  1. Hey man, I can't get it to show up on 'Computer' with an assigned letter drive. You know, like my HDD is C and my DVD is D.

    I can get it so show up in BIOS but I don't know how to format it nor initialize it. BIOS sees it but it doesn't show up as a drive.

    BTW, my HDD is IDE not the achi or what ever it was. I tried that and could not get the pc to boot up on the ACHI or whatever.

    I'm sure I hooked up the SATA red cable and the ribbon properly.

    Any help is appreciated.

    I'm hoping I don't have to take the pc to the local pc shop for help on this.

    cheers

    you have to setup a RAID, open you motherboard handbook, and see how to do this.

  2. hi King Nothing, awesome idea and campaing u made, big ups! I have an annoying problem, using latest mission beta + addons. Every time i finish a mission, and call a transport - nothing happens. I set timespeed to 4x and waited like half a hour, no transport came to evacuate my team. Is this a bug, or im doing something wrong? Luckely at "rescue convoy" mission, i could board into 2 UAZ and drive back to base by maself. But not every mission has cars nearby to use. Pls help.

  3. Great sentiment and very true. I discovered OFP in 2002 and have been playing nothing but OFP and Arma ever since. Now that I have a more "modern" system it's like discovering the game all over again. I have tried to get into other games but they just don't have the same feel and immersion that you find in OFP and Arma. I do wish there were more players for regular coop missions but what can you do. My son came over a few weeks ago and watched me play a bit on my new system and he realized the true potential for the game (my old comp was below minimum specs but I still played, low fps and all). He was so impressed he quit playing his other games and bought all he needed to play Arma. I helped him set up SU and got him started and now it is all he plays. The best part is he plays the game with his "old man" and the more he plays and discovers the more he loves it. He tried flying a falcon for the first time in a mission on our server using a mouse and keyboard and shot down 5 planes on his second run at it. He was definitely hooked then.

    hey, i remember back in OFP times, i used to play coop a lot on your [LOL] Majors server, was great fun, good times :)

    I'm not much for long in arma community (since last summer). Had old rig as well, and arma 2 was stuttering and looking just awful with low details. With my new rig, i can play it with high/very high setting, also i played on old TFT monitor before.

    When i brought me my 25 inch wide screener, and played arma 2 for first time on it, running down the takistan hills, i was stunned how huge the "in game presence" feeling i had. Since then, i'm playing arma 2 most of the time.

    Arma is really a game, which needs a very good system, and best to be played on a big monitor (and J.S.R.S sound mod :P), then it catches you for good, and doesn't let you go. :)

  4. that friend of yours is not a technical person if he said that.

    If you have your OS and game files on the SSD, and use the HDD for all your other storage needs, how can one affect the other? I'll tell you what, it simply doesn't...

    actually he is. I did check you rig in signature, i saw HDD+HDD raid and just 1HDD. So how can you know, what he said it's not true? Anyone here with SSD+HDD combo?

  5. Everyone here has been so helpful I thought I should update in case it helps someone else. Was having same problems as op except I have 2 x 6970 in cfx. If I tried to use Default my FPS suddenly dropped 10 or more and it became quite stuttery. Yesterday I purchased a 60 gb Vetex 3 SSD, moved my arma 2 folder over to it and now it seems I can use Default without issues. Only fps issues i've noticed now are when there is a lot of vegetation to render but the gpus are going flat out so thats understandable. Still doing testing but so far its looking very promising.

    nice report, i was thinking of getting an SSD myself. But a friend told me, HDD+SSD combination isn't a good idea, since HDD will hold SSD back. He recommended HDD+HDD0 RAID or SSD+SDD RAID1.

  6. I really should do some fps tests as I've got plenty of results from before when I was tweaking it. Anyway, I'll post my graphics settings so you can see what I'm using:

    Visibility: 6175

    Quality Preference: Very High

    3D and Interface Resolution: 1920x1080

    Texture Detail: Very High

    Video Memory: Default

    Anisotropic Filtering: Very High

    Antialiasing: Disabled

    Terrain Detail: Very Low

    Object Detail: Normal

    Shadow Detail: High

    HDR Quality: Normal

    Post Process Effects: Very Low

    Interface Size: Normal

    Aspect Ratio: 16:9

    Vsync: Enabled

    and from the cfg:

    AToC=7;

    PPAA=3;

    PPAA_Level=2;

    Windowed=0;

    FXAA=0;

    woot, it works with DEFAULT vram by urs? My ATI 6970, worked incredibly bad with default vram, with very high it was fine.

  7. One of my friends bought ArmA2 just after I did, but never plays it.

    I convinced two others to buy Combined Ops but they also never play it. One uses the excuse "it's not installed" every time I suggest we play. But when it comes to CoD or Dragon Rising, they can't install it fast enough :j:

    aww badluck, my buddies who i conviced to buy arma, usualy ask me as i start steam: hey mate, lets go playing! :D

  8. Maybe the mission tries to place or spawn units in one or more locations that have changed (e.g., now occupied by a building or at an ATL position inside a rock). The RPT may have comments that reveal the problem, or if not try running with the option -showscripterrors before the "mod=" entries (if any).

    Until the mission is updated you could still play it on the previous version of the island - you just need 2 modfolders with slightly different names.

    hey, ty for advice, going to try older version!

  9. well, ofcourse it's nice to have something like PR, ive been playing it about a week with buddies, and sadly we all found it boring at end.

    I can't really tell what exactly is wrong/boring, it's just overall feeling. It is really a team work mission, playing alone or with random people in a squad isn't rly that much exciting, but with people you know, it's quite fun, but like a said, after about a week we got tired.
