1/ you can request to have it added to SU (six updater thread) 2/ you could download the mod yourself and put it with your arma 2 addons. If you do it number 2 way and want to still load it via SU, you will then have to look in the ‘local mods’ section see here (highlighted red oval) and add it from there to your ‘Preset’ until its added to SU the conventional way. To add it, you just highlight the mod in that section and click add, it will add it to whichever ‘Preset’ your working on..

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
chrisb replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
A friend in our group reckons one of the more reliable is PassMark.. Taken from PassMarks CPU Benchmarks 2012.. Phenom II x 3 720 = score 2553 i.e. mid to high range, rank 399 Athlon II x 4 640 = score 3651 i.e. high end, rank 255 Phenom II x 4 955 = score 3906 i.e. high end, rank 227. Just cpu based scores, depends on whats with it for gaming of course. -
It is really a wonderful terrain. I like to put the summer pack on it for any summer missions I make. It always had a Autumn look to it but with the summer pack it adds another dimension. 'Podagorsk’ island in summer..

Well its nice your graphics card decided to work, but at 4fps !!!!:butbut: Did you get the game from Steam or is it hard copy or download from bis store etc.. -
SERIOUS crash issue - tried almost everything!
chrisb replied to bates's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I can imagine how frustrating it is. Have you thought about buying hard copies, there seems to be a few with steam downloads that are having crash problems. The cost of hard copies is not that bad and lets be honest if the hard copies work then its over to Steam if the problem lies there. Its only a thought but its what I would do now, at the comparatively low cost of arma games now, sometimes its just worth it to see if it works without the headaches.. -
Low number of fps in ArrmA 2 & Operation Arrowhead
chrisb replied to rafikrafik007's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You have probably got with that pc ‘AMD Overdrive’ which you can use to OC it, I used that for mine to shift to 3.4ghz, there is room for more but there is no need as it handles the game great. I would swap the card you have for a AMD HD 5*** series, pref ‘5850’ they work well together with that processor, only going off mine and the group I play in, a few of the group members have the same unit. MB wise not sure, maybe others can help, but processor wise o.k. imo. . -
I’m using 1.62.96015 at the mo and it seems a whole lot better, still things to do but its looking good and performance is being maintained.:)

Missions where going up river is the main theme are really nice on your map. If, and I understand time constrains, you come back to it later, would it be possible to have some more foliage along river banks beyond town, just to give a little more realism to up river missions. The rocks below waterline and also the pickup on its side and the power line mount are all great little features. Not a criticism of any type just a thought. Up river missions, as I said above, are really great on Miroslavi, quietly using pook’s socr mod (low engine noise on first throttle), and having to lower the radar mask (if the tide is not friendly) to get under the arch built bridges and generally not being detected is great. Obviously I fully understand if its not pos, I could add these myself to our groups missions, but would just be a nice added feature later perhaps. Thanks again. :)

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
chrisb replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Just pointing out that when saying for certain something on here, its really your own opinion. Another idiot for you, I can put 100's of these idiots up on here, but its not worth it, as I doubt they are all idiots. Sometimes sli works fine, sometimes crossfire works fine, but by just looking around on the internet you can find people having problems with both for arma 2, plus of course I can find lots of people loving using them, its just simple research to see if your machine will likely run well with it.. To take one persons word for it is not really that sensible, especially when it costs money..;) -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
chrisb replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
If you look around the internet you will see there are mixed results with both sli or crossfire. Its almost random luck or random bad luck, either way.. ;) -
Your right flying is a pleasure in the series, links are small pics, click again for full size.. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/837/arma2oa2012041116070610.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/443/arma2oa2012061801581264.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/837/arma2oa2012051502222234.png/ I’m using 1.62.96015 beta, LOD is getting much better after a few hiccups recently. :)

Could you go back i.e. re-install (I know, it’s a bum ache) but stop at 1.60 and see if its stable at that first, before patching through to 1.62****..or is that not an option, you see I don’t use or understand the ‘Steam’ process. A few have said on here that they have had it CTD with the new patch I have hard copies so its easy to move back if you have to for any reason, doesn’t take that long to re-install if I have to, thankfully have not had to do it with the new patch.. -
Everything written right, i.e. no gaps and only _ lines, not –. Of course you will have, just asking. :o Then make a folder @fire, put an ‘addons’ folder in there and copy and paste the jtd_fireandsmoke.pbo into the addons folder and see if that shows up.. I have pbo’s in folders like @game_enhancements, @game_effects (JTD in there), @ai_enhancements etc, of course you have to test if any conflict, but that done and its easier, imo.. Over the series I have stored that many mods/addons etc I have forgotten what half of them are without trailing through, but if its in @game_enhancements, I know its something to do with enhancing the game, well you know, my logic at my age :p... However if you have loads of mods/addons like myself, you really have to have a hdd to store all your mods on. Any updates I do via the hdd and just swap any updated pbo’s i.e. delete old, copy and paste updated across to the arma 2 folder. Doing it this way you double up on the mods your using at present in-game, i.e. one in the a2 folder one on the hdd, but it saves having mods/addons you want but don't use at the mo in the a2 folder, plus hdd’s are pretty cheap now and its a back-up..:)

GTX 560 Ti bottleneck - Extremely low FPS.
chrisb replied to liamlight's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I see your settings in the video, I get a 5-6fps boost by having Texture detail & Video Memory set to ‘Very High’, I know this goes against the grain of popular belief when setting a2 up, but there you go, not sure if its worth a try or if you tried it already.. Also if your having atoc disabled I would do the same with aa, you won’t notice that much difference and it should boost fps. I use AToc=7 and AA=Low, but when you disable atoc its almost like turning aa off, the difference is only slight i.e. skinny tree’s either way in both settings, wire’s and similar may be only slightly better with aa low, but really not that much. Also if you are using win7 do you have the game in ‘Program Files’ (64bit) or ‘Program Files (x86)’ (32bit), I have it in ‘Program Files’ (64bit), have read that it can help some games out, not sure why.. Just bits and bobs, but you never know.. :) -
Update 1.11 is for Arma 2 only, update 1.60 which I would go for, rather than the latest 1.62 still working through its beta stage is for arrowhead/CO. Both games would have a key i.e. your arma 2 and your arrowhead/CO etc. Sounds to me as though its reading the arma 2 key fine for arma 2 (update 1.11) but then it would need the arrowhead/CO key for the next part of the update. Why not go into the Arma 2 website and just update arrowhead/CO (1.60) it will auto update your arma 2 along with it, or lets say that’s what it does for me everytime I update. Then if you want to go for 1.62 it will hopefully be easier to do from the 1.60 patch..

I see your problem ‘liamlight’ in the video (terrible).:( Its probably not going to help, but here it is anyway, my target line reads, at the mo: "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -nofilepatching -skipintro -winxp -world=empty -cpucount=4 -maxmem=2047 -name=Chris B etc……. Then the mods, of which there are lots… Gpu usage on 2000vd in heavy areas is usually between 85-99% (for some reason never shows 100%) but does in msi. View distance increased to quite high i.e. 7000, will lower gpu usage a lot (cpu picks up the bill), but never really drops below 50%. :) -
Advanced editor modules

A really appreciated piece of work, thank you.. :) -
I think spending time setting up arma2 can be frustrating, but it is well worth that time. Some items in the controls list have been added since arma2 came out, so maybe for further development etc. If I use SMK mod (not too often), I will use the ‘Turbo’ for that as it needs a ‘Turbo’ key. With smk you have quite a few evasive movements, i.e. left, right, forward rolls etc, even shooting from a side position laying down, jumping walls etc. The only evasive movements as standard are really roll left roll right whilst prone. Don’t think it matters how long you have played the series, you will always learn something new almost every week, and of course never stop tweaking settings.. I quite like doing that.. :)

Mouse flying: how do you handle freelook?
chrisb replied to tolpogulisEXTRA's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I have freelook assigned to one of the side buttons on my mouse, click it once your in freelook, click it again and your back to normal view. Keep flying and looking around, no problems. I have a Nostromo for my left hand, so can keep fly using that whilst looking around.. -
