    you're exaggerating. and most games don't even have that (engagements at ranges over 200 m).

  4. it won't sell regardless of how many planes are in it. Arma 3 is in too bad a shape, critics will destroy it for lack of "fast-paced PvP" and single player campaign. the CoD crowd won't spend a dime on Arma 3. DayZ won't be made for it. so the only ones buying it are once again hardcore OFP fans and an odd bored gamer.

  6. concerning suppression, I always wanted to know, do passing bullets affect a persons vision or hearing in any way in real life? I was under the impression the only effect of suppressing the enemy was making him keep hi head down and not get his head blown off, i.e. test his common sense. and in games people add all kinds of crap like blur, deafness etc. to indicate that the player "is being suppressed". how close to reality is that? any combat veterans here?

    pretty much like in real life AFAICT, the laser reflects off of your target in an arc, so the pilot has to be inside a certain area to be able to lock on. the easiest way to do it is to fly in on your target from behind the guy on the hill lasing the tanks.

    to be fair, Wasteland kind of gives players something they don't get in other games. it's still a crappy game mode, and needs a lot of improvement. but everything else (objective based PvP, large scale PvP) other games do better. Arma 2 really only had Warfare for people to play against each other, and I never thought Warfare was a good PvP game mode (a lot of potential, crappy implementation). Wasteland is similar to Warfare in a number of key features, though. only Wasteland is a free-for-all sandbox, while Warfare players really need direction. that's the thing, in Wasteland you can just jump in, play for 30 or so minutes, get some fun out of it and disconnect. while in bigger and more complex game modes like Domination, if you really want to enjoy it you have to invest a lot of time into it, and one single person can just ruin it for everyone in 5 minutes. hence why most servers require certain mods to join: oftentimes it's a retard filter. I don't know if there's a way around it. either Bohemia or modders need to come up with an MP game mode that doesn't punish other players for one player's mistakes/bad conduct; that doesn't require you to spend 10 to 30 minutes before you can see some action. another issue is lack of official servers that are up 24/7. only servers we have are provided by other players, and they will always want to enhance their experience by adjusting the rules and/or adding mods. that has always been the number one cause of splitting the community. it happened in A2 with mods like ACE/I44/DayZ etc. it will surely happen in A3 (especially if the Dev Build function remains post-beta test and replaces beta patches)

    I see, thanks. so it would seem the third person thing is a bug. also, it's odd that this would only become an issue now, after having played with ACE for two years this is the first time I ever encountered this feature while flying the GBU-12 A-10 :confused: EDIT: oh, I see GBU-12 bombs didn't support it until recently, so that's the reason, I guess. well, time to learn the new system

    we've been having trouble with the A-10 recently. while flying in 1st person upon switching to bombs (GBU-12 in our case), the game instantly switches it off (replacing the "Paveway" option with "Consent Release" or something). pressing the fire button does nothing. but if the player switches to 3rd person view, the plane switches back to bombs, and you can drop them freely. is this a new feature or a bug?

    oh, makes sense :) I am not sure there is a need for a workaround really. it doesn't kill the player, just a minor nuisance, so I wouldn't bother

    we had a couple of problems with this mod, just throwing it here in case it wasn't mentioned before. it's concerning ACE. when you initialize the auto-pilot while having players in the gunner's position, they get teleported out of the plane. and in that moment ACE wounds is triggered somehow, they both lose consciousness for a minute or so: the screen becomes black for both of them.

    are you playing Domination by any chance? because Xeno (?) has given the enemy soldiers extra lives to make it more challenging (??). they die and instantly are brought back to life for you to kill them a second time.
  18. the only thing the ranking system is used, as far as I know, is for morale checks. I don't know why you absolutely need it to include a million different sergeants, does it hurt your eyes to see the wrong rank pop up when you target a unit? immersion aside (what a ridiculous concept) why can't you pretend they're NCOs or whatever? why does the game have to include it in its mechanics? I always set every single playable unit to private, because it doesn't affect anything in the game

Wasteland is a very odd mode that seems to be trying to merge DayZ and :Life. only without zombies and civilians. it's so painfully dumb that I kind of lost hope in Arma's community seeing Wasteland servers always full. Insurgency is a game mode ported over from Project Reality, only in Arma it isn't strictly PvP. in Insurgency you have to look for caches and destroy them. it's the best dynamic coop mode currently in the game for small squads and urban warfare the other mission where you start at base is called Domination
