  1. I like this mission. Yes, it's difficult, especially the first few times when you don't know exactly what you're up against, but I like a challenging mission that requires you to think about your tactics and develop a good plan. Just like in real life, failure to use proper tactics means you end up dead. If I wanted simple gameplay with missions I can just run through without thinking I'd play a shooter like Call of Duty or something instead!

The same goes for the "Payback" scenario (I think that's what it's called). It will also seem frustratingly difficult if you try just moving against the enemy base without a plan, and without using good tactics.

Same dude, just annoys me when the only competent missile soldier is yourself and there's lots of armour to destroy. The amount of times I was sniped locking onto an APC was ridiculous. Really didn't enjoy that mission. Also anti climactic mission finale really :(

  2. This is basically what I did.

Quit the base itself - you've got absolutely no cover anywhere therein from the high slopes which surround you on 3 sides.

Bomb your guys up with gear and get the hell out of the base before shit starts happening. I ran northeast up the slope, got teh l00ns onto line and faced south from the top of the cliff, prone, naturally.

Hopefully you've taken out the mortar teams and have the populace of the local towns on your side; this makes things much easier.

Wax the armour as it turns up (a couple of M113s, if I recall), and use your ACOGs to touch far away enemies. If you've got a DMR or sniper rifle, even better. Basically hang in there until you've survived the first wave, and go down yourself to grab more AT ammo. You'll need it.

If you are still alive after all this, the last few enemies are usually off the west. I had around 3 guys still alive at this point, including the medic, thank god.

I do agree however, that this mission is an exercise in dodginess. I wasn't a fan the first time I played through it.

Cheers mate, managed to do it losing just one man to a sniper after quitting the base. Horrible, atrocious mission...think I'll skip it next time around.

  3. Ah awesome mate, cheers. Totally did not see them at all.

Yeah even with those RPGs I'm still having my arse handed to me. The javelin is terrible for close range stuff since it doesn't lock on, the NLAW's aim is off (it doesn't go anywhere near the centre of the crosshair or sight) and every time I pop out to fire a rocket I get an instant bullet to the head. Any more tips? This level is killing off my interest in what was, up until this point, awesome DLC. Never before have I had to force myself just to attempt a mission....

  4. I have something to add about this mission; how on Earth do you do it? I have completed Arma 2 and Op Arrow with no problems at all but this mission causes me all manners of pain. As soon as the APCs show up my guys are just massacred as we have no firepower to deal with them. The grenade launcher you can deploy only causes superficial damage and the NPC AT specialists are so idiotic it's getting to the point where I may shoot them just so that my squad can use their missiles.

tl;dr: How do you kill off the APCs when no substantial firepower is supplied?
