Scott can correct me if I'm wrong but correlators are primarily found on piston based helos like the Robinson R22 and the Schweitzer 300 series. Governors are on turbine driven helos but may also be found on piston aircraft. I believe that correlators are an older technology. -

Jedra, This is normal behavior. Helicopters are naturally unstable beasts and you are always on the controls. The Rotorcraft Flying Handbook is a great place to get a basic understanding of helicopter flight dynamics. Regards, Chris -

I downloaded the mission. I created an AddOns folder in my Documents\Take On Helicopters folder. I fired up the game and went to Singleplayer Challenges and it is not showing. What did I miss? -

Patch 1 has nothing to do with the flight modeling. I think that is scheduled for patch 2 depending on the difficulty involved. -

Scott, Maruk is right. No sense in rehashing things over and over. John, BIS did the marketing, set the expectation and even published who the back end supplier of the flight dynamics are. They went to flight sim shows and joined flight sim sites to promote their product. So it is a bit disingenuous after the fact to say you shouldn't expect it be realistic. To their credit they have committed to a patch path and set the expectation that patches to the flight modeling have to be coordinated with RTD and might be difficult to resolve. Given their track record in supporting their products I say we consider the feedback "noted" and give them time to work on it. That all said, this title does not suck. It does more to showcase what helicopter are really capable of and how they are used more so than X-Plane or MS Flight Sim has in the last five years.

I think we can wordsmith a bit. They didn't call it a simulation, they called it a game. I didn't see realistic anywhere. The term they used in their marketing is authentic. To me in this context authentic means true. It this a true representation of helicopter flight? I think the general answer is no but it is certainly more than their ARMA titles. Before you can make a flight model a realistic simulation you have have to make sure you have it modeled authentically. There are clearly a few items upside down and backwards here. You get those fixed in the second patch then I think you can get into fine tuning realism and advanced items like vortex ring state. And guys, if you are going to get into things like VRS then you are making more than just a game. -

So my question is this, did BIS dumb down the the RTD flight dynamics library or does the flight model from them suck to begin with?
