  2. Hey comunity, I mentioned this in several threads already, but I just need a solution to this and I need it soon because it keeps preventing me and my friends from playing arma 2. And that annoys me. A while ago, Gamespy shut down. I had some problems hosting servers that time. I managed to solve these. Now a few days ago, something happened. I don't know what it is. But since then, every server I launch, no matter if ingame or dedicated, TADST 2.4 or 2.6, Arma 2 CO or Arma 3, no matter if v1.62 or v1.63, no matter if beta patch or not, no matter with or without addons - will simply not show up in the internet server browser of my friends as it did before. Servers they launch also won't show up to me. It seems like something broke the whole server listing system. For us only, because we can see numerous public servers around. So I already did this to solve the problem: - I went to my speedport config site and added a network rule for my Computer forwarding the ports - I went to my Firewall config and set incoming and outgoing rules for all this ports. - I added an exception in my Firewall for all arma executables. - I added an exception in my Anti Virus System for the whole Arma Folder. - I tried to host with disabled firewall and with disabled Anti Virus. All that had no effect. I'm really out of options. Any idea? I'm getting mad about this. 2 Weeks ago everything worked fine. My PC is directly connected to my Router via LAN. No Switch, No Wireless. ---------- Post added at 09:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:48 PM ---------- EDIT: Suprisingly, nearly every time I post a probelm like this, an hour later I'll find a solution. For everybody having this problem and I know, there are some: This is not really a solution. More of a workaround. Find out your IP. There are webpages that tell it to you. Just google it. Anybody who wants to join that server now has to remote connect to that IP. This my sound obvious. Somehow it was the last thing coming to my mind. Facepalm infront of a mirror right now.

  5. Now my A2CO servers also won't show up in the server browsers of my friends. 2 Weeks ago it worked fine. Did something happen lately, like Gamespy shutting down again? I get "no challenge value recieved from masterserver" after some time, too when I try to host a server the old fashioned way. Srsly guys is any network specialist around here that can tell us what happened? I sure as hell did change nothing on my internet config, my firewall config or my router config but from one day to the next, all the private server reporting stopped working it seems.
  6. Me again. Launching servers for LAN games is no problem at all but they can't be seen by anybody on the internet. I forwarded all ports (2302, 8766) for my Router and Firewall. I also tried it with disabled firewall. But my guys just can't find my server on the internet server browser. All this worked fine with 2.4 and before Gamespy Shutdown.

  9. Toadie, you just became my No.1 supplier for guns in Arma 3. Your work is not just awesome, it is outstanding. It adds a new level of detail to gun handling in the Arma Series, namely custom anims. How awesome is that. Finally. I never thought someone could beat RH Studios when it comes to weapon modelling, but here we are, you just did it. Sorry, RH guys. I'd love to see some more HK in that game. Seriously, we need a high quality 416, 417 and UMP. But just continue on doin this stuff, I'm already looking forward to your next release. The standarts for addon guns have just been raised, since you are in the business, man.
  10. Hey guys, Having trouble setting up dedicated servers (LAN) pretty much since gamespy is down. It still works great for A2CO, but when it comes to A3, every server I start up (I'm only using TADST) will crash when I join on it. At first it crashed with a fail-message "Out of memory" and some numbers. So I adjusted the maxMem parameters for A3 and the server. So I got rid of the error popup but since then ist still crashes ("arma3server.exe stopped working")as soon as I enter the sever-password and wanna join it. The logs say nothing useful. At least not the ones I found (Arma 3/TADST/myprofile). Says something about a minidump file being created in the last line. Appdata logs are useless as well. I'm using TADST 2.6 Arma 3 is up to date, main branch. Mods or without mods doesn't matter, I tested various configs. Any clue why that is? EDIT: Nevermind, guys. I solved it. Had to delete all former version TADST files and create new profiles.
  11. I did one for private use. I designed it for small player numbers COOP and has only been tested a few times. It is still very raw and only Lowlands and SEA are supported due to the location system. But it works. Anyway it was made for 2.5. I'm planning on overhauling it once 2.6 is released. If there's an interest, I would share it on request.
  12. The update quits at 11.7Mb / 12.1Mb for me and is then stuck on "paused". This happens whenever I try to download the patch via steam download manager or by hitting the play button. Every time I want to start the game via steam it asks me to update an the download will then quit without warning at 11.7Mb. I'm using steam for several years and never experienced anything like that. Deleting the clientregistry.blob and the appcache did not solve the problem. Am I the only one having this issue? It sounds to me like parts of the download-data are corrupted. But thats just a guess of course. Any help appreciated.
  13. @Thirith: There should be two entrys in your Steam Library. Go to Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead [not 'Beta (Obsolete)'!], right click ->Properties. Go to BETAS, select "beta-" and continue. It will download the patch. The new name of the Library entry will be "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead [beta]" Launch this one from now on.
  14. Ok, it is now June 12th and Tophe still didn't show up. This is a question to everybody. I hope somebody can help me. I can't run ded servers anymore. I always used TADST. I have no clue how to run them in another way. Here is my Arma 2 problem: I own the non steam retail version of Arma 2, Arma 2 OA, Arma 2 RFT and ACR. After the gamespy shutdown, I transferred it all to Steam. Now I use the steam version. The big difference: OA and Arma 2 are in seperate folders. When I now run TADST and try to start up a server, I use (of course) the arma2oaserver.exe of the latest beta patch (Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead/beta_oa/). I use my old modset, choose a compatible mission and hit launch. Error messages about required addons appear. Fail messages appear. The server starts. I try to join it. It will stuck reading the mission from bank. Appearently theres really something missing. I checked the "missing" addons. And I figured out, since I use the steam versions, a ded server won't load any Arma 2 file. It will just load all the OA + DLCs stuff. Minus for Steam. Is TADTS even capable of running Steam version Arma 2 CO servers? How do I do this? Is there an alternative? Heres my Arma 3 problem: I launch a ded server with TADST. It starts. No error. Good. I check the MP browser. My server is shown TWICE. Always. No matter which one I try to join on, the game will crash saying it is running out of memory. Of course that is not the problem. What is wrong and how do I get TADST working again? All this was never an issue before GS shutdown, everything always worked like a charm.
  15. Huge thanks, Battleship. I wonder why that thought didn't come to my mind. I noticed it works for Vehicle Commanders but never though about why :) Made my day. I just wrote a simple addon script that gives the Itemradio to the player at every mission start and now they're talking. Not talking like in original IF without the radio noise but at least they're talking and the text is shown.

  17. Please adivse on how to run an A2/OA dedicated Server with your tool after the gamespy shutdown. The steam stuff in TADST has a note to it "Arma 3 only". Also there are only gamespy options for report IPs (and the LAN adress). Is TADST still usable for A2?
  18. Thanks for the info, kju. That is very unfortunate. And definitly a reason to return to original IF as it is not only a matter of convenience but has a massive impact on SP gaming, as pointed out. I hope this will be fixed one day. But thanks again for your amazing work. I'll just stick to original IF for SP and go for some coop with the arma 2 conversion.
  19. Hey, I just digged up IF44 again and tried it in A2CO with this outstanding conversion. I was hoping for something like this since IF release. It works very well. Finally I can apply the most important gameplay mods I always wanted to have in IF. But theres one thing I have to ask: the dubbing files have been converted, too but there is no chatter in IF when playing it as mod for CO. Every unit stays quiet. Radio protocol is disabled. This makes it very hard to run a SP mission because very often you won't notice an AI spotting an enemy for example. So: Is this on your todo list? Are you aware of this? Is it something on my end and I should check my game files?
  20. Thanks for the intel, eggbeast. I know how to use em but I'm not a big fan of spawn arrays so I guess I'll wait for 2.6 to create that stuff. And good to know the Radio Support is fixed :D
  21. Another two questions from me, guys: I noticed the Unsung Support Module won't reinitalize after respawning in MP. Will this be fixed in 2.6? I already mentioned I did some MSO templates for Unsung. Furthermore I'm thinking about creating some more coop scenarios. Therefore I have to know: Will a lot of the classnames or factionnames change in 2.6? Because I don't want to replace all the stuff in mission.sqm after the next patch.
  22. Hey comunity, I recently reset my whole system and now I'm facing the following issue: Arma 2 is only utilizing one core correctly. Namely cpu 1 of 0-7. On very heavy scenarios like a 30+ AI battle in Zargabad or comparable situations, the fps is dropping really fast. So i checked resmon and saw: 7 cores have do nearly nothing, 1 single core is utilized 100% all the time with the whole graph field filled. I put in the exe settings in PlaywithSix.I set cpu affinity of the arma2oa.exe process to all cores. Hyper threading is enabled. All cores are unparked and running. Win 7 Powerplan ist set to max. Arma2OA.cfg has been modified to give the best performance (both framesahead things set to "1"). Nvidia control panel settings modified to give best performance. Physx is being run by GPU. Arma 2 OA settings are maxed out, except for AA (normal) and Terrain Detail (Normal). View Distance is ~2000. Vsync is off. I'm running the currenty beta build. My Hardware specs: i7 3770 @3,4Ghz GTX 770 4GB 16GB RAM Arma is running on an SSD that has only arma on it. Unfortunatly I wasn't able to connect that SSD to the 6GB SATA plug as it is covered by my graphics card (who designed that mainboard? -.- ) so I plugged it into a 3GB SATA slot. OS is Win7 HP 64bit I hope someone can help me out with that.
  23. "Welcome to Arma 2" ^^ Dude, I'm playing Arma 2 for years. I know of the limitations of that crappy engine. But before the reset, the game performed better in cpu heavy situations.
  24. @Savage: That is really strange. With 1500 VD on Cao Bang at Lang tra I get between 28 and 40 fps (AA set to High, Terrain detail to low). 3 men placed. Me and two AI. Once I placed like 40 AI and let them fight each other, the performance dropped below 20fps and even with view distances like 500 it was max 22fps. Unplayable. But that isn't just on Unsung maps, it happens on Chernarus when there are many AI active, ist happens on Zargabad when I walk around the downtown even on takistan the fps drops frequently when a large battle is going on. It just happens very often on unsung maps. I can play nearly every game on ultra setting but Arma just hates me and my computer. What is even more strange ist that you get that performance using the GT70. I have exactly the same gaming notebook by MSI lying to my left but I gave up trying Arma on that one long time ago due to horrible fps. I must have done something wrong... Anyway not that it would matter atm. Btw I found a simple solution to my problem: the Dynamic View Distance mod is really helpful.
  25. Looking forward to these maps. But 2.5 maps are alle huge and have open fields. A view distance below 1000 doesn't make sense. But I get your point from an editors view. I've build jungles (not in the arma dimension of course) as a map maker for other games in the past and know that you can't always get performance and the good look. And yes, I'm using rain and storms and fogs often, too. But sometimes I just want to see a sunset on a vast open field :)
