    G'day RHS Devs,

Congratulations on the announcement of the Heavy Haulage vehicles and working trailer system, it's been a feature that has been surely needed.

Can I ask if you are intending to add any vehicles to support Maintenance activities? By this I mean trucks/humvees fitted with dedicated workshop bodies, towing/maintenance cranes etc.

Looking forward to whatever the team turns out next. Keep up the good work.

    Regards

    Wansec_6

I don't think immediately. The PLS A1 can support the M7 Forward Repair Facility, but it's quite a bit of work for something niche.

  2. Hello everyone,

A bit of news to share with you- yes we didn't forget about releases, we just keep upping the stuff we're adding right now!

We've had a few authors hard at work on some heavy lift. We already showed off the MTVR a few months back, and that's 99% good to go. But as Billy Mays (rip) says, "I'M NOT DONE YET!"

The absolutely talented and amazing @Delta Hawk made a very special vehicle, the M916 Light Equipment Tractor (LET), and two trailers: the M871 and M870 trailers. We previously didn't think of including a tractor because without trailers they are effectively useless. Now @reyhard came through and made a working trailer system! Insane, I know. We'll have more to announce as we keep working on the system!

As for lift, it doesn't end there either. We're hard at work on a newly injected HEMTT, as the old one was a bit inaccurate. It will also add two new models, the M1120A4 LHS, and the M983A4 Tractor. Further, the massive 10 wheel drive PLS A1 (M1075A1) will be added!

    7WoGUFq.png

M916 LET with the M870 "Lowboy" trailer. This type of trailer is typically used to transport vehicles, and can accommodate about 36,000kg.

    g22rtNk.png

M916 on a road move with the M871 Trailer. This is a more traditional flatbed trailer. Notice the angle the trailer is at; this is due to the much larger wheels fitted to the M916 LET. A typical commercial highway tractor would have smaller wheels to ensure the load remains level, however this vehicle prioritizes performance on rough roads. It is carrying an intermodal container, sometimes called a CONEX in the US Army, or Sea Can elsewhere.

    5nrLJyc.jpg

A super early build of our M1075A1 PLS (Palletized Load System). This monstrous vehicle has 10 wheels, over 5 axles! It normally is driven 6x10, with all 6 rear wheels being powered. In adverse conditions the front 2 axles can be engaged for 10x10 drive. Each tire is 53", and this unarticulated vehicle is over 11 meters long! To assist in steering this house on wheels, it actually has 3 steering axles. The front 2 turn the direction the driver steers, while a steering replicator allows the 3rd axle to counter-steer. The turning radius however, remains shockingly bad. Just as in real life, the 600Hp 15L inline six engine is fitted to a 6 speed automatic transmission. The engine produces an incredible 1850lb ft of torque at low RPM. Although most US states limit commercial vehicles to 80,000lbs total (including the truck and trailer), US military vehicles are not bound by such regulations.  Therefore, a PLS A1 when equipped with a trailer is capable of moving 135,000lbs, which again, is INSANE. All this power gets some stunning fuel economy, too. Stunningly bad, that is! A PLS A1 averages 2.5 Miles Per Gallon (117.5 l/100km). To give it some chance of range, it carries 704L of diesel! The PLS A1 is visually similar to the HEMTT, and shares a lot of components. However, that didn't stop me from being able to re-use very little, and it took another 6 months to model the PLS A1 while redoing the HEMTT A4 series.

Thanks for everyone's support, stay tuned for more!

Am I remembering correctly? This vehicle was in RHS a couple of years ago and was removed?

You are correct! Another developer started an MTVR, unfortunately they left the project and no longer wanted their model included. This model is made completely from scratch and wasn't able to use any of their componentry.

  4. RHS is extremely excited to announce our newest model, the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) family of tactical trucks! The MTVR is a medium capacity vehicle rated for 7 tons (7000Kg) off road. All six wheels are permanently driven through a sophisticated 6x6 system, mated to a massive 12 Litre inline engine producing 450 horsepower and an earth shattering 1550lb ft of torque (2101 Nm). In game players can expect to find 3 major configurations, the Mk 23 cargo, Mk 27 extended cargo, and Mk 37 HIMARS resupply. The vehicle comes in several versions, ranging from a peacetime un-armored cab all the way to the MTVR Armor System (MAS) equipped beast armed with an M2 Machinegun in a protected Marine Corps Transparent Armored Gun Shield (MCTAGS) turret. Currently the vehicle is available to test on the development branch, and following some finishing touches can be expected in the next major release. We have also published a short video detailing some of the capabilities of the vehicle, below!

Enjoy everyone, and remember: since I infuriate approximately 3.6% of everyone each time we make a new truck, I should reassure you by stating I'm already making another truck! More wheels, MANY more wheels. Get hyped (but not too much bc these models take 6-12 months / model).

  5. Today we are extremely excited to announce the release of 0.5.5. This major update will allow you to bring the fight to the enemy on both sides, with a ton of new equipment, weaponry, and vehicles. Beginning with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, their personal equipment received a major overhaul. Soldiers can now equip some cool new "Ratnik" gear, as well as a number of load bearing vests with realistic loadouts for different roles. On top of this, the VKPO and 6Sh117 uniforms have been added in several variants, and yes the Russian Forces now have gloves on multiple versions of their uniform. The Russians also have a number of classic uniforms, in a wide range of camouflage patterns. Further, a few special items such as the KLMK oversuit were also added! For weaponry, players can expect to finally field the legendary RPK-74M Automatic Rifle, with a number of unique addons and features, including new high capacity magazines. Finally, these new mechanized infantry soldiers can go to battle in the new T-15 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (work in progress).

The US Armed Forces also receives some new kit. Adding to the extensive line of up-armor capable light vehicles, the M1165A1 Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMV) is released to transport SOF personnel into contested space. This armored, off-road capable 4x4 is also equipped with some exotic weaponry, including the M134D, and other dual weapon combos. Speaking of armor, the M1A2 SEPV2 was finally added! This represents the current mainstay of US Armor forces, until the SEPV3 is widely delivered to units. Finally, the M-ATV received a new up armor package consisting of the Q-Net armor system, suitable to defeat HEAT style weaponry. Finally, new sniper scopes were added!

We also added a few improvised explosives to GREF and SAF got several fixes! All of this comes with a bunch of changes, so please consult the change logs!

Last but not least we would like to thank all the Patrons (https://www.patreon.com/redhammerstudios) that have answered our call and have supported us! You guys are making a real difference! A big shoutout to:

That looks great!  I believe it was you who said, in the past, that there was some effort to "muddy up" tires on the various vehicles.  Is that still on the to-do list or was any progress made (even if it's isn't ready for public consumption yet)?

Regardless, looking forward to the update!

Yeah, so it is, but we haven't made any progress. Vehicles like this have new baked wheels and are GTG, but things like the MATV have kind of crappy wheels that we want to eventually redo.

    G'day @Richards.D,

Really liking how the new GMV is coming along. Have been using the Dev branch version over the last couple of days and am loving it. Will it have multiple liveries to match the other SOF assets available?

Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the M134 variant.

    Hello,

Yes, it will have a WD camouflage pattern as well. I don't know if we'll do a "deployment" cam similar to the MATV, that one didn't turn out very well and looked a bit ugly. But perhaps we'll do one, not sure yet.

Assaulter up! The M1165A1 Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMV) provides protection, firepower, and cross-country mobility to Special Operations Forces (SOF) Assaulters, Operators, and Supporters across a variety of missions.

The M1165A1 GMV is fitted with a large amount of SOF peculiar equipment, including the Save-A-Gunner II Turret (SAG-2), a custom rear armored capsule, external stowage, and more. Transporting a total of 7 personnel (including the driver and gunners), the vehicle uniquely has the option to embark four additional personnel on running boards, when fitted.

Ferociously armed, the M1165A1 GMV is fitted with 2x M240 Medium Machineguns, and an M2A1 Heavy Machinegun, among other weapons. The M1165A1 also protects its crew through the standard threat (B Kit) armor platform, a new armor package that is currently exclusive to this model in RHS.

Players can expect to field this unique SOF platform in our next major update, and there may be other weapons platforms fitted as well!

The current intent for weapons packages is each version will mount 2x M240 (one rear and one on the SAG-2 turret). The main armament will at this stage be the M2A1, however we want an M134D version as well, although no work has commenced on that, yet.

Model was made by myself, configured by @da12thMonkey and @reyhard. @Foxone provided the HP version of the H24-6 flexible mount for the M240 machinegun, an awesome addition and wouldn't have been able to make the model without it! @da12thMonkey did the amazing animations for external pers, and @reyhard did the equally awesome dual weapon turret configuration and animations! Oh also, @gurdy made all the pioneer tools, originally for the Stryker.

    Cheers!

Could you share what´s coming next?

No. We generally don't share any content until we've got it in game at the very least. Because people's schedules can change and result in models being delayed or cancelled for years, we avoid any pre-release hype. It's not fair to anyone to get their hopes up when, as a free mod we can never promise, and never try to stick to any deadlines. So, you'll be the first to see any new content, with everyone else as soon as we start sharing it publicly- once we are confident it'll make it into the mod.

Okay I’ve got a question, are we to expect an Oshkosh L-atv/jltv any time soon

No. We've discussed, and it just doesn't provide much over the M-ATV, in terms of capability. So, we're focusing on some more diverse platforms and upgrades to existing vehicles for now, before we add any more 4x4 MRAPs. Wwe already have the M1240, M1245, M1238A1, etc.

Edit: I'm going to add some additional perspective. Each unique (new) vehicle takes approximately 6-12 months of production, from modelling, HP/LP Baking, UV Unwrapping the LP, texturing, and then injection, configging, scripts/anims etc. So from my perspective, since we already have 2 4x4 MRAPs that fulfil basically the same purpose, I'd rather not spend another 12 months on that when we can potentially deliver a new platform for some breadth to the content.

    Merry Christmas

    G'day @Richards.D,

I watched you video about the M1151 update with interest. I know you said that the GMV variants were a stage 2 production and I realize it may be some time before they are worked upon, if at all, but could I ask what sort of features and functions they may be equipped with?

    Keep up the good work

Yep, so what @da12thMonkey said for eqpt. The GMV we've decided to make is the post 2006 unified version, with armor protection eqpt.

It's pretty early to promise any features, but the basic version will have ample machineguns, with an M2 and 2x M240. This is just our first commit onto dev, so basically nothing works on this yet, it will likely be several months of config and setup before it is fully workable, but model wise it is basically complete. Textures will still need working, re-baking, and a WD version etc etc.

Everyone, we are extremely excited to announce the release of 0.5.3! Although COVID-19 has affected all of us in many ways, we have continued to work when able. In this update, you will finally take to the road in the up-armor equipped M1151, M1152, and M1165! For our Russian Forces, the combat engineers are now equipped with the might KrAZ 255 heavy truck and pontoon bridging equipment! There are literally thousands of fixes and other content too, please read the changelogs for more.

Unfortunately, we are terribly sad to announce the passing of one of the developer's close family members. For this reason, we dedicate this release in loving memory of them.

Was the Q-net designed to combat HEAT warheads? Also on the M-ATV what purpose did the led light pods serve mounted on the roof and will we ever see those animated?

I wouldn't use the term "Warhead". I mean, it's not like it'll stop a high velocity MPAT/HEAT round from an MBT lol. But yeah, it's designed to pre-detonate shape charge HEAT low/med velocity weapons like shoulder launched AT rockets, the idea being it uses an air gap IOT dissipate the energy from the charge and disallow the explosively formed penetrator to form and penetrate the actual armor.

Little last minute addition to the next update. The M1240 "A1" version will be added! The main changes vs. the normal version include additional mirrors, tow points, and the underbody armor kit, which also includes a different exhaust system, seen on the passenger side here.

Although not part of the A1 exclusively, we've also made all new, much more detailed/interesting textures for all MATVs!

As you can see, the doors also have mounts fitted. We have also built the "Q-Net" armor system. However, because that is pretty complex we'll wait until after the patch to feature that. However, the A1 will be able to mount this pretty cool system in the future! We also plan to update the wheels to something a bit more detailed after this patch as well.

Here's a little WIP of the painted Q-Net armor LP and a tow bar accessory we'll include in the aforementioned future release:
    N0JcgH7.png

Keep in mind the net piece is on a separate sheet, so it's not here.

Hopefully we can get a release soon for everyone to enjoy the HMMWVs, AFRF stuff, and now this minor MATV update!

Gotta love when you go to Wikipedia for new ideas to beg for, but you're so lazy you don't even remove things we've already made like the MATV. Good times.  We do not accept requests. The next new thing will be announced whenever it's ready, whatever it is.

For the M1151 with the MCTAGS turret for the USMC, will there be a possibility to configure the M240 alongside the Mk. 19, using the same system as the Russian Tigr with it's PKM and AGS-30 turret?

Yes we could do it, but I don't think we will for these. The issue with multi-weapon turrets is the AI can't really use them, depending on the arrangement. For the MCTAGS we don't have the mount for a second weapon either. We usually reserve those turrets for special vehicles, and try to keep our mainstay vehicles more simple and usable.

With the public dev version most likely almost a week behind any changes you guys have been making, my question may be moot at this point, but...

The new HMMVs are being reported by the AI as "MRAP" and when they drive over multiple IEDs that detonate, the hulls and the crew still survive (albeit without any tires).  It seems like these should still be pretty well destroyed after driving over an IED (I was using the scattered trash IEDs in the editor), but the damage it's actually (not) taking seems more in line with the MRAPs.

Was this a config copy "error" or is this intended?  Obviously I can (and have) manipulate the object damage manually by trigger when I need to, but just curious if this was part of a work in progress.

The damage wasn't set up at all. I wouldn't be too concerned with reporting any issues until we fire them out on a public release. Likely we already know and as you've said, have fixed it lol due to the week delay.

I do not want this to seem rude, but have you played with the mod? That specific item, with the exact same name, in those very camo patterns, with no pouches and with pouches exactly has been in game for years - the IOTV.
