    Hello, I just wanted to point out an interesting project on Kickstarter than I think deserver backing and what less than ARMA 3 integration. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/yeitechnology/priovr-get-your-ideas-moving It is still a bit expensive for casual gamer but I bet there are many VR enthusiast, real sim loving gamers and developers who would be willing to splash money on screen for such piece of tech. Even then you will still have to get Oculus and some threadmill like Virtuix. And what do you think? PS: This might be wrong section of forum so feel free to move it. (And sorry)

    Questions about free DLC?!?

    I bet on that the vehicles and weapons are not yet ready as they should be. I know that BIS guys are really into making a great game without releasing content that is not worth it unlike a lot of big game companies nowadays. Just wait a few weeks and you will see content coming up not as DLC but regular patches and later even DLCs like in ARMA2 OA.

    Only thing I can confirm you is that the retail is not country locked (in EU) but not sure about EU-US but it should be fine as I had used US copy of ARMA1 before. @Optafael007 I would buy disc too if there wasn´t supporter with all its bonuses. Also I remember your nickname somehow from before. Did you played Flashpoint or ARMA1?
  4. It depends on player (Single player) settings or server settings. You can disable almost everything so you can end up having to report everything in chat or voice, marking map and using scopes/ironsight to shoot because there will be no crosshair. AFAIK it is possible to disable some/all of these only to vehicles (maybe even air vehicles only).

    Just to add a little detail. The game will have retail version in some countries BUT you will still need to activate it on steam. This means you can install it from DVD but you will still have to play via Steam to keep the game up to date (and prevent duplicates playing).

    Ah, yes... I mean that what I said was directed to Bennys edition in ARMA 1/2, that is why I wrote not beign sure about BIS version. I must have forgot to write that I described BE. This function was however even in the old community made MFCTI 1.6 back at Operation Flashpoint Resistance.
  7. I do not blame BIS. They did a great job overall on not just ARMA 3 but all of their games. Sometimes they stumbled and made mistakes or kept same turrets for example but as it is nowadays, things keep changing. My guess would be the game is going to be released as it is and later as regular updates, DLCs or Expansions (like OA) is gonna add new skins or remodify old ones and upgrade engine, UI and the rest.

    Not sure about BIS version of CTI/Warfare mission but if you are commander you should have option to assing orders to AI squads where one of the orders is about units it should use to carry out mission you give them. You might however need Command center for that action to unlock. Example Squad 3 Formation Vedge Alert red Mechanized AA squad Guard area (click on map)

    Why no SAM sites?

    It is true there were no SAM sites which was problem mostly in missions like Warfare/CTI but we managed to get along with it using AA vehicles with gunner only or static defence system which in ARMA2 consisted of seat that had attached 2 Stinger/Igla missiles to it.

    How to drop GBU with no laser guidence

    Well either you need to approximate the impact area depending on your speed + height + target distance which is easy if you fly low even at high speed (I can hit car with every 2nd bomb directly flying under 400m and top speed in jet) but it gets a lot tricky at high altitute. If you want to bomb unguided from high altitude and do not have B 52 bomber then all you can do is drop blind bombs or perform dive as shown in image from Kylania. With dive the bomb keeps it speed and descending angle more or less so it is not so hard ho hit with accuracy of 25-50 m2 when flying from cockpit.

    Lase & GBU on Buzzard not locking

    GBUs are laser guided and you need a guy or vehicle with laser marker close enought so the marker can actually paint the target (not sure with distance but in ARMA2 we bombed with 1000+ m marks). About hitting the target once you acquired it is a different story. The accuracy of hitting target depends on your speed (bomb will drop with same speed), height and angle under which you fly. If you fly high above target with 800km/ph and drop the bomb 1km away it is likely that you will miss it since the 1km is shown but not as ground distance but point to point (you can count real distance a s triangle, practice math). You will either have to slow down, drop from farther way or perform a short dive to drop the bomb. Note that laser can be kept as lock on target only on limited distance unlike vehicles (keep as target as long as they are seen.... mostly).
  12. Yes, there should be autopilot at least for maintaining direction and level of flight you are right. To be honest I too use map when new ARMA comes up till I get basic knowledge of map. Still the question here was not for fixed wind plane but helo. :) In addition to that problem depending on you PC performance and for how long has you ARMA been running (including you actions and mission you played) the map can take from 0.1 to 5 secs to appear or go back to game.
  13. I think the point here is that you shouldn´t open the map in jet or helo at all. :D All you need is to know approximate shape of map and some basic landmarks. When you have got that you just need to take off and set waypoint where you want to attack in process. After this all you should need is that waypoint and rought estimation of your area based on map knowledge and landmarks so you can choose direction where to fly.

    Yeah, my mistake here. I forgot to mention that if you want to use it for gaming then products like Virtuix Omni + Oculus rift together are recommended. The other option wouldbe above mentioned Omni and Rift without the PrioVR but instead STEM tracking system that is coming to kickstarter the same day ARMA3 releases.

    BIS is established in Czech Republic (Bohemia). That means GTM +1 time zone (London 14:00/2 pm, BIS 15:00/3 pm) If you live in New York then just add 6 hours to your current time and you get BIS time.     Helicopter Instruments

    It is like PantherAI said. Not all vehicles have same equipment installed. Lets give you example from ARMA2. The UH1 helo at US side. It was old type of helo (Vietnam war afaik) so when you flew it you could see HUD (maybe it had to be there for air vehicle) on top left of screen but it had no radar. That meant you had HUD like other new helos (more modern) but you could not see incoming AAs so unless you looked for them (infantry AA speed was slow enought) or had scout wired to you. If you hadn´t then the few stacks of flares you had were useful only as fireworks once you got shot down.
  17. There is no key to do this. You will have to use your controls to maintain speed and altitude. The only thing ARMA allows you to do is Auto-hover. It is good when you want to keep steady in higher altitude or assisting new players with landing. Still I would reccommend not using auto-hover for landing since it often swiwels you helo like crazy before steadying it up (unless you do yourself before). When I made a comparison how long it takes to land with 250kp/h speed using autohover and without the result was all against auto-hover. It took almost 30 seconds to land with it enabled but only about 6s without it on airfield (both).

Click here EDIT: Now when I look at them the small islands around the mains seem strange to me. I will have to install OPF back and take a look becuse I have no memory of them I could recall (Still I remember most of main islands without looking on map I could drive you trought as tour).

    Unable to slot on MP.

    Just another idea... Assuming that you can click some buttons or even change faction but cannot join slot there is a chance that UI is wrong. I do not know how exactly UI is handled by our BI guys but if they handle it as main frame and subframes it is possible that sub frame with slots is off. This happened to me many times on other systems and maybe even on ARMA. The button is shown right but actual trigger is off. It can end up like this. You keep clicking the slot and nothing happens because the trigger is in between the graphical button. Try going to settings and change UI size and try out calibration. This is silly idea and not likely to happen but I have seen it too many times.

    Random stutter + slowing down

    I am not a graphics expert but there are few things I know from playing this for years. (Might not be 100% correct) 1. The game permanenetly loads an area around (lets say 1 km). So no matter how fast you turn it doesn´t have effect since everything in range is already loaded up. This can case shuttering at high speeds in low altitude since the area it loads is more or less sphere. 2. Areas you have been to seems to be kept stored in some way so they do not have to load again from scratch (including game objets like tanks). This caused me a permanent performance drop (till game was restarted or command to reload memory entered) after prolonged session of ARMA 2 warfare missions or ARMA 1 Evolution map.

    Unable to slot on MP.

    What just struck me as possible reasons. 1. Version mismatch. That might allow you to join game but might kick you in some time. 2. Server or slots are locked. Mostly likely not since it is your server. 3. You are lagging with server. That causes delay and can take up multiple minutes before actually processed. Example: You click red 1-1 slot, 2 minutes pass before you actually hop in. 4. Bug that is on ARMA side and you won´t solve it by yourself. EDIT 5. Player who dropped out still "occupies" slot. This happens when someones connections blacks out so you just have to wait for time-out to clear the slot. The time-out sometimes does not clear the slot and it is locked till game ends and new map is chosen. Mostly likely not case if server is empty.

    My Controls Are Screwed Up!

    If you don´t want to loose you bindings in the future save your config file on different location than ARMA folder (Windows Documents). If they change keybindings after that you will just close the game and copy rows that include keybindings. If they change keybind name it will not work. If new one is added and you will "delete" it with pasting old ones it should reappear next time you launch game as unbinded.

    Terrain Issues

    Damn it, another post dissapeared during posting. Anyway the sinking is common problem since long ago. I did not care about it because it happened rarely (mostly stairs on ground level). You will have to ask devs or wait till someone who fixed this replies. About the weapon... It is right to hear it from distance if you play from 3rd in moment you reload because sound origin is gun (unlike other games) and the point to receive that sound is camera position few meters behind character.

    Problem to get keyboard to qwertz

    Hi there, I always say someone who wanted to differentiate made QWERTZ layout in some EU countries. You problem is that the game uses current Windows language. I don´t know what exact layout you are using but from what I checked you should select 3 possibilities in language settings. 1. English German (No idea what Microsoft want to say) 2. German 3. German IBM My guess would be that in that one of them has Y/Z reversed and unfortunately the one you are using (or ARMA got mad). Try going to language settings, swap to another language, delete german and then put back the right one. Just to say the Language in code you posted is game language not typing language.
