I normaly keep mine together rather then splitting the inner and outer part, its easier on you for texturing it later on as well.

Is there a way to Keybind Ace Interaction-> Knockdown Person
It's a great feature and very helpful but a fast deployment of the technique would really make it usefull during CQB, for now it's only an option if you would have to reload.
-
Thanks for the mirror, Foxhound.Regarding the re-texturing - if anyone does a pink version I may have to speak with my lawyers....
i was thinkin bout PONYS! loads of Ponys! - on a seriouse note, i will of course send you a preview version of the new textures applied for approval, i know how important it is for people to agree upon further creations to make sure the end-result is up to the expectations of the original creator.
(there will be a Pony version reguardless MUHAHAHAHAHAHA)

Totaly our new Patrol vehicle of choice after the testing periode. Oh and a millionen kisses for the hiddenselection for textures.

Just to share some ressources with you Alex. I talked with a friend of mine from the states that could provide me with some modelingshots from the latest GR entry, future soldier. PM me if you are interisted in them.
Aside from that, very good idea to go next century already.

I just noticed this on the ACR:
Above the magazinrelease and below the boltsystem - the line seems "bumpy" and should rather be straight. not sure if its a lighting bug or anything like that

<3 simply love it.
Told ya you can become rly got at texturing if you simply try to apply something from an image with the regular tools. You will become a even better addon maker. Dang you can already do twice the ammount i can,
-
One of the best rifles in the world, for a good reason.
And a well worthy revival of the good old 7.62 powerhouse, nice job there WueR.
-
Well it depends, i dont use the clouds for metal, more for the "plastic" and use the burn/dodge tool to lower the ammount of contrast between the colors. Since he is doing newer type weapons, the only thing metal is the barrel and internal parts.
Cause we sure love our lightweight plastic toyrifles, until they break ^^
But as always, the way to get to a texture that is exactly what your looking for has many different ways to use and go by, the final result might differ but none the less look well made.
-
Well usin Photoshop to porperly texture something, and make it look well you only need the following tools from either GIMP, Photoshop, Ulead Photoimpact and so on:
- Renderclouds
- Brush
- Smudgetool
- Eraser
its just about how you use it in a proper fashion to get your final result. Looking at a lot of reference pictures does help, also putting them into the texture helps to recreate the look with your tools.
-
I know it sounds kinda harsh but dont you think that the green you are using on the units is a bit to "comicy".
From my personal point of view it kind of defeats the purpose of a camo if you look like a bright green grassfrog in the first place, but thats just my neutral feeling.
-
i now declare this my duty for the next few months to get you totaly into textures. To love them, hate them and then cuddle with them again after finding the proper tools in Photoshop ^^

Server-changes
We are happy to inform anyone that we are now offering a mod-server that is running your favourite game modes like Domination, Insurgency and newly Patrol Ops on custom Maps like the wonderful Island of Lingor and others to come.
In order to enjoy playing with our used mods we also enlarged our aviability on Six-Updater, adding a "Light" version which only features the main components needed to connect to our public servers.
ST-Alpha Units V2 Beta started
Our personal created units are currently going trough closed beta within our members ranks to ensure a proper quality of the final release. Many thanks go to advar giving us permission to work on his amazing TF86 units. What will make these units different from all the others released recently? - Camo and an almost sick ammount of attention to detail. We made sure that no operator within the addon look alike and every model has something unique that will differenciate them on the Battlefield.
The creator of the Re-Skin said "oh god I hate it when you place 20 Generic looking SF-Units next to each other and you can not tell a difference between them, to highlight that, even the clothwrinkles are the same. But not on my watch!"
The Units will feature a total of 4 different Camos that have never been seen on any current ArmA unit released to public.
Currently we are waiting for permission by advar to release these unit to the public so the whole community can enjoy them.
Workshop
Currently we are planing to create a timeframe for an Editor / Texturing Workshop that will teach interested people the basics and later advanced techniques to create missions, edit gamemodes and create textures. The priority of this is set to minor as other, more important internal things have to be brought in order first, but don't worry, it's on our pinboard.

No ATACS is not considered by the US-Forces anymore, if it ever has been. But some Operators actually wear ATACS in oversee missions. At least the once allowed to wear what ever they want (just a few proud men).
Apart from that, mostly Airsoft and Paintball players enjoy the journey into Digital Camo land with ATACS.
-
Woodland Version is called ATACS FGS.
We have our own private ATACS Camo Units and i can sure es hell tell you that, for some reason, the effect of the camo does actually WORK ingame. At a range of 100 to 200m you will notice that the soldier seems to "blur" with the background. At 300+m he is almost invisible if no graphics are changed in your settings and you use AA as well as high texture quality.
*edit*
You seem to have some nasty texturecliping on some parts of the units, especially the helmet and on the Platecarrier on the lower sides as well as the rareside of the pants.
-
Scarecrow is right, maybee i can either give you a tutorial on Maya or unwrap it myself if you donno if im able to work with yours.
Of course Maya aint the cheapest of programms to get - especialy if the only use is to modify a game to make it better for everyone without charging anything.
-
Alwarren if you hand me a unwraped version of the texture i will see what i can do to help ya boi ^^
I know some things arround texturing ya know
-
I like your plans, Doofy.
To top it off completly into oblivion of awesome, open close box animation to enter the gear menu.
-
Nice work Al,
found a minor mistake: the flashhiders front isnt textured as well as the front piece of the gasblock. Plus it seems like the ambidextrous charging handle is missin ^^
-
Could use some normal an specular maps.
Its looking really good especially if you consider the boxes as something like an Ammodrop.
Scalewise your right on the mark. Add some Dust and scratches to the box and your good to go.
I would love to see some boxes for AT-Weapons or something impressive like the Light 50.
-
Alwarren, bout the ATACS Camo.
As soon as you need a good big pattern just ask, i contacted the company for my units and they helpfully did send me a big texture picture, rather then the once you find on the interwebz these days.
Aside from that - can i have your babys? they will be super talented addonmakers ^^

News-Update: Pick the Pattern
As some of you might know,
ST-Alpha is currently working on individualized combat units for our campaign-missions and other internal operations. We are now at the stage where it’s all about the camo. In order to satisfy our needs we will add the A-TACS Desert Camo as well as the new A-TACS FGS for woodland environment.
But now we need, or actually want, your help. Use the comment section to tell us which camo we should field with our new units. The picks will be announced with the release date of the units and the two contributors with the most fitting camosheme in mind will be added to the credits and will recive insight upon the status and creation of there camo part.
The units will be available in a total of 5 camotypes.
So would like to have the community participate and give us their ideas and thoughts on two proper camo types which are not completly overused at this point. Even your self made camo could be choosen.
You can find the news and comment section here

Hello,
ST-Alpha is a tactical orientated* ArmA2 Squad that has been founded in January 2012. It currently consists of a small dedicated group of people from multiple nations (Brazil, Canada, Germany, Norway, Poland and the United States so far). However, we are always looking for more players to play with. If you want to become a regular player with no responsibilities, that is no problem. We don’t distinguish between ST-Alpha and community members when conducting an event. As long as you know how to fill out your role and have a certain maturity level, we couldn’t care less.
We believe that a good ArmA2 community/squad/unit or clan is required to have the following aspect: good quality gaming sessions. This is what we are trying to obtain at ST-Alpha in- and outside of the game. If you are interested in how we acquire this, visit our homepage and read up on the philosophy. Come by and game with us, so you can get your own impression on what ST-Alpha is about. Become a regular player or even a fellow member of ST-Alpha. We are looking forward to game with you!
We are also willing to join events from other communities and we are not shy to download other addon packs. If you are searching for a good partner to play with, please contact us via E-Mail.
To make it easier for you, we have summed up some basic information below.

in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Posted · Edited by fluttershy
They are not for SOCOM purpose. As of now and the odd requirements Arma 2 does for the models ( at least from my point of view ) i will properly have to use either Blender to get help from someone else or use 3d max to use the toolset....
Sad days
@GD: I know for sure that the 2nd Kompany of the 92 PanzergrenadierLehrBattallion is currently fielding a total of 15 G28s for Field-Testing and presentationpurpose. Though to note, the G28 is used as DMR rather then Sniper-System, because the G22 still is superior in accuracy and firepower.
About the Models and Status: I think i finally got the requirements and little tricks written down to actually get the Lowpoly done correctly. I already got a great helper in Alwarren that will show me how to convert my base model into the proper shape for ingame usage. First off will be the G28, after that the G36K and C.
