Arma 3: Multiplayer - is everyone running around in unrealistic super gear aswell ?
naizarak replied to oxmox's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
all good points, but if arma 3 doesn't change, there will always be ACE to play instead. -
Is this a joke?

Separate options for DOF, Blur and Glare, Ambient Occlusion ?

Just talking from experience here - I tried AO in bf3 and arma 2 and didn't like it. Performance took a big hit, too. -

AO doesn't enhance visuals in any way. Just makes shadows darker while taking an inexplicable performance hit. OA already has it, and to be frank, the game looks better without it. -
dayz is nice for sales but that should be handled by modders. i want devs. to focus on arma 3 as arma 3.

People don't want steam because it's nothing more than tacked-on middle ware that doesn't enhance the game in any way. I don't need third-party apps running 24/7 on my computer, I don't want ads shoved in my face, I don't want to navigate a maze to install some mods, and I don't want to handle licenses. Most of all I don't want my "purchase" to exist as a snip of code on some hard drive half way around the world. I always buy physical copies. People aren't ignorant, and we're certainly not living in the stone age just because we avoid the "convenience" of third party shovel ware.

no steam. i want my games standalone without any 3rd party middle-ware

A.C.R.E - Advanced Combat Radio Environment - 1.4 Stable - Release Thread

Thanks for the help. I used the latest jayarma2lib fileset and everything is working fine now. -

For starters, you should probably update the readme files because people actually read those and use them for reference. Secondly, not everyone uses sixupdater and shouldn't have to. If you're going to release your program as standalone then do it right. I've already deleted past instance of jayarma2lib and used the one from your archive but it didn't work. I know how to install mods and there's just something missing here. Again, please update your release files with proper readme's and instructions. Don't just tell me to download sixupdater. -

every single DL i've tried has missing installer and dsound.dll files. installation is impossible without them. can we get an updated release? -
very biased poll. anyways there shouldn't be any combat females in arma 3.

The one, single thing you're most looking forward to?
naizarak replied to dmarkwick's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
*hopefully* improved multiplayer, mod-integration. from a gameplay standpoint - physx and improved lighting. just w/e makes the game more and more realistic. -
this has probably been suggested already, but i'd like to see urban warfare improved upon. i'd like to see AI moving through buildings, doing sweeps, assuming defensive positions, etc. arma is great but it really needs more urban warfare in general

Zeus AI Combat Skills
naizarak replied to Protegimus's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
awesome work, but i'm curious if there's a way to user-tweak several things: 1. reduce acquisition range 2. reduce accuracy the main problem i have with the vanilla game is that the AI, especially in vehicles, is too frugal with ammunition. they shoot in extremely short bursts that are often inaccurate and have little effect on targets. this mod fixes this so well, that it's actually been over-done(In my opinion). AI in vehicles is way too accurate and wastes hardly any time in pin-pointing enemy troops at long distances. then they go all gung-ho just spamming rounds relentlessly. just last game, my lav25 gunner got a read on a low-flying su34 and proceeded to waste nearly all the ammo until the su34 flew 1000's of meters away. the gunner wouldn't respond to my "hold fire" commands either. also with this mod, AI seem to self-prioritize targets regardless of my commands. so anyways, great mod but i'm just curious if there's a way to tweak it -
yes arma 2 is in sore need of proper mod management. six updater is a mess and its functions should be handled by the game itself, in my opinion. hopefully arma 3 will include the mentioned auto-mod downloading, and auto-mod filtering depending on server mod requirements. no need to re-launch a game just to join 1 server.

hopefully developers will integrate these features into the vanilla game, but as you've seen yourself, you can always use mods instead

Optimization and worse graphics: The key to a fivefold increase in sales of ARMA 3
naizarak replied to Recta DP's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
OP you couldn't be more wrong. People avoid ARMA because they can't handle the slow-paced realistic gameplay. Everyone's just too used to arcade shooters. It really has nothing to do with computer requirements - look at how many people puchased/upgraded their computers just to play BF3. Besides most decent computers will run the game just fine. -
Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!
naizarak replied to royaltyinexile's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
hopefully everyone interested will be able to secure a spot. -
Hello everyone, I've been playing Arma II free a lot recently, but the multiplayer aspect is non-existent. There's hardly any active servers and the ones with any players are sandboxes. So before I actually buy anything, I'd just like to know if either of these games has an active population - hopefully playing missions and not sandbox games. Also at this point, would I be better off buying Arma II or OA? Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm probably not adding anything to the discussion at this point, but I think that a quad core CPU and at least 4gb of ram are a requirement. That said, not all quad-cores are the same. AMD's old phenoms are fading fast, and bulldozer variants are even slower. Personally I'm going to be running a 2600k with 8gb of ram. Hopefully Arma 3 will support hyperthreading. Graphics on the other hand scale very well, so maybe a decent mid-high end card would be fine for high detail and a short draw distance.

Server Performance with High Player Count (80players)
naizarak replied to VoRtReX-uk's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
I can't answer your questions, but I'll just add that I've experienced this "desync" in 1 of my recent games, too. My ping to server was 100ms, average player ping was 120ish, but the game was very glitchy. On my screen, my humvee would get stuck in a tree while my driver said that we were moving the whole time. Outside of vehicles, other players teleport around and don't animate properly. Server only had 10 players, too. Arma 2 free 1.10 -
Oh wow thanks for that link. I was looking to buy from Steam for $20 each, but got both for only $13 thanks to you. At this price I don't even care about MP, I can just do SP and editor missions to my heart's content. Thanks again.
