Any interest in some objects to sling load?
zentaos replied to b101_uk's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
very nice indeed... did you solve your rotating sling hook issue from the trees video? would be really cool to do some precision pipe installations over canals. -
?!? I do not understand negative comments. They serve no constructive purpose.

patch 1.03 and hsim folder
zentaos replied to capt_morpheme's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
or put the hsim folder into a mod folder :) -
Repaint for Light helicopter...
zentaos replied to Sylle's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
i would prefer the default structure that way they wouldn't be as confusing when we have more addon helicopters -
either way, the rolling and yawing tendency would decrease with speed as the horizontal and vertical stabilizers on the tail take aerodynamic effect.

flight model editing
zentaos replied to heli_flying's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS : ADDONS - Configs & Scripting
don't worry, think of all the time you've invested as "conceptual understanding" When pilots IRL transition to a new bird it takes time to become familiar with the new control setup. I bet you will see that this will be the case for you as well. when you transition from an R-22 to a Bell 206 I'm sure the controls feel very different, but you wouldn't give up learning them because of all the advantages the new systems offer.:D -
flight model editing

That's like saying " I want my iPad to behave like my Commodore64, 'cause that's what I learned at the beginning of computing, that's the way it should stay!" Joking aside, whatever it takes to get closer to realism gets two thumbs up! -
Blake's Sling Loading
zentaos replied to blakeace's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
nice! now we just need some Christmas trees and trucks to put them in! -
Ok...so...this will be a learning experience:) And now with the help of my beautiful assistant..I will attempt to learn modeling and BIS addons at the same time... anyways here's a shot of the rough frame...it's only the beginning, this is very addictive.

Still in progress...haven't had a lot of time this week. Don't expect this to be released very soon. Once the first model is finished, I still need to figure out how to animate the rotors and controls, figure out attach points, multiple LOD's, ...probably a whole bunch more stuff I don't know how to do yet... Even though this is my first modeling experience I refuse to let this project be low quality.

Sound fading when incoming radio trasmission
zentaos replied to MrSumner's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
Bump I'm experiencing all sounds fading when someone other than main character is speaking while flying. Very distracting because I have to read the subtitles while maneuvering. This is occurring after 1.02 patch. -
What is an average poly count for a helicopter model? Should I be modeling the bolts, or just using textures for them?

regarding PBO files... can I just make a backup of any PBO in the addon folder, store it elsewhere, and overwrite the original file with a modified one? -
Flight dynamics (important issues)
zentaos replied to nightsta1ker's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
YES!!!! Completely agree! Having a more accurate/realistic flight model will not change how the difficulty levels and helpers function. It will just make the FM behave more like the real thing on expert. I'm new to the BIS community, but after a few short months of watching the goings on, I'm very impressed! -
Good Pc ==> Bad Performance
zentaos replied to HeliLoop's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - TROUBLESHOOTING
have you tried running a defrag? I have an average system and I'm able to run at mid-high settings on 1280x960 resolution because I use UltimateDefrag and have BIS folder set to performance. Load times for scenery etc. can really effect frame rate with TOH. -

This community amazes me...when you guys get done fiddling with the current FM's, maybe I could enlist some help to get a configuration for some addon models. -
I decided to go with wood because it's inexpensive, readily available, and almost everyone has the tools at hand to build with it. Without electronics, you could build this setup for around $40.00 almost half of the cost will be the nylon bearings which are how you keep the "soft" wood from creating slop in the controls. you could from here, gut a simple 4 axis joystick to use the electronics or go with a Leo Bodnar USB controller and add a twist throttle and all the buttons you can handle. plans/instructions for this build to be available on a 8.5X11 PDF in a few days if anyone is interested. here is the link to the PDF: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JQEXFNAF

Is there a plugin for Blender? nevermind...I found them http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1719007&postcount=1

Where to begin? I've Downloaded BITools and installed Oxygen2. I am a 3D CAD Designer by profession and I'm sure I will figure out Oxygen fairly quickly. However, I don't have a clue when it comes to scripting. Anyone in the community want to collaborate on adding some more Helicopters?

"budget" guys...:) i have also been working on this setup:http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=2024982&postcount=46, but it will be quite costly to make, $500-$600 the wood setup in this post, I estimate based on my materials calculations, can be built for under $100. which would be a really good deal for full simulator controls. i will not be producing and selling this setup, but I will upload the PDF instructions so anyone can use them (and modify the design as necessary). ---------- Post added at 08:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:32 AM ---------- I'm pretty sure the ProFlight Trainer is around $1000.00 U.S.

I wanted this setup to be more compact to take up less space. the handle length can be increased by changing a few measurements. I was aiming more for "feel" than real world dimensions.

yes, configurations for the helicopters, or scripting animations for them in the config files etc. I just know how to make things in 3D.
