    Yes, I did... re-downloaded, re-installed DirectX9, rebooted, restarted Steam, I ran every possible thing as admin... anyway, I will be reinstalling everything tomorrow morning and I will edit this post if that solves the problem. And about the slang - yes, I was a little annoyed but at the same time didn't expect people to take it personally. I suppose I am new to this forum :)

    I don't consider "what the fuck" to be 'more than somewhat abusive' of a term but to each their own. This is not a DayZ specific problem because it relates to the Arma2 beta patch. Yes, I need it in order to run DayZ but its not an exclusive issue... I'm still hoping for a helpful reply instead of one lecturing me on my approach :)

    It's very easy to rage on the internet Boggy. There are a great many community members that would help you out however keeping calm and explaining your problems is probably the way to go.

    Regarding your problem I can't understand why you would have completely degraded your 1.71 installation back to 1.5 ! The beta patches are quite a step forward in terms of technology and IMHO need to be used as if they were official patches! However that is perhaps just me.

    Should you come up against other problems please keep calm and post here and we will help you out.

    Kremator, no you didn't understand my post mate. I didn't downgrade DayZ to 1.5 (my DayZ version is 1.7.0), I just used Worrom's 'DayZ Mod Updater v1.5'. But the newest version of that is v1.6 and it still didn't work.

    ...Well I wouldn't want any potential responder to take it personally, no. I've just been frustrated by this process so many times in the past 3.5 hours that I am getting quite irritable.

    I guess I'll have to reinstall everything from scratch tomorrow. I don't have the patience for it now. So great that this happened right when I found a bicycle ingame...

    No. Sorry to burst your bubble but there is no post that solves my problem.

    First off, DayZ was working fine for me until today. Then I kept getting stuck on the black "loading..." screen and realized I needed to install the new 1.7.1 version. So I ran DayZ Mod Updater (from Worrom) v1.5 and it failed at the sfx file. Then I used v1.6 of the Updater and it still failed. So then I figured I need to install the beta patch first. And then while extracting that I come across the wrong cd key error.

    I've launched the Sic Updater tool too and it did no help either.

    Every time i run the patch, it extracts and then gives me an error message saying WRONG CD KEY. I bought both arma2 and OA from Steam so what the fuck is the problem? I have restarted, ran as an admin, ran Steam as an admin, closed steam, nothing works. I used the latest build from here arma2.com/beta-patch

    If anyone has a helpful suggestion I would be immensely grateful.
