  1. Hi antoine,

i can assure you that the current Blufor Soldiers do not have hiddenSelections for the clothing textures. Maybee have a talk with sudden over at armaholic. He recently released a reskined version of the Blufor Soldiers. Although the clothing isnt interchangable which is, if i am not wrong, something you want right?

Also nice to note: The Danish Military advisors released by DDAM and Villas used the Divers, because they do have hidden selections.

Edit: Just noticed - Ohally is retexturing as well, i will send him a PM and ask if he would tell me his method. I will keep you posted about this.

  2. @JS - ERMAGERD thank you sooooooo much for the hiddentexture support - releaseing a PSD template makes this even better and easier for thoose who look to change it but don't know where to start, great support!

@ Franze: But shouldn't a dropped Fueltank from X Height and Y Speed at least create some sort of dust-splash on ground? I am not talking about a huge fireball, this ain't Napalm.

    @Hotel-2-5 yes, yes it is.

@Stickman: As stated by JS above you will be able to simply alter the skin of the Aircraft via this setObjectTexture in the init line or other commands to use the Hiddentexture selection. The Only thing you will then need is your personalized custom skin, which should be easiely creatable given the fact that a PSD Template release is also planned.

  3. Sounds are great, but there is one little thing I noticed:

For some reason Barrett M107 sounds different than I expected (compared to the videos below). When you shoot it sounds like you hear just sound of powder exploding. And you dont hear the sound of mechanisms of the gun.

When you shoot it sounds like you hear just sound of powder exploding. And you dont hear the sound of mechanisms of the gun.

But maybe I`m mistaken because I never heard Barrett M82\M107 shooting in real life.

Shoting the G82 (equivilant to the M107) you really don't hear a lot of mechanical components working because the intensity of the projectile accelerating and leaving the muzzle is almost numbing your sense for sound. The peak of sound is the muzzleblast. What you would be able to hear is the slight sound of the bolt closing the chamber again but apart from that it doesnt go very far from there.

  4. This is really great, could you add the ability to drop the Fuel Tank? Just a thought?

    Love it!

That would be a very nice addition but also holds loads of problems.

    1. Explosion FX for fueltank not present

    2. Droping the tanks would alter the flight LOD, if it is done realisticly

    3. would reduce the total ammount of fuel (scripted) could create the problem that if you drop the fuel tanks once they are empty you might potentially get fuel back

So as you can see it would be quiet a lot of work to do for just such a small addition.

  5. Alwarren is right.

Remington states the famouse "all rights reserved" meaning:

"All rights reserved" is a phrase that originated in copyright law as part of copyright notices. It indicates that the copyright holder reserves, or holds for their own use, all the rights provided by copyright law, such as distribution, performance, and creation of derivative works - source: wiki

So no Remington marks for us gentleman.

  6. I am currently working with the new nDo 2 - its a helping too for Photoshop to create awesomely looking bumpmaps.

If you could hand me a UV unwarp to work on i can take a look at it.

nDo 2 iss from quixel and also offers a trail periode afaik.

About the Bipods: I know AAW and UKF also used a script to animate the lowering and raising of the Bipod by button-press (H). That would add some additional cool to the awesome ^^

  7. Okay so here is my review:

Currently your sadly missing a functional ACE-Config (maybee someone can help out with that)

The Bipod looks a bit short, especially on the XM2010 where the Magazine reaches down more then the Bipod. Bumpmaps need a bit more love, looks like they are baked from a slightly higher res Model but for me it just appears "not so clean"

  8. 1. Get permission by the creator of the particular Addon you want to reskin

    2. Extract the pbo to recive the needed texturefiles as paa, convert them to TGA using TexView 2

    3. normal colored data = _co.paa / bumpmap or normal map = _nohq.paa

    4. Overwrite the existing files with your remade textures or create an addon with a replacement config.

    ----------------

Or use the Forums search function....

  9. Naming it depends highly on the caliber your looking for. The M24E1 will use .300 Winchester while the original concept of the XM2010 was layed out to be .308 Lapua for cartridge interchangability with other Nato forces that mostly use the Arctic Warfare L115s and soon to be released AX308 frame.

Plus the fact that the .308 is overall a better caliber for long range engagements, but again the US Army derped.

  10. From an Artists view:

Congratulations Dean, you and your team came up with an idea interisting litterly millions of people and drawing them back to an old game. This shows that after all it is not all about shiny graphics and high-end cover systems.

It kind of reminds one to Half-Life and all the great modifications it did spawn over the years, that are STILL beeing played today. It shouldnt be about making truckloads of money, but to create somthing that last longer then initially intended.

    From the Industrial view:

GJ BIS for realizing that the ammount of DayZ players (which will be growing even more with a full-release) are a better source of income then the few mil-sim maniacs that are considering to buy Arma 3.

    From the famouse OFP-arma2 view:

It already is the nature of this particular community to fix, enhance and add to everything you have been missing over the past years. Even if you remove more features from Arma 3 - most of them will be implemented by modders again, this will take time and lower your sales a lot when it comes to feature hungry new players, but you will keep the old. Just please dont release an unfinished buginfested pile of steaming goat.... you know where im going.

  11. I am encountering the same issue as purpheart but sadly the fix does not work for me.

I have an oddly configured A2 so bare with me.

    Arma 2 - Regular Version

    Arma 2:OA - Steam Version

    BAF/PMC - Steam Version

so every time i try to run the installer i get the missing string error. Do i need to wait for the Patch to be implemented with Steam or is there a quicker solution to this?

Okay it have seemed to work and im not sure if this works for anyone else - i had steam launched and added arma 2 as non-steam title and the updater worked after i did so.

  12. I am loving your DMR, we really desperately need a decent 7.62 marksman rifle that allows both a night vision optic and a suppressor, the fact that you are making one is giving me hope that I will finally be effective as a marksman in stealthy night operations.

Please don't stop now, your work is thus far amazing :)

You can also look at the FHQ WiP Thread. Alwarren is doing several Remington Rifles. Including the MSR and XM2010 - both will have Nightcapability as well, and supressors.
