  1. How is your progress? It's been pretty quiet lately. I've been enjoying your missions with Fred's FM but would love to know what you've been working on.
  2. How goes the scripting for the "save progress" feature? You see...beggars CAN be choosers...or so they think. Keep up the good work!
  3. I have been following TOH since before launch and happily preordered. I can honestly say that Fred's recent involvement has been the most exciting news in TOH since the first thought of a virtual preflight and interaction with the sim world the ARMA engine provides. It was a little bit sad when Nightstalker and a few of the other Hovercontrol members gave up on the sim because of lack of realism. Fred's involvement hints at the promise of a realistic FM in TOH. Very, VERY, exciting. I have also been guilty of a lack of faith. I started a 3-d model of a mosquito air that I do hope to finish someday when time allows. Quiet as it has started, the buzz here now on this forum that Moach and Fred have brought their talents to TOH is steadily growing.

    Flight dynamics (important issues)

Hopefully the devs will be receptive to Fred and all he has, and can, accomplish http://www.hovercontrol.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=1;t=22114;st=0;r=1;entry169298

Agreed, like the cyclic is more sluggish than a Hiller, if that's possible... Hopefully Fred can help us http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?145171-Advanced-Flight-Model-based-on-HTR
  6. Great Fred!!! I can't wait to test this!!! I will update with feedback when I have a chance to fly the new model. EDIT: Wow! For the first time since I installed TOH, I actually have command of my helicopter. The cyclic is light and responsive. I am able to control slow speed maneuvers with authority. It seems as though I don't need to pull as much pitch as I thought I would need to achieve lift off, but it may be due to load out. The feedback feels correct, I slowly add left pedal as I bring the collective up, you can sense getting light on the skids, add a touch of forward left cyclic, and....amazing! Lift off into a stable, controllable IGE hover. Translational lift, as you mentioned is absent, I was not able to gain lift by increasing forward speed past ETL without an increase in collective pitch. However, tail rotor effectiveness/efficiency seems more correct. I was able to relax left pedal input past 40 knts IAS and have neutral pedals at cruise. Heavy flaring for quick stops required large amounts of right pedal as you would expect. Keep it up Fred!!! This is by far the best flight experience yet with TOH!!!
  7. Holy crap!!!!!! FRED!!!!! Yes, please find a way to incorporate HTR into TOH! Then the merging of the FSX/Hovercontrol world to the TOH world can begin!
  8. The oil rig definitely beckons for personell and equipment transport. Emergency evacuations, disasters and clean ups. Some GOM inspired events. So far it sounds really exciting! ( just caught that it said old instead of oil )
  9. Very nice Hon0 What flight model are you using?

YES!!!!! Sven, there are a few of us that have more than a casual interest in TOH. I have been around since the beginning, ( of TOH ) and have seen a few impatient users give up. The community had been working on improving the flight model but also gave up. ...but, I have seen an almost unflyable FM improve vastly over the last few months. It's on it's way. I really want to help too, but I have very limited time as I work full time, run a small CAD contracting business, and have 3 young children. Thromp was very helpful to me when I wanted to begin modeling a new helicopter to add mosquito but I haven't worked on it much because I haven't found the time to overcome the learning curve yet. Your interest has not gone unnoticed. I for one, am very grateful for what you have already brought to the table!
  11. Perfect! It hadn't even occurred to me yet to consider the registry entries! Thank you!
  12. See this post http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?141033-TKOH-Rearmed-amp-Arma-2-Free-Edition
  13. When I updated TOH to 1.06 rearmed, my copy of Operation Arrowhead shows up in TOH as its supposed to. I want to be able to fly on Chernarus so I installed Arma2 Free after 1.06 was already working. How do I get A2F into TOH?
  14. Yes, Nightsta1ker had done some initial tweaks with a few other members of the boards here, but I think they all lost interest. The FM has definitely improved from 1.01. It has a ways to go, but it's definitely improving.
  15. I really think the devs need to get the attention of hovercontrol members. A few more tweaks on the flight model, and the community will embrace what TOH has to offer.
  16. Ok I will probably spend the cash to DL ArmA2 and actually have combined ops. When I do...how do I re-run rearmed?
  17. It's actually a closer resemblance to a bell 412. Which is the great grandson of the Huey or UH-1. The Huey was a single engine variant or the bell 205 Iroquois, with a 2 bladed teetering rotor system. The next generation added airframe improvements and the addition of a second turbine as the bell 212. Further advancements in the airframe and 4 bladed rigid rotor system led to the bell 412. TOH doesn't have bell licensing so there are small details that are not exact representations of the actual aircraft, hence "medium" helicopter. ** but yes, as far as the helicopters included with vanilla TOH, the military medium helicopter does resemble a Huey **
  18. Yes thanks, I was just hoping there would be a way to re-run the 1.06 patch or have rearmed query again so it could be part of the default exe
  19. Using the HUD is a good replacement for the inner ear sensations that will never be in a home based sim.
  20. I have been watching the forums for the last few months and not really posting except for some updates on the controls setups, and I must say, I have been very saddened by the lack of discussion concerning the flight model. It seems as though BIS has given up on VRS and other realistic effects. I hope this is not the case. ....but I sure am glad everyone is getting there ARMA content working. :(

they are watching... I completely agree with this. It's not a joystick sensitivity/curve issue...it's almost like the rotor disc is rigidly mounted and the cabin twitches with every move of the disc. IRL, a helicopter seems to "slide" around with small cyclic inputs before any cabin attitude change occurs.
