    Multiplayer dying fast??

Certainly there are players that have come across from less realistic shooter games, they find A3 refreshingly realistic, which it is to most other games about war. Arma 2, as most would agree, is more realistic, but less great on the eye and some other things, for some, not me. Arma 3 has got the engine running at its limits, for the eye candy and other bits that are really not needed, for example pip, overly heavy clouds, need I say underwater, etc, its causing its own problems. The lack of any reasonable ai is one of them, along with content and some of the mod makers from the past, who could help pick the game up. I don’t play mp (public), so don’t know how its fairing in actual playing terms, but I can imagine some of those players that came across are going back again to bf etc, maybe not a bad thing, but bad for BI. This middle ground they find themselves in, I know I’ve said it before, but they are in a middle ground, neither realistic enough for some, or gamey enough for others. The game has been put in the wrong place, more realistic and it would keep the faithful that want decent ‘sim like’ gaming (not sim, but sim like) happy. Or, on the other hand, gamey enough to keep the majority of new comers from other shooters happy, without this endless updating problem that was experienced with A2 for so long. It finds itself in neither place, perhaps that is why the trend seems downwards, only going off what I have read here and elsewhere, for mp. It won’t die, no game really dies, there is always some fans somewhere, but it’s the lifespan of the series that might die, which would be a shame, i.e. no A4, because they realise there’s no big call for it, enough to make any money, therefore the series ends. I like A3 for some things, it does graphics better, but they need to drop other things to concentrate on the really needed, from my point that would be ai, others would want other things, but just drop the really un-needed. For me, its too over zealous, it wants to be too much, one day it maybe a classic, players will say, yes remember Arma 3, it had this and that and what about the other things it had. But they never play it, just reminisce, ofp is like that now, no one really plays it anymore, but many hanker over its gaming type. That is what may happen with A3 in a different way, but the difference is, the ofp crowd moved onto arma, then arma2, the arma 3 crowd may have nowhere to move on to. I believe that its aimed at mp, if it doesn’t do well there, then the continuation of the whole series, could be in doubt. That’s only my opinion.

    Terrain Improvement (dev branch)

Got to agree there. I like Outerra. Anteworld is fun, its in its infancy, but like anything, time should improve things. Its pretty epic in its scale and will be interesting to watch maybe 2-3yrs ahead, if they manage to keep it going. Some nice vehicles, aircraft, buildings and others, appearing too.

    Newbie - Arma 3 - wat's the big deal?

That's the right way, try and get into a group/clan with like minded players, user made missions, preferably your own or the groups. Then as @chow860 said, arma shines, although better still do it with arma2, far more realistic game-play wise, although not as graphically pleasing, but really that is not important when looking for a really good gaming experience. ;).
  4. Very nice indeed, great work, hope everything goes along well...:)

    Guerra do Ultramar

Wow, looks fantastic, can't wait, and for Arma 2, even better..:D
  7. This is another great step, amazing work.:)
  8. Because it’s the best game in the series so far, I’ll keep playing and using many of the great islands, this one included. Thanks for the update.:)
  9. Thanks for sharing this, and thanks again to Armaholic for hosting, easy, quick and reliable.
  10. Yep, agree, very good so far, hope you manage to release at some stage.:)
  11. I did know the buildings were bracer’s, but I thought you had done the interiors, so apologies bracer. So its great work bracer, and nice folder moving m1lkm8n.. ;)
  12. This is looking really great bracer, m1lkm8n has done a fine job for the enterable buildings, same as in Sahrani over is A2. It will be a map well worth waiting for, I will look forward to it sometime later on down the road. Also the buildings will be a treat to use on other terrains, if they come first. Great work guys. For A2 as well, even better..;)
  13. Looking really good, nice to see A2 still being thought about..:)
  14. I'm not into A3, its still all A2 for me. But this map will bring me sightseeing at the very least, it will be grand, better still if it was for A2, which originally I think bracer said it was, shame that:(. Still, sightseeing will be fun. Great work and I'm ready to pack my bags and catch a flight over, well you know, visit your map..:o

Priority of Bugfixing and features of BIS

Maybe in Finland, a company can setup and produce unfit products and get away with it, they do here in the U.K, but the consequences can be pretty bad. Regards the rest, yes its my opinion as yours is yours, you say everyone else thinks the game is fine, I'm not so sure, really, are you.. Don't want to derail so I've said what I said and it stands for anyone to prove or disprove, I'm not really that concerned as I don't play A3 much, the tracker tells the story of whether or not the game is right as it stands..
  16. Good luck with this, A3 needs something, that's for sure..

Priority of Bugfixing and features of BIS

I see no difference here than any of the other threads similar, including the recently closed thread. They seem to ask legitimate questions, but then get bogged down by the people who deny anything is wrong, plus get no answers from BI. The company ‘BI’ have a duty to employ enough people of the correct qualifications to provide the product that has been paid for, that’s it, nothing more to say, that's what being in business means. The game is full of problems, has been for many years, only in this industry would they get away with it, then ask for money up front to try it all again, weird really. I ran my own company for just over 30yrs, building very large leisure activity items, these had to be correct and built/finished to a high standard ‘before’ I got any payment, i.e. they required a government legislated independently certificated, ‘certificate of conformity’ inspection, that was to both British Standards and CE euro standards, to be issued, for a payment to made, and in-fact for the item to be allowed to be used. BI should stand up and say, the game is not to a sellable state, I don’t even think many would ask for their money back, provided they say, they intend to fix it and in what time frame, even a year, but they don’t, that leads to these repeated threads, that just come on here and if not liked by the regime, I understand that too, its run by fans, so its hard to get across complaints when they think there is nothing wrong, so therefore threads that they can’t agree with are closed. OP, you ask what the policy is, its answered above, it seems fairly obvious to me, after over a decade of dodging the issues, its pretty much sure we can say, they’re not really that bothered.. That’s completely on topic, all of it, I use my own experiences of producing and selling as an example, not as a boast of any kind, most all reputable companies provide items built/made that are fit for and intended for purpose plus worth the money paid. The tracker is a prime example, BI should throw off all of the things that don't apply, things they would argue weren't going to be part of the game or makeup of the game originally, but they should say that these things weren't going to be done. Then they should have a good look at the tracker and decide in which order of importance they will start putting things right. Don't let the customer rule what you didn't intend providing, tell them straight, what was intended, don't hang around making the problem grow, because all that happens, the longer you leave it, the larger the problem grows. I use the word reputable, reputable companies can make mistakes, but the first good practise is to issue a statement acknowledging that fact, then giving a time frame in which they will put it right, completely right, everything working as it should to the original spec/design/format etc.. Not a lot to ask of a company, not really.
  18. Yes, but its always been like that, there are some things you simply have to ‘turn a blind eye to’, if you know the saying. The thing I choose to ignore probably more than anything, is clipping through things, its annoying but that’s that. This is with A2, I don’t bother much with A3, there are lots of issues with the game. What I am trying to say is those can be put up with if you find a good game i.e. modded, that suits what you need/want. It’s the same with other games, some you feel, well this would be a great game if I could flank, instead of staying on this road, where a plank on two barrels becomes a wall you cannot pass, i.e. linear. This game is the only one of its type, there are many problems with it, but what is the alternative to this game, you either put up with things you don’t like or stop playing it. There are more problems in A3 because of the direction change imo, a reluctance to make it too realistic/sim like, it would stop appealing to mainstream players. For instance going for cover, its been available for years now (modded), whereby the ai will go for cover realistically (I have vid testing on my yt), I can’t remember not playing the game without using it. I agree with what you say regards, they should fix it for vanilla, in A3 the going for cover in vanilla is a joke, but they won’t, or probably more to the point, they can’t seem to fix it or want to, its sort of embedded bad practise, maybe because the staff that could remedy it, have moved on, who knows. Many of the problems you see, have been around a long time, but some, mod/addons have helped correct many issues, the others will never be corrected properly imo, you just have to find what you can put up with and enjoy, or move on. I was trying to get over to you, its possible to have a superb game, if you use mod/addons to help achieve that. I used ai in particular for an example, only because I’m obsessed with having believable ai. In A2 there are addons that allow for very realistic heli flight, medical assessment, ai behaviour, clipping issues, better penetration damage model, etc. There are lots of correction and ‘better play’ mod/addons out there, its just looking for them (arma/arma2). I know it should not have to be the case, but it is, BI it seems are incapable of correcting many issues. But on the bright side look at what we have, what BI created, its pretty amazing, even with all its faults. That’s from someone who is not a fan-boy in any way. I love the game, but I only love the game the way I have it setup, I don't bother with the vanilla game at all..;)
  19. OP: While I would agree with much you say regards vanilla ai, I would say A3 has a problem for the realistic minded player, but appeals to the gamey type player, that’s not an issue, that is just how its turned out, for trolls and fan-boys to deny that is only natural. Now, where I would say, you haven’t enjoyed this great series, is by not using ai mod/addons, this would have completely changed your mind where arma and arma2 were concerned. With arma3 its more difficult, the best ai mod/addon makers have gone, so its going to take time, or indeed money, to correct the ai, its woeful at present, even with the available ai mod/addons for arma3. That’s not to say they are bad mods, it’s the course the game has taken, its aimed more at being accessible toward, dare I say for the trolls & fan-boys to object to, ‘mainstream’, don’t care too much for trolls or fan-boys, they tend to be a waste of space. My only advice to you is try returning to A2 and introducing ai mod/addons to your game, it’s a completely different game, very realistic and unbeatable, if that is what you crave ‘realism’. When I first came on here, only a year or so ago, really when the group I was playing in looked as though it would be finishing, it did, as a group we always played using a mixture of mod/addons, it made the game, as said, completely different, realistic and believable. This was scourned really by many on here, well the ones that will write here in this thread telling you, your opinion is wrong, its just the way it operates here, its a fan forum, but there are many groups, in-fact probably the majority of arma players, that don't bother on here much, they know what to expect. But don’t be put off, there are many good players on here playing the game in a realistic way, giving good advice and pointing you towards things to try. That's not including myself I can't make a mod/addon no talent that way, I just mixed and tested (and boy, did I test) existing mod/addons made by very talented makers. Its just trying different formats to suit your game, it is possible to have the game like COD if that’s what you want (obviously you don’t want it like that), but it is also possible to have it as the best mil/sim game around, also everywhere in-between those two playing types, that's how versatile this series is. The balance, I think you may want, is realistic ‘game’ play, that’s easily attainable with arma and arma2. But at the present time you’ll struggle to get that with arma3, in-fact imo you won’t get it in sp even using the editor. In pvp or mp where your playing against humans, the game will be different obviously, but really you need to join a group, don’t like the word clan, that way you can play the game with like minded players, chances are they will be using a mix of mods or their own made ai mod/addons, many groups use their own, that change the game enough to suit what your looking for. Using the right mix of ai mod/addons or just a good full conversion mod and you can make the game, sp & coop, very good indeed, humans against ai as a team, is a really great realistic game when you have it setup properly. Its not arma or arma2 its just arma3 at the moment, just the direction of the game, its changed, making it harder to find that realistic element. May come to A3 later though, who knows..;)

    COWarModACE Release thread

Maybe I best be clear, I saw the question and it rang a bell with me. Don’t use cowarmod myself, but had the same type of problem, I run lots of mods, just might be he had the pbo from wherever I had it from. That was the pbo for me anyhow, don't use ace either..;)

    COWarModACE Release thread

Something is conflicting, I had the problem awhile back and it was the pbo 'nom_m113' not sure now which mod its from, but made a note of the pbo, so just enter a search, see if that's what your is. Don't delete it just move it out and check first. Not sure even now what it was conflicting with, but still, don't use it now..;)

    Arma 2 OA Map list

Good place to start: http://www.armaholic.com/list.php?c=arma2_oa_files_addons_islands :)
  23. That's lazy mission making, just throw down groups and don't bother with behaviour, its the worst type of mission making. Agree with the comment most serious clan/groups/players play with mod help, its a case of you have to, you then get the best from the game, by a long way. Vanilla is not an option for realistic game-play, for me and all the players I know personally. Great to have one mod that covers everything now.

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

I’m just wondering with the new revelations regards the US bugging the German chancellors phone, whether or not the US is now getting completely isolated from the world regards friends (as in countries)..
  25. Vilas, will you be making anymore addons for the series, or is the door closing now ? Be sad if it does close, you've made a lot for the game, all really appreciated by most of us..
