Well, correct me if I am completely wrong, but I think others have been able to do it before... But then again, this is the RV engine, so do lose the hope.

[Tutorial] Simple Re-texturing Guide (From Start To Finish)
Ekko replied to Amit's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
These marked ones in Texview2: http://i.imgur.com/L3ZMaEy.png?1 (214 kB) I thought that maybe an alpha layer is needed for some possible blank spots on the sides of the texture(the ones that look very dark), or is everything on the file necessary textures? Thanks! -

Thanks! And by the way, should I add anything specific into the four boxes when saving the file as .tga in Texview? -
[Tutorial] Simple Re-texturing Guide (From Start To Finish)

I've got it to work with ExtractPbo from dev-heaven, so I don't need Eliteness anymore. My only problem now is the PAA plugin not working in Photoshop CS 5.1(64). I've put it in the right folder, but I don't see it in the file formats when opening a file such as “heli_transport_01_ext01_blufor_co.paaâ€. Stuck again I guess. -

I've sorta got the same problem, only mine says DePbo.dll. I am sure I have followed the guide thoroughly, but alas, no success. Getting stuck so early into the process is quite lame. -
I have always wondered if the engine's limitations is something that could be fixed or improved in the current engine? or would that require a completely new one? and have Bis talked about this and the engine's limitation lately? If no improvement can be done, then I guess I have to wait 2-4 years to play it without the damn stuttering cause I don't think buying new components for just A3 is rather wise. I suppose an i7-960 Processor, 6gb ram and two gtx 570 in sli is just not enough to enter any village big or small without lag and stuttering...

Maybe you don't understand because I used the word: you. When I could have used words such as: some, people and probably many more words to explain why I did not either downplay the issue at hand.
-
Yes, it shall not be ridiculed, downplayed, ignored, or even asked about for that matter because thats just outright silly, it will make you look like you just committed the first three in some peoples eyes.
-
Well, just look on the bright side of it, we might be able to play the game without gameplay-ruining stuttering when turning around in about 5 years... maybe if we are lucky- 3 years... Or wait just a minute, did stuttering get fixed in A2?

Is there anyone who has had glichty pip screens since the alpha cause I have had it for a while now, but its not on every vehicle. The hunter without any GMG or HMG works fine and some choppers, but the offroads, ifrits and boats all have glitchy screen with flashing black background on them, makes it hard to see anything. Not sure if I should put this on feedback tracker cause I might be the only one having this problem...

I do, when walking around in towns its about 40-60 fps and a lot of stuttering, and when out on the country its about 60-90, and some stuttering only when zooming, and when turning around. Its really quite dangerous to hang around the towns for me, I can't react fast enough because of the stuttering and it makes it impossible to have a really enjoyable mission in a town, so I have to stick to barren lands, hills, and fields if I want to have some fun moving around. I hope towns will get optimized soon, or I can get a really well paid job so I can buy a super-computer, might just avoid the stuttering then...

I am using two GTX 570s in SLI so there might be a slight difference, but I am running the game at about 50-80fps, and thats with a lot of settings on ultra, can't remember exactly what, but I know shadows were on ultra and 200 on shadow distance. My view distance is set at about 3000, and object distance is at about 1200-1500, and object detail is at very high or high. The fps stays at about 60-80 in fields and such, but when I get into any little settlement or town it drops to about 30-50 with a lot of stuttering when turning around and such, really makes it dangerous to look to the side sometimes cause you can't react correctly or fast enough to engage or dodge any hostile contact, its a shame, I find the island to be so amazing to look at, but this totally ruins it for me. The stuttering is however everywhere when turning around and such no matter what the fps, its just slightly harder to notice on fields, but if you get occupied with its tiny presence then things can get annoying. Something worth noting is that the new nvidia 326 driver gave me a 3-5fps boost when I switched to it yesterday. I also tried playing without SLI cause I forgot to switch back after installing the new driver, and it was a pain to be anywhere on altis with ultra settings.

Let me say first, Altis is damn beautiful, details such as scattered rocks on fields is a nice touch to the immersion. The lack of decent midrange-textures however ruin it when flying and when looking at hills, but this might just change... Whats bothering me though is a big problem we have always had: Town stuttering and low town fps... Its usually down to about 40 with me on ultra when I hang around in any settlement, and it doesn't change much when lowering the settings( the exception being turning down distance and object, but I want to be able to see at least 3km and 1.5km of objects). This issue bothers me alot when wanting to make missions in towns, villages and cities, and just ruins the whole freedom for me. So why is it that the community-created Arma 2 city-map Fallujah is easier to run than a smaller settlement on Altis or Chernarus? Some obvious conclusions could be that its because the A1 houses that are used are not so heavy to render since they are not all enterable, but when the big city has more than 3000 buildings compared to a village with 50 houses, and the latter stutters and lags more, then something is a bit wrong... in my opinion at least( then again there is a big difference in size of the entire maps...).

Urgent, need hotfix: 4x 3d scopes allows TrackIR users to look around freely in 4x

Am I the only one noticing lag when I zoom in with the 3d scopes and zoom out? It's hard to notice but there is a slight lag from my point of view. -
Terrain Improvement (dev branch)
Ekko replied to NordKindchen's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
Yepp, Bis doesn't seem to give one shit about it, they like keeping it old. The ancient bipod technology is ofcourse an exception, they don't want any of that, or the ability to jump like most humans have done for thousands of years... (and a good number of gaming years) -
So, what does this exactly mean for management of steam workshop in our daily Arma 3 life?
-
I can't remember where, but I think they stated or at least hinted that we would be playing various roles throughout the campaign. Edit: Shit, you beat me to it Comp_uter15776, I should have refreshed the page... :(

Didn't bis say something about over 40 different weapons included in final release a while back?(or was that including a few different mines) And I remember seeing some interesting weapons as well in pictures, such as a shotgun, oh well, what can you expect... Its weird thinking back, I thought we were actually getting a few new things but hey! damn, I am so tired of shooting with that slow lag-like mx rifle, and that mk20 that barely kills anyone while you stand there looking at that weird AI damage animation. Why would do they swing their bloody weapon up in the air? And the katiba, I don't know about you, but it does sound rather weak to me. If you ask me there should instead be a bit more blood flying when you hit someone, It might not be as realistic, but at least it looks as if you actually shot them and they didn't just drop (for no reason). Red Orchestra 2 does this quite well, it looks quite nice actually, but then again RO2 also features cramps which makes the whole experience more immersive... Well I guess its always left up to the community...

Well, its probably too late...
