  1. I was just trying to soak up as much of Altis as possible and I already have some cool ideas for missions. I really love those giant watchtowers they introduced and I'm sure one of them would be a great spot for some kind of scenario. However, it's incredibly inefficient, considering the islands size, to just fly around trying to find each tower to check if it would be suitable. That's why I've been wondering if there's any way in SQF scripting to iterate through all the buildings on the map, filter for a certain classname and maybe mark all the occurences on the map. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Wow, it's amazing how easily you can do that kind of stuff if you just know the commands. Thanks, this really helped! Yeah, didn't go too bad.     Great, so I suppose at least I can now spawn a watchtower using a script. You have some very useful scripting examples on your site, by the way. I can really use these since I'm a beginner at scripting. So, I still don't exactly know how to get all the buildings of a certain classname. Do you know if there's some way to get an array with all buildings on the map?
  5. Everybody spawns in the water, but you should be teleported instantly as soon as a suitable location for the HQ has been found. I guess the scripts aren't executed properly.
  6. I have the spawning problem as well, especially with the IFV Panther. Other vehicles like the MH9 seem to be working. Using the DEV build, by the way.

  8. About the HALO and Parachute... I tried it in MP and it doesn't just misteriously not work, it says a script is missing.
  9. Some artillery munitions are indeed causing trouble. But perhaps they just don't exist in the game as of now.

  14. Just tried it and I'm completely in love with it! With the AI reacting faster the gameplay is much more challenging and dynamic. Also performance is very good. I didn't notice much of an impact, even with 50 AI shooting each other.

    There's really no better way to put it, so I'm just gonna go ahead. I think excluding the multiplyer experience from the Alpha Lite was a terrible mistake. The Alpha Lite is supposed to win new players for the game, I guess. But the way it is now, it definitely doesn't do that. I have some friends that have never played ArmA before and I'd like to introduce them to this amazing franchise. But of what use are my Alpha Lite keys, if my friends can only play for themselves on their computers? New players in ArmA are completely lost when they start playing the game, because they have no idea of how everything works. It's quite the learning curve and many people quickly get frustrated with that. It would be perfect if my friends could just join my server, play missions I designed for the purpose of getting to know the game and if I could play with them and explain everything. But that's not possible, and that's why my friends are frustrated with Arma 3 and are probably never gonna play it. I'm aware that adding MP to the Alpha Lite would make it a "full" Alpha that wasn't paid for, but I think the fact that the Alpha is going to end sometime would certainly prevent people from playing the game forever without buying it. As soon as the Alpha's over, people who like the game would have to buy it anyway. I think BIS would win more customers with this strategy, as the Alpha Lite right now is definitely not attracting new players.

    No shit, Sherlock! But where was I talking about giving the game away for free? You're aware that the Alpha is gonna be over at some point and that people who like the game so far would buy it eventually?

    The incentive to buy the game would be the fact that the Alpha is going to be over at some point. However, I must agree to you that the Alpha Lite really is quite an expansive demo. I'm just saying that from what I can tell, more people would buy the game if the difficult start could be made a little easier by their friends introducing them to the game.
