  2. 12000 view distance for air combat, best on something like dbo_afghanistan, there is a A3 version, full view distance and 80-120+fps to boot remaining even at 12000vd everything Ultra. Much more pleasurable experience. But if you need the island, then not a lot is going to help get a really good game-play and a 12000 vd on Altis. I limit air to 3-4000 on Altis, but there is not enough of Altis for air to air, your at the other end before you get started. Also Nevada desert terrain (large), that’s another good one for air to air combat with lots of fps to spare with ultra smooth game-play. I have a few more knocking around somewhere, for this type of mission, however its better in A2, far more to choose from for everything, at the moment.;)

  6. I find if you put say 150ai on the map, provided you don’t meet more than say 20-30 at any one time, its pretty o.k. even in town. Small ai numbers don’t really cripple the game for me, larger 40 v 40 at one time can reduce fps to mid 30’s or around 40, but that is rare for me, I play smaller skirmish type stuff in A2, so it would be the same in A3, no more than 150-200ai on the map at start, lot less usually, if a mission is well designed, there is no need to overdo what your system can handle.

    The series in general, played Arma a lot so naturally moved onto A2, and to be honest its nowhere near as buggy as it was on release and for sometime after. Its the most realistic of all the games in the series, but that's all down to the content available.
  8. I think that one thing that comes through, from sort of day one of the Alpha, for me is performance. Now I know many are struggling with it and perhaps that’s down to online servers etc. But for me and the amount of units I want per mission, it works really well and has done from day one. I don’t play A3 that much, but I do scenario type missions for testing mod/addons, maybe 70ai max, never really beyond that other than simple testing for how many ai until its unplayable, type things, but really its all mainly skirmish type stuff. Now its always performed really well, I put the game on today and its moved along a couple of updates (dev) since I last had a look, and at my usual fps testing spots I got higher on each one, 3-4fps on average, which is on top of good rates anyhow. For me the game runs as well if not a little better, considering the upgrade in graphics etc, than A2, although A2 runs well too. So good job BIS, from my personal perspective, the game is a really good runner.;). That said, do you know they (ai) ignore a smoke grenade thrown out in-front of them by an enemy unit in hiding, well I should say they did before todays update, will have to test again. That's the vanilla ai, not modded who on the other hand, react to smoke very well on the whole, there again the modded ai react to everything more or less as expected. Will vanilla ai react to smoke, or is this not on the check list, or are they already and I'm doing something wrong ?
  9. Shooting out the glass is a really nice feature, sadly missing in A2 in general, but present in A3. Things like this just serve to add more and more immersion, as with opening up the buildings, its all just great, so a big thanks..;)

    I’m just sad that it seems to be all about the look of the game now and little to do with what the content is or how the content runs, i.e. vehicle handling (he has a point), also, ai, medic system, and the rest of the content that has been left behind, or not implemented, just to try and please the graphic hungry crowd, or mainstream runners..:(

Make open world missions (not pos yet in A3, well ones that would work right), then your briefings and planning mean something, as a team or sp, not just a given ‘this is what to do’, sort of linear entry/exit, but in an open world. Open world missions mean planning before hand, the player decides more on how to execute the mission, not the mission designer..

    Its more or less all available in A2 at the moment, so I would think it will all come to A3 over time. Flying a heli as in TOH would be nice, but would have to be player choice, because its not that easy and would put some players off flying..;)

    That's right, find the range via first shots landing, then shorter bursts after that, they should not decrease aiming value. Not tested this so not sure what they're doing at the moment.

The reason being, I'm assuming he may be a complete newbie, sometimes its just nice to run through with a more detailed description of how to install your mod/addons and user configs neat and tidy. What savage above has done is very helpful, hope the OP gets it, if not, the offer still stands.
  16. I don't think they will implement it engine side, there is far more important things that will keep them busy for some while, I feel. But it would be nice to see some dismemberment that looks o.k. as said there, complete with clothed body parts etc.
  17. I think we need a mod/addon, not sure they will put it in game, possibly better as a addon. There was someone working on a new SLX style gore addon for A2 a while back, not sure what happened there.     That’s better for those interested, they can see what a similar pc to your's can do. Nice that you can play the game, but the thing to remember is, there are intel and amd users playing it just as well, and probably many playing it a whole lot better, than either of us..;)

    I have msi running all the time, also use Playclaw for cpu monitoring, msi doesn’t do that for ati. Marries up with the in-game menu value as well as the in-game fps counter, on my machine. I have a test on YT, it’s a video but made of screenshots, gives an accurate fps count (here), plus shows limited benefit of having the menu up on screen (+1-2fps). That was on Stratis, fps was very high on there 60/70fps inland, 100+ airfield. _______ This is single player, don’t do mp now, but it handles A2 mp really well, so I would imagine it would get by in A3. However, I would only ever play on a private server, not public. I used to play with a small group of friends, around 30 of us on a private server run by one of the group, performance was very good indeed in A2, would be the same for A3, I have no doubt of that. Servers, you have to be on a good one. setup right. SP missions average 40-50fps, that's my own missions, designed to be performance based, limit of 150 ai on the map. There the type of skirmish missions I play the most, keeps ai sensible, well as much as possible in A3. I also put up a guide regards ai amounts and fps performance, cpu usage, gpu usage etc, that's on YT (in 'Other A2 & A3', playlist). __ Regards Machines: Show some results by all means, it helps, rather than just saying amd are no good with arma, which is completely false. Intel and AMD machines are having problems with the game, why, who knows but its not exclusive to either machine. Its probably the machine setup, imho.. Plus the players expectations, playing badly made missions, will give bad performance. A badly setup machine is another story, go play cards..:rolleyes:
