  2. smoke has a huge fps hit. dunno why. is the air -> smoke calced by CPU? whgy not let it be calced by PhysX?

    bullet drop needs tweaking?

    we can just calcuulate it for ourself =>travel speed of a pistol? around v=500m/s; gravity: g= 9.81 m/s^2 Here I recorded it in the editor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LucQ-1wAmK0 tell me how much did the bullet drop on those 100m - we need a better measure tool for it - but i guess its around 0.2m -> 0.6m? so when we shoot: s = 100 m with a velocity of lets just say something like v =500 m/s which is maybe a typical pistol muzzle velocity. the bullet should sink how far: 1. how long did it fly? t = s / v = 0.2 Seconds - the bullet flys 0.2 seconds to the 100m target 2. how deep did it fall in 0.2 seconds: h = 1/2 * g * t^2 = 0.19 cm <- thats the bullet drop so the bullet should have fallen 20 centimeter? in the video the bullet even sinks more than that, so the pistol velocity is even lower. lets calc it for fun: lets say the bullet fell 60 cm in the video (its hard to measure - need a texture object) 1. t = SQRT{h*2/g} = 0.35 Seconds so the bullet in ArmA flys something slower - more around 0.35 Seconds (maybe even slower) it has so a speed of: 2. v = s / t = 100 / 0.35 = 285 m/s I guess within those caclulated borders of: 290 m/s <-> 500 m/s and a bullet drop around 0.6 m <-> 0.2 m is very reasonable. when you want to have it calculated within other systems - heres a neat sheet: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/%E2%80%8Chbase/grav.html it all neglects wind / air etc but that doesnt affect the bullet sooo much - its more about is it done nearly right? Yes i absolutely think so. I guess in most shooter games, its done plainly wrong. (the concept of G Force is not clear to everyone)

  12. i know bf3 maps are tiny, I didnt play it for a year. but the effects arent so hard to make i guess. lets take the dust. maybe thats just a small particle effect that only the client sees. must not be synced. can just ahppen more often when on sand and less when on grass. just a little shader effect how thats called. the trees is another thing. lets just move the leafes left / right / not the tree or it must get synced. and the grass can move a little too. cloud shadows i dont really need, but on some circumstances (many clouds) why not? its just a little eye candy :) bf3 doesnt sync everything. some stuff could just be rendered client side. if theres no dust doesnt matter is there is a small dust doesnt matter. just eye candy.
  13. but the game is already so good. taking up all my time ;) the alpha in its current state is already so much for me, so many options, so many stuff to do. imagine when everything is available. omg :)
  14. he means 3d marks. thats probably the easiest difficulty. but its not common in arma. the actual fun is in being aware etc
  15. CTRL + Mouse BTN right also works (second Optic one some optics) so it should work like that already edit sry only preselected. doesnt work when input. maybe manual in the file settings?

    i guess people dont see the massive difference. I dont want to be sided, just give some ideas: arma has higher priority in syncing those many objects etc while battlefield 3 doesnt sync so much. did you drive with two jeeps in BF3 -> you see strange rubberband lags. Chests and stuff wont be synced between clients too!

    i thought as much. so stuff obejcts being in the world cause fps drop too. and this i think could be optimized in todays computers! a wild guess. i like armas hyperrealistic approach, but what if it could delete generic items like helms and vests after 30 minutes or so to delete some of the junk and maybe "magically put stuff thats laying around 50 m of each other on one stack etc.. stuff like that - maybe would work? i dont know the code.. but most of the Objects generated by dead bodies are clothing and some stuff no ones uses...

    Movement Bug

    When going crouch and manually going into the lowest movable stance with CTRL+S. Then SHift sprint, then while shift sprinting press X (to go higher a bit), the guy falls down to the ground cant shoot animation starts.. is this a bug? try it out before saying: rebind keys i have no prone on X

    and the fps is going up and down. the point in time when u press Screen shot save might not be the same in both pics - might be more or less AI involved, different AI activities - not comparable. dont u have an AVG FPS Multimeter?

    i noticed that with aiming deadzone too. maybe a3 is now meant to be played with zero (to be more shooter like)

    you didnt read what i wrote. so i make it short: solo editor 50 fps a lot AI editor 15 fps -> after 20 mins (all AI dead) 35 fps... ::not as much as solo editor.
