    JTD Fire And Smoke

JTD_Flies mod, flies around corpses and so on, nice mod, also JTD_ClearHorizonV2, another great mod. But it stopped working for me a little time back, still trying to sort out what its conflicting with..

    Sides of screen cut off

You could try this, may not work but it won’t break anything.. In-game open the video menu and set the ‘interface Res’ & the ‘3D res’ to the same value, this should be your native res (it will have 100% marked in the 3D res). Then go down to the ‘Interface Size’ in advanced and change it to ‘Normal’ size, click o.k. and then the game should tell you it needs to re-start for the changes to take effect, be sure to click o.k. When it reloads have a look and see, if it is still the same then this wasn’t the problem. Worth a go..:D

    Best Controls

The two main peripherals I use are a Nostromo and a mouse, keyboard is obviously there, but really more to monitor the pc whilst playing the game. If you go into ‘Options’ then ‘Controls’ ingame, you can almost remap the whole of Arma’s controls to suit you. Rolling your mouse wheel will bring up your quick ‘Action menu’, but as for main controls look at remapping to suit your gameplay.. :)
  7. I’m surprised you think you need a joystick. KB & mouse do a great job, or like myself now, its Nostromo & mouse, which is perfect for me. However, the last time I used a joystick for a video game was with the Atari 2600, so its been a while, around 36yrs I suppose. No doubt many on here use a joystick for flying and should be able to point you in the right direction. Welcome, not been here that long myself.. :)
  8. What were the frame rate results you got?

    JTD Fire And Smoke

What other mods are you running with it? I would imagine you have stripped down to just JTD, as you are really sure its that. I make missions for the group I play in, would be interesting to find out for sure, JTD is a mod we always use. I run 1.62 to the latest beta. Ace etc, JTD is the main enhancement of that type we use. Do you launch from a launcher i.e. SU etc or just the normal way straight from the game. My JTD pbo’s are pulled out into a folder I called ‘game_enhancements’ it runs from there with other mods pbo’s along that line (enhancements). Maybe give me your start up and I will replicate it and see if it crashes for me.:) Edit: forgot to ask, which version of jtd are you running, mine is '3', not sure if thats the current version..

    JTD Fire And Smoke

I am very surprised after reading this, I have used JTD for, well ages, and have never had a problem with it. Does it crash when jtd is due to start i.e. fire after explosion etc, or does it crash before jtd has had time to do anything ?
  11. I know it must be very frustrating having a machine that really should run Arma 2 without that many hiccups, but seemingly not able to. The cpu and gpu you have should be o.k. for running the game, it really would be great if something turns up that ticks the right box and it all falls in place. AMD is just as good as intel for A2, I run one and it produces what I need for the game using the amount of ai I want in the missions I make (sensible level). Daft question and no doubt you have answered it or done this already, but have you placed a single unit on a map (you) in a city, then in a wooded area then out in the open and compared frame rates. Don’t move the unit, just look to all points of the compass and make a note of each rate, repeat it in all the areas. Just the one unit, use a BIS unit not a mod, then list the result here, including where the test was done. Possibly won’t help but its just a test to see the difference’s. Use a 1000vd in all the areas. Feel free to say 'no'..
  12. I would say it depends. I play 1920x1080 res on a 22†monitor, with most settings on very high (not all). Lets say you play the same on a 52â€, at the same res, then your going to have to sit well back (which no doubt you will do with such a large screen), but it will show up more imperfections in the graphics However if the screen your going to play on is a very high res (for gaming, doubtful if it’s a tv) then this would not apply. Can’t tell until you do it, and if you have the tv and the game then give it a go and let us all know..;) Playing via htmi will not be a problem, I do..

Using Arma 2 mods the simple way

SU for me, make ‘Preset’/s, short cut them to ‘Game’ folder, rename them with a short name ‘Game 1’ etc, job done. Only open up SU when I want to update, which with everything going on at present is quite often...;)

    8 bit Nostalgia

Now unfortunately I am of the age to remember when these were cutting edge graphics, there again I am that old I can remember thinking that two bats knocking a square ball around on a empty screen was cutting edge. :o This could be a mini classic, retro stuff for mobile devices are becoming popular, provided the buildings were removed (sort of let it down a bit). ;) A gem is what you have here, I will enjoy playing it from time to time and just reminiscing.. I am really glad you made it… with a tear in my eye I say, thanks for sharing your little gem...:)
  16. Do you want to change the equipment the unit starts with? If yes, LEA Loadouts mod will do that for you..
  17. V-sync is there to stop you going above 60fps, most monitors are 60hz, so with v-sync on there should be no problems. Seems like your moving with trackIR faster than your monitor can handle, so putting v-sync on and leaving it on would probably be preferable. I play with v-sync disabled and a 60hz monitor but don’t use trackIR, I don’t get really noticeable screen tearing, but it can if fps is high and I move around very quickly. Best either buy a 120hz monitor or keep v-sync on whilst using your trackIR.
  18. To be honest 'doveman' I don’t know. SMK is the largest mod dealing with stance that I know of, not sure if this stance was looked at, I know there are a lot of stance changes in there. Just have to watch for conflicts with any other mods that have anims.

Army of the Czech Republic DLC

I have never played a BIS made mission, from 2002 or whenever it was I bought OFP. Got it for the editor, I make missions for the group I play in plus a couple of others do the same. We still used Vassal up until recently, ASL and prior to that SL (board games, however vassal is basically an online board game/mission generator). All superb in their own way, including this whole series. Its all about the ‘Editor’..
  21. Totally agree with that, nothing like having a disc with the game on. Still, I got it from BIS store (£7.99 or something similar to that price) and downloaded it, really just like a mod. But if you pay its nice to have something real for it.
  22. Thats the anim they are using for it, well looks like the anim my guy uses when he gets down to pick up a weapon off the ground. ;) Sire :p Completely different to what I was thinking, still thats one of BIS's better anims
  23. Are you using SMK mod ? SMK has the basic game crouch then another aiming crouch (slightly laid back crouch, if you like) which is supposed to give better aiming stability, I think the issue is with that. Plus our group found that when we were running SMK you can occasionally get ai stuck in the aiming crouch position, we tested it and it seemed to be a conflict with the slx mod, as we run slx as part of our ai mix, we removed smk. So if you are running smk, it may be that, test it without smk.
  24. Think they are still trying to sort out the 1.62 LOD problems, but its not the end of the world, still quite playable.. Only seems to be some types of tree's.
