  1. Sometimes in this series, you just have to turn a blind eye. Happens in every game from time to time, fill in the blanks with your imagination. The guy in the video above, got shot after having a large lunch, stuff like that.. ;)
  2. Your only cementing what I was assuming took place. The performance was acceptable and the AI were mind dead.. You managed to kill 100 AI every hour, well done. Oh, here.. :coop:
  3. 400 in a day...:butbut:.. I like your logic... lets keep it 'real'........ I'm just glad I don't play with your clan or the ones you know. Get yourself some decent AI and you wouldn't kill that many over lots of days/weeks/sittings, with 20-30 of you playing co-op against AI. Of course there may be 300 of you playing in the clan all playing the same mission/campaign, in which case its getting a little nearer the realistic mark for the amount of kills you state, but I doubt that's the case. ;) _ @Bravo409, its a valid point you have, if your using some decent AI, which of course GL4/5 are. They can be heavier and having large numbers will simply dumb them down without a good cache system, one that keeps their behaviour in-tact (very important, but not easy to find). Concerning the difference between packed or not, I'm not sure of that myself, but I wouldn't be surprised. AI is very odd and can behave very differently from pc to pc, so its more than possible your pc finds the script version heavier for some reason. I wouldn't want more than 120AI in combat at one time anyway, just to keep them intelligent, even with my upgrade system and using the mod I do. Its very rare we'll have more than 50-70 AI in combat in the same location at one time anyway (usually a lot lower numbers than that), just the way we play. We also wouldn't be looking to kill all 50-70, we couldn't with our AI. There's around 20 of us playing co-op against AI, we would be looking to get away somehow, escape the situation rather than stay and get killed from the superior enemy (AI) numbers. Because they will win, I have no doubt of that. Certainly we couldn't despatch the numbers of AI mentioned above in that post, that would be very un-realistic. Of course you can have many hundreds of AI on the terrain, as long as the amounts meeting together and in combat don't exceed what your pc can handle to keep your AI sensible. That's not what your pc can perform at, with AI around i.e. fps wise. The two are different in my experience, handling larger AI numbers on screen or in the same location can be fine, but then wanting them to be good AI (sensible), ones that will be a very good opponent, is another matter. Many pc's will run with lots of AI on the screen or in the same location, all in combat, but won't realise the pc can't handle the number intelligently. But that's when you get silly kill numbers, as above. Because the AI just become basic bots to be killed. Which is no fun at all, imo. The best AI available, or indeed not (publically) available, will fail, if the pc running it can't handle the numbers. But like I said, if you want good AI, ones that think a little more and play using tactics. Then use a decent AI mod or mix of mods, then watch those AI numbers, in combat at one time. Plus of course testing, its very important that you know what your setup can handle AI wise, or game wise. :)

FIFA is corrupted to the bone

Concerning bankers, I think that will have to be left to Iceland, they have already done it a few times. More power to their elbow, as they say. They're one of the only countries that held the banks liable, well those in Iceland at least. Most of the rest can still go about laundering money and committing fraud on a grand scale and not be touched. But your right, we can only dream, unfortunately I think that's all it will be.. a dream. :(

FIFA is corrupted to the bone

Its just nice that a country got the balls together to actually do something about it, instead of piddle-footing around. Good on the US. Electric chair me thinks.. O.k. a little too far..:o Lethal injection then.
  6. Thanks for your work on maintaining this mod, I really enjoy using it. :)
  7. OP. The pics are great and the article is very interesting. There are many comparison pics around, but these are very good indeed. Thanks for posting them.
  8. Official missions and custom missions.. Then you would perhaps be better off with ASR. That way missions may be less likely to break. That said, any mission can break when adding AI mod/addons to it unless it was made with that mod in mind, so nothing is guaranteed. I don't use ASR, never have really other than comparisons to other AI mods. But I don't hear many players saying official missions get broken using it, so logic makes me feel ASR could be the better option for those playing that type of mission.

    The Newcomers' Introduction Thread

Welcome.. And the Editor is the best place to be. ;)
  10. MSI-Afterburner will limit fps.
  11. Its a pastime, you have to have something to do in life. :681: We would be lucky if we were able to mount an invasion force to the Isle of Man now..;)

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

I understand what you are saying, that's why I think private servers are better (just imo). But really its just about those that can't get off the doorstep of the game, if you understand what I mean. Those that put 1 unit on empty map and get 20fps, but they want to play the game. Not going to happen for them, is it. :(
  13. I agree with some of your points. Yes, certainly players can't expect to have 100's of ai pottering around in towns (all visible). But that is more mission design, don't you think. The use of cache systems, ai numbers, locations, how many your likely to meet at one time in combat, what mods your running (if any), effects in-game, something as simple as weather and so on. Players should always expect, that the game can only be played to the level their own pc will allow, when ai numbers, view distance and so on are taken into account, plus of course what other settings they use. However, that said, players not being able to run the game when there is only one unit in the editor on an empty island, is not a fault of the game, its got to be more player side than BI side. Benchmarks are great, if you play the game the way the benchmark is setup. But very few do, you would need hundreds of benchmarks really, because the game can be played so many ways i.e. pick the bench that suits your play. That isn't going to happen, so the better way, is get into the editor and make scenarios, until you find the level at which your pc can handle the detail thrown at it. But again, that is only good for those that can, at least, run the game. Those that have bad performance from the outset, are never going to run the game anyway. Sad, but mostly true. Regards overclocking, its something I've never gone into much myself. I would tend to buy the machine that does the job I want it to do from the outset and that would be after seeking advice about it. I know some would argue, that's fine if you can afford it. But.. If your going to OC your pc, 1/ you have to know what your doing and 2/ you can't guarantee it doesn't have the opposite effect, which it can (just read online some of the stories people have about OC'ing gone wrong :butbut:). Before doing any of that, you have to be sure you can get beyond the start of the game and at least (test in editor) have a number of ai and things happening around you in-game before attempting any OC'ing. Then after trying OC'ing, run that exact same test, the same way, a few times to see if its making any difference at all. I'll be honest, I don't think it would make a huge difference, if your pc was bought at 3.0ghz, its not going to ever run like a 4.0ghz machine (of the same make). Well I don't believe that anyway.

    Movie editor program

I agree with you. I use MM and its pretty bad, also unreliable, it can just randomly stop for no reason after putting text on. There again with the internet speed I have now, since moving, its pretty pointless trying to upload videos. Although they are putting in the fibre optic lines to the village here, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :)
  15. I'm not sure clock speed is all its hyped up to be, to be honest. I do agree a fast core is vital. But huge core speeds!, I'm not so sure. I've put in the other thread some links for when I've clocked down from 4.4 down to 3.8ghz. The performance is still very good. Above 3.0ghz with A3 and I think you should run it easy enough. I know not everyone is, but I would be looking internally for the problems and not externally i.e. at BI. BI know players have problems but they have to optimise the best they can, to hit the masses, rather than the few. I know its not great for all, but what are they supposed to do, its pc gaming, not console, you'll never get 'even' performance, across the platform.

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

Overclocking isn't as straight forward an increase as some may think. I can clock down from 4.4ghz to 3.8ghz and still get very good performance. Its more about what you have going on in the background and on your pc to begin with i.e. updating whilst your trying to play etc. These things can and will make a difference, I believe that anyway. 'Lean & Clean' is the best you can do for gaming in general. I do think trying to maintain a good gpu usage 80-100%. Below that and I would be looking to see why. I don't like cutter in-game (terrain setting), but here I've put terrain on 'standard', I would usually have it set to low when playing, just personal preference. Everything else, I like, is set to the highest or ultra apart from VD which is 3000 in these. Details are in the pics using msi-afterburner. Clocking down using ETU from intel, easy tool to use. Core voltage 1.250** 3.8ghz 1 3.8ghz 2 3.8ghz 3 Putting up the VD to 5000 would not take much away. After that it will start to hit a lot larger with each '1000'. But there again you don't need huge VD in this series, 2500 is a good setting for ground forces. In the air perhaps 6-7000 and reduce the terrain detail if you are having performance issues whilst flying, because you don't need it really. I'll clock down again to 3.5 see what happens. I think it will be much the same performance wise. Haven't done that before so I'd be interested to see anyway. __ Edit: I clocked down to 3.5ghz plus core voltage to 1.10***. Same location and settings as above. 3.5ghz __ Edit again: Clocked up towards its usual level of 4.4ghz. All the same settings as those used above and same location. Core voltage 1.250*** 4.0ghz 4.2ghz 4.4ghz Results on this very un-technical test is, 14fps difference between 3.5ghz & 4.4ghz. So there is a small'ish increase in performance/fps, but really you would need to make scenarios in the editor and test for actual in-game performance. For me when in-game, I don't get issues with the scenarios I make. In-fact A3 runs better than A2 ran. But I can have a little over 100 ai in town (Takistan) in A2 with all engaged in combat and still maintain reasonably good fps, that would mean +50/60fps-110fps depending on how heavy fighting/firing etc. I have a video up on YT of that and some other tests. I don't really play A3 much, so don't bother with videos for it, other than quick testing of AI mod behaviour.
  17. I think a lot of what we see and hear concerning this type of thing is fabricated in a way to suit the government concerned. But that's isn't new, its propaganda, which has been around forever (probably). Tell someone what you want them to know about something, then bend the truth if you want them to believe what your saying, in a certain way, that gets your point across to your advantage. We the British did this a lot during the second world war, propaganda to suit the governments point of view and in many cases to help lift the spirits of the nation, especially early in the war. But that's life, these things happen and its just a matter of believing what you believe. In the end its all you can do, its down to the person to decide for themselves what, they believe, is or isn't 'fact'. Because your not going to get to the full truth, or very rarely. Maybe perhaps decades later when docs are released, even then it leaves many questions unanswered. Best just to get on with your life and hope it doesn't touch you in a way that impacts you or your family negatively. I know this is a narrow way to view it, but really that is what it comes down too in the end, each to their own.
  18. You seem to know quite a lot, you don't have a funny handshake.. do you..;)
  19. I record with msi afterburner and it costs me around -20-25fps (minus) and causes all sorts of performance issues. However, even with that msi performance hit, this test would still be running at a very good fps. We're in a town here, and there are around 20ai plus me. Its a small test, but I have no issues running SP or MP (private server), with A3. With lots of mods running and plenty of ai. Can't understand the performance problems some are having with the game.
  20. You yourself, can't truly believe what you have written here, can you ? I can think of many MP's, prime ministers, presidents etc. That lie almost continuously it seems. Blair, Bush (both), Brown, Obama, Thatcher, just to mention a few western ones, that have lied 'barefaced'. Never mind eastern politics.
  21. I don't like clutter, which of course plays in my favour. I'm running a few islands and mods (one particular heavy mod), so the performance hit is a little here. But these are my settings for A3. This is me just stood on Altis, in the editor. These are not set for performance or anything, just to my liking. There is little difference changing Dy/Lts or x6/x8 aa. Its a very odd game where settings are concerned, as you know. Ultra on some settings run better than Standard. Anyway hope this gives you an idea to test from. Oh, turn off v-sync if you haven't already. Pics Also OP, there is something wrong somewhere, your performance should be much better than your saying for your setup. I was getting good performance (in the 50's fps), with an Athlon IIx64 with a HD5850 2gb card prior to giving it to the wife for housekeeping use. :)

    Project CARS

I can remember back in 97/98 when Gran Turismo (1) came out. One of my sons friends couldn't believe that one of the cars on our driveway was in the game at the time. They're ten a penny now, but at the time it was only used (14mths old ours was) low mileage imports from Japan that were making there way over here to the UK. It was the Mitsubishi FTO-GPX. The music system in the one we had, would be considered futuristic even now, amazing setup. It had the Tiptronic gearbox, really easy to drive and was a fairly fast little car. I bought it for the wife for Christmas, she loved it. Time flies. :(
  23. No it wasn't aimed at you @NightIntruder, but at @gienkov. He said he thought A2 was dead platform, well those were the words. I was just asking him if he thought it was really a dead platform/game. I am certainly not giving up A2CO just yet, still lots of life in the game yet. With great mod/addons coming along like this and all those that went before, well you can't just turn and walk away. ;)
  24. You really think its a dead platform..
