  1. Not 100% true. Someone reported that it happened for him once in the strategy campaign. Its probably a flag that isn't set right.
  2. I don't think that there are actually blueprints in the strategy mode as you start with everything. I'd like it if there were blueprints in the strategy game too.

    Soundtrack

Its the second 2/3 or so of GU_Lon's_Theme.
  4. I just did that part, and it happened exactly as you described. Maybe he ran out of time or something?
  5. Ok now that we know the Devs are working on the pathfinding, lets help them out with suggestions on how to improve it. And lets leave the complaining to other threads, ok? :) Here are a couple of my own. A) Have effectively 2 lanes of road for travel. Have say going up locked to the left and going down to the right. That will end the problem of 2 Walrus's Running into one another as they pass; b) Make the edges of Bridges non waypointable terrain for the AI. That way they wont get stuck c) Split up the Waypoints a little when you band select and send the walruses to the same point. This wil stup the walrus's getting tangles up on one another as much. What I mean is, create a seperate destination for each unit around the point where you click. Thats what I do in game anyway now, and should be very easy to implement. Over to you guys!
  6. There's actually a good reason for that. If you watch them in strategic view, you will see that they don't go directly to a waypoint, but instead create mini waypoints to drive to as they progress. So they are continously speeding upand slowing down as they reach the mini waypoint. That's actually a really sophisticated way of doing it which allows them to weave their way through forests as I assume they are going to the area that's got the best driving factor... its just that they get caught up trying to get to the next mini waypoint, which may be behind them, or behind that rock, or behind another walrus or or or.
  7. Ok This thread isn't for whining about the Walrus Pathfinding. This is a thread for methods on how to deal with it so we can enjoy the game a lot more. Ok, after experimenting a bit with it I've found several methods. The Big one is simple., Set separate destinations for each walrus. Its actually pretty easy. Pres 6, click mouse, then 7 *click* 8 *Click* 9 *click*. After a couple of tries and practice, doing this is very fast. The destinations can be pretty close to one another, but as long as they are not the same destination most of the Walruses will happily line up and head for the destination. Generally only one will get hung up on something, and that only happens about 40% of the time. I've actually gotten Walruses to line up and cross a bridge with this method, with little nudging. (The last one got stuck at the end, but it was no problem taking manual control of it and charging in myself) Don't use "Assist" to drag the walruses after you unless you are in fairly open terrain. Since YOU (or the assisted walrus) is the destination, and therefore the destination is the same, the Walruses will snarl up. Only hit assist when you are in a fight, and the walruses will surround and fight with you. Think of assist as issuing a battle command for the group, not a travel command. Stick to the roads unless you are running one manually. This one is pretty much a no brainier. The walrus is actually a very good ATV in human hands, but the AI cant handle it. If you want to do that sneaky cross country raid, then you are doing it on your own unless you are willing to swap between them constantly. Sorry. Thankfully the road network on the Islands is pretty good and will get you everywhere you need to go. I've actually gotten the path-finding AI to down to just minor annoyance levels, with just very occasional babysitting, using these methods and on my last map I had some rip roaring fights with AI walruses and a hell of a lot of fun

    Voice actor volume.

Have you tried updating your soundcard drivers?

    fun factor : ON

Yes, I would prefer the strategy game to have you visiting research labs to get tech like int he campaign, even if it meant giving the AI all the tech at the start as it would not do that.
  10. I thought that is where the Hammerhead launches from.
  11. Its not just about damage. Its range, splash damage and the ability to lob it over a wall or obsticle.

    Destroying Ports?

Here's a question, Would killing the port stop defense islands from strengthening islands connected to them?
  13. You have to remember that pathfinding AI is horrendously difficult. Google A* Pathfinding for Beginners, that is about as simple an example as they come. And you will begin to appreciate how complicated AI Pathfinding actually is. Believe it or not the AI here is not the worst I have ever seen in an RTS strategy game. Dark Riegn 2 had pathing AI so bad it would jumble up all your units when they turned a corner and only release them one at a time, for example. That said, hostile waters AI was pretty ok, but they did not have trees to contend with and the vehicles could basically drive anywhere so there was no possibility of getting stuck on anything. If they did that on this game it would remove a lot of the tactical elements.
  14. Its normal if you take out a command center that the units don't change allegiance. It even tells you so in the mission where you learn how to regen a command center. Its not too bnad actually, you can ship over a manta with a builder walrus using the hook once you have cleared a route, and once the Command center is built the units change sides and you have a fully build island. Otherwise when you leave the island all the units and buildings are destroyed and the Island has to be rebuilt from scratch. Of course if you dont care about that, then nuke the cammand center, sail off, come back and plant it. The other thing as well is that the island immediately becomes neutral which breaks all the links to it, which can cripple the enemies production.

    Carrier Deck Guns

I imagine you could sail to your stockpile Island, then move the shell weapon from your carrier onto the stockpile and the Plasma would go back on.
  16. The "New upgrades" refers to the afterburner module that is automatically installed on Manta's from then on. Or is it turbo for Walruses. Cant remember.
  17. yeah you have to go back to the room where you had the generators and then press a button on the mainframe that started the thing. There's a teleporter pad right outside the door where you watched the "automation in action" that will take you right there.
  18. Hey. Just wondering when the soundtrack link will be send out. I've only been looking forward to it since may :) Thanks again
  19. There's no sinking Animation??? But there's a sinking animation in the trailer they released a week before the release. It starts around 1.49

Holy... Ok Here are a couple of my saves. The first one is on outpost, but I'm not sure where the other one is but its a little later, but before baccus https://dl.dropbox.com/u/52562896/campaign_save_auto2_32.save https://dl.dropbox.com/u/52562896/campaign_save_auto2_39.save
  21. It was in the video presentation of CCGM He says that at 10>28 or so. And its about the amound of Islands given to the AI.
  22. You just have to balance things. Make sure you have more mineral islands than production ones, and check your islands and have those with good minerals churning them out. In the Beta we found 500 minerals to 1 production was a good ratio to aim around. Also if you are doing nothing else build fuel, as its always needed and you build up minerals that way as fuel uses little minerals for the time invested. Learning to manage your production to replace losses is part of the game. :) On Outpost I actually started building Walrus hulls and machine guns during the mission for later because I knew I would need them. Walruses and mantas actually build pretty fast and Machine guns are crap but cheap. Also check your equipment. After finishing the Outpost island I found a Walrus laser, 2 quad guns and some walrus armour sitting in the carrier storage, alone with a few other nice bits and pieces. Use the laser as your anti sniper, A quadgun walrus should help deal with mantas and rely on machine guns for your other weapons for now. The other walruses are expendable but keep your laser Walrus alive at all costs. And check out my Workarounds for the Walrus AI thread. Using those tips really helped me as Walruses are much safer when they are all together.
  23. Yeah... I think it happened to me one time in the Beta but I thought that maybe they were neutral units or something. If the enemy carrier is leaving units behind it all the time then that would account for a lot. Never happened in Beta 2. Odd.
  24. I do think it would be a great little touch if the barque surfaced beside you when it reaches you. Its little touches like that that make a game sparkle.

    Bug on Bacchus

It didn't happen to me. You might want to try replaying the previous island and then go to Bachus "fresh" as it were.
