As others have said, its the type of group. Although it is hard finding groups that suit your play style. There is a way around that of course, start your own group. ;) Regards getting rid of 'ai', :annoy: well.. A firing squad could be arranged, for the person pushing this agenda ( @St jimmy ). The firing squad would be made up of ai, so the outcome is not known. Unless you mod the ai, in which case you'll be toast.. :P

Is Enfusion the one used for TOM ? I see they're also using Unity for Yland (fun little game), not that it means anything, just an observation.

Disappointed with lack of Interactability on Tanoa
chrisb replied to daveallen10's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I won't be playing on Tanoa, certainly for the time being. But I went into have a look around. I think there may be enough buildings that are enterable for it to be interesting. I put down a group using the GL5 mod near some buildings, but they didn't garrison, as they usually would do. Now that may have just been at the point on the island that I was located. I haven't looked around, only really one town area, so it may be different elsewhere. But the buildings were enterable, but the ai didn't recognise that. I have heard from people on other community forums that the ai is fairly woeful on Tanoa. But I couldn't say myself, if that is the case or not. The players saying these things are players that use and build ai mods, so I sort of think that it maybe the case that ai are not suited to the new island as much and its more steered towards MP (pvp). But regards buildings, from the small town I looked at, there seemed to be enough that were enterable, based on BI's usual standard. It wouldn't be hard to get ai into buildings, of course in the right positions could be a problem, especially if they are to do that by themselves with little input from the player/mission designer, plus patrol through built up areas etc using all enterable buildings, outhouses and so on. Edit: Just went into Georgetown and put a few groups down. Synced to the groups were the GL5 'Defend' module. Provided you place them very close to buildings, they do garrison, although its not very good, but they can do it. -
Bohemia paying for sponsored content at PC gamer
chrisb replied to almanzo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Really its just an advert. Its too short to be taken for a review and it clearly states at the bottom that it is 'sponsored by BI'. So if that is confusing to any purchasers, then they need to get someone to do their shopping for them. Plus don't let them near QVC.... ;) -
Project 82 The Falklands/Malvinas war mod Work In Progress - Pics
chrisb replied to cimalex's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Good to see someone is keeping it going. I have two Falklands terrains: 'Falklands Scale Test' & MLV Pto Argentino (ported from A1 IIRC) Last time I looked the ai couldn't use the MLV one, or at least the town areas. I don't really use either terrain much now. But it is nice to see new assets for A2. Thanks. -
cwr2 does not work anymore

1.63.112555 works fine. Just rewind to a previous game. This version is a little time back, but still good. Some of the recent changes seem to be breaking things, intentionally or not, its not good. But try and rewind, as said. -

Thanks for this update, I'm looking forward to having a good look. -
No, I think your mistaken. But that's the beauty of democracy, people can have alternative views. The way I put my post is how I see it playing out, 'I believe that is the way it will play out'. From a business point of view, I would prefer the cautious approach and time helps. I view it from a smaller business point of view, not a multinational, or indeed a bank.

Corruption is everywhere in politics and its 'rife'. That's a big problem for ordinary people, lots of governments are bought and paid for by 'interests', not necessarily those of the public kind.

Verdun does look good. But I think modern conflict is more my thing now.

There will be lots of talks and planning prior to invoking article 50. Once article 50 is invoked, there is a narrow 2year window to get everything sorted out and in place. I think it will take longer than that and a better idea is to talk and plan with others first, prior to article 50 being used. I believe it will be invoked either late this year or early next. I don't think the next PM, whoever that is, will do it straight away. But article 50 will be invoked at some point. Maybe some of the EU members will push hard enough for it to be invoked before, but from the UK point of view, I believe, time would be a better option than straight in now. Some players in the EU want it done soon, to deter others from holding referendums. They would rather show the UK having a bad time leaving, therefore making an example of the UK to deter others from doing the same. Just wait and see I guess.
-
There won't be another referendum and article 50 will be down the line somewhere. The U.K. will be o.k. out of the EU, it would also have been o.k. in the EU. Its just democracy in action. There are always winners and losers, just how it goes. But the conservatives have always been a little, lets say, not EU friendly, so I'm fairly sure they will take the country out. What the terms end up as, is anyone's guess. My guess is there will still be fairly close ties with the EU, even though we'll 'technically' be out..

MCAGCC 29 Palms (Public Beta)
chrisb replied to phaeden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
The animal/bird sound, you mean ? If yes, then no I don't get that on this terrain. -
The AI mods that work really well, are those that are made for the players to use in their mission making, so integral AI mods. Not as an add-on type thing for random missions. GL3/4/5 would be one of these, imo. I don't have much experience with other A3 AI mods. GL5 as it is now, is publically available (which helps) and its very good, if used well. But many players just want to play either the stock campaign or player made mission/campaigns and have those mission/campaigns play out with 'exceptional AI'. Unfortunately your not really going to get that, if whichever mission/campaign your playing, isn't built with that AI mod in mind. You can build great mission/campaigns around very good AI mods and get very realistic results. Its harder to get those results if you just add-in a random AI mod to missions that are primarily made for the vanilla game. Also a mix of mods can work very well, but its the time to take for testing these, that can deter players from doing that. All AI mods need testing by the player, to see if they agree with your gaming style and/or don't break anything.. If you understand what I mean there.

Arma X Anniversary Edition. Worth it for someone who's never played A1 or 2?
chrisb replied to Mynock's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Arma 2 with all the dlc's. That should keep you busy for years. Needs modding though. ;) -
I would say @kremator was right. The reply does sound a little condescending, especially when coming from modders and maybe not pro's. Of course that may not be the case and these modellers may be professionals at the job. I think that’s unlikely though, as pro’s would not be that condescending and would take the time to explain. Well certainly in my experience from my own background (not in gaming I would add). Giving people time and explaining what or how a process works, takes little effort and gets better respect. @bratwurste has a point. The game is stagnating because we have so many modders working within the BI company now. New fresh professional people would probably move the game on and conquer some of the problems that the series has had for so long, well ever really. But perhaps pro’s wouldn’t want to work with the engine now, who knows. I would add, I appreciate many of the mod makers in the series, those that build mods and that are respectful to those that play using those mod/addons. Many take time to explain what they do and are the first to say their work is ‘not’ professional, but instead a much loved hobby. They give the game more legs and have kept it going all these years (Bi fully understand that ;) ) However, mod makers tend not to be professionals at the work, some are, I know. But on the whole it’s an enthusiasts hobby based thing. Many move into the industry we know, if that is a good thing or not is for each individual to judge. My own view is it can be good and bad. Regards topic, I have no idea how the process (LOD) works and seeing as no-one seems to want to step up and explain, in a respectful way, how it works in the series with this engine and how it may be done better, then none of us are going to be any the wiser.

Just tried to go into it. Doesn't load properly, no mouse actions. Is it some type of condition at BI now, break things. Or.. can they stop engaging ex modders and employ some pro's to do the job....

[WIP] Map Ruegen (Germany, Baltic Sea)

Great to see the update. Thanks for sharing. -
This again is you speaking as if its fact, when clearly its your own opinion, probably based on your own 'poor' experience with a AMD card. Now there are plenty of AMD users, me included, that have no issues using AMD cards for this and all the other titles in the series. So how do you account for that. So to follow your lead, I'll state its 'fact' that all AMD cards have no issues with A3 and NVidia is a poor choice............ Obviously this is not the case, so pointless pointing things out as 'fact'.. There are good and bad in all things. Its your setup that dictates your performance and there are soo many variables in each setup, its almost impossible to predict how something will perform. AMD will run this game as well as NVidia, depends on the card and your setup. I can run A3 on my other old gaming pc with a AMD HD5850 2gb card with no issues at all. The 290 I have now has no issues either. NVidia in the past have been just as good. My concerns for good performance are a clean system with little to nothing running in the background. I ran A2 & A3 on a Athlon 640 with the 5850 and it still played A3 on the highest settings. Its only when it comes to recording at the same time that performance dropped, even then with the drop, it performed very well. I had lots of vids on my channel at the time showing this. AMD or NVidia, both are good, should you choose a good card from them. When you start having issues, look inward at your own system and setup, not at a product range where there are millions of players having no issues..

Latest Crimson, whichever that is. Great performance, as always. I just tend to update when it reminds me, performance seems good all the time with AMD drivers currently.

Must say , I'm quite looking forward to this game.

I must admit that I come at it from a point of view of not playing A3. But from 'day 1' of Alpha release, to now, has seen a very obvious lowering of visuals. Now this could be to make the new update seem fantastic, simply by upping those visuals again on the new release (just a thought). Or.. It could be that the devs are finding performance upgrades, at the cost of said visuals. I'm not really sure what is going on and don't really care too much. But yes, the game looks very different to the original Alpha release. I probably wouldn't have noticed much if I played the game at the rate of hours I play A2. But I don't, I only come into A3 every now and then, mainly to test stuff, so I notice changes, perhaps, where others wouldn't. ;) Of course, all that said, it could be my eyes getting worse. But most other games look the same, so I'm trying to ignore the eye issue..

I haven't ever had a problem with ai using buildings, roofs, balconies, watch towers, windows, doors etc plus using good stances. But that is using ai mods, of course. -
ArmA Updates Are Really Feeling Rushed And I'm Seriously Questioning Buying Apex
chrisb replied to rekkless's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I think the 3D editor was kicked around early on, but thought to be too much work. Although it seems the work was not too much after all. Regards the new release this year.. I'm not sure if I get it free, I bought in at the level below the top one (pre-release), so not sure. If I get it free, then I'll sightsee for a short time, if I don't get it, I won't have lost out, because I wouldn't be playing it anyway. Don't think I'll be buying it. It will be the first thing for quite a while from BI, I haven't bought for PC, I liked to support them and bought most things. Times change though. I'm looking forward to 'Escape from Tarkov' though and of course next month NMS is out. Nice. Arma 2OA modded, is still a pleasure to play and a completely different game to the original stock game. I'm in there many hours per week.. Too many probably, it is still my most played game (by far).
