Lucky man. I've had the Sr-60, 80, 125, and still have an HF-1 (although, I must admit, I am partial to the Beyerdynamic 990s (2005 version) these days).

No, it does not boost power at the moment. It does provide the ability to turn on an external speaker though, so others can hear radio transmissions.

As my question is now buried two pages back, forgive me for re-asking it. When you mount the 148 in a vehicle, to the best of my recollection, the max power remains at 5000, so is there any benefit regarding range for mounting in a vehicle?

I've tried many times to set different power on different channels on 148 UHF (or VHF), and all times i can't set different power.

I'm sure that i can do it with 117F (not tried for 119).

Maybe i do something wrong?

this is what i do:

open radio

change power to 5000

change channel

try to change power but is already set to 5000

Are you hitting ENT after changing the power? And yes, power is specific to channel, but it won't "take" unless you hit enter.

Are you sure that you can mount the 148 in a vehicle?

Yes. the 111 mounts accept 158s and the 110 accept 152 (or vice versa) in Humvees.

If I could make one request, and please let me know if there is a different place to do so, could the MEDEVAC choppers be preloaded with medical equipment (tourniqets, strechers, etc.). I believe right now they only have 1 parachute. My entire group is really looking forward to your next release! Thanks again!
