    Advanced Helicopter FDM Feedback

Knowing the devs are looking into it is very good news indeed RotorLib feedback - Dyslexi did a great job pointing out some of the areas of what can be improved in his youtube video, mainly the over sensitiveness, so looking forward to additional refinement but other than that rotorlib is a brilliant addition to the game BI and while I still sit on 114 hours play time ( Yes the incomplete vehicles physx keeps me frustrated ) but I see the hours skyrocketing due to inclusion of TOH model alone and can't wait for rope physx. Few things that I have noticed as a keyboard & mouse flyer - Even though the option to set manual trim to mouse wheel down or up is there it interferes with the ingame menu Binding the Collective right and left to mouse wheel menu also activates the ingame menu instead, even though the option to do so is officially offered in the keys configuration Its very hard to hit the right amount of collective - manual trim on keyboard; would it be possible to #1 lower the sensitivity and #2 being able to apply the force on the rear rotor incrementally, just as is the case with throttle? Also and I appreciate this would be low-er priority but something that shouldn't be too time consuming to redo - The textures on some helicopters are extremely low res and also very inconsistent and the contrast of difference between the dashboard is bit too much http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/576778170764548242/2D055193A66F4228BFAA28DB47D619E364040F6A/ (341 kB) http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/576778170764545763/ED2EE4C748BFC8109261615863C154828C97F944/ http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/576778170764543480/17FAE60E2CF60851082C24036F5A6A6012C209D9/ http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/576778170764547104/52A8DED21E0CBE12D25A5A527FAD739B8D9D309E/

The Economist LOL  Does nobody find it strange that Russia is being sanctioned right from the beginning yet the controversy of information of what has actually, really, happened appears to be unclear after all that time? I have seen a live report couple days ago from Ron Paul who said that Russian president V. Putin has been very cooperative in presenting all the information the Russian Intelligence has, including satellite images and that it was Putin himself calling for an unbiased team to gather evidence to be presented. Funnily enough, the video appears to be gone now. Ron Paul and 'The Nation' want the U.S. to stop blaming poor Russia Ron Paul wonders whether we can trust the mainstream media's coverage of #MH17 And some word from Vladimir Putin himself ( English subtitles ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dWsXSTUe2M

    Let's talk about tanks

My issues with tanks - very WIP physx even long after the BETA stage ( which supposed to be dedicated getting vehicles right ) exceptionally boring, non immersive sounds ( and that is even if the sounds were recorded straight from source eg. real life tank, I doubt the job took more than half an hour and anything other than tank driving couple feet forward and backwards just to get the base sounds ) nonexistent & very disappointing interaction with terrain as per OP other than pushes being pushed into ground in a funny to say the least animation and on top of it, the issues mentioned here earlier. Yes dear BI, still looking forward to more tweaks and still didn't get over it :)

    Israel General

I have not once seen any evidence that after an airstrike the IDF have indeed found any rockets. Do I think Hamas is storing RPG's in some schools or hospitals? Yes I do but again I haven't seen as much as a hint of evidence. As for warning before airstrike or artillery attacks in civilian populated areas - How many times would any of us be willing to leave our own house before artillery / airstrike if they witness this on daily basis? I imagine many would get to the stage that it would simply be ignored and all that aside, what guarantees do the civilians have that they will be even allowed to move back to their houses providing they haven't been demolished by machinery or the airstrike itself? I disagree and I think Israel couldn't possibly be any less careless than they already display. As of Hamas, I have to wonder whether the IDF would simply walk in to all Palestine had they little to no resistance at all ---------- Post added at 07:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:11 PM ---------- I don't think Israel would appreciate artificially isolated island and Emirates are too busy selling oil :) As for the second line - I don't think there is as much as droplet of hope that the two sides will settle on some sort of compromise anytime soon and as such I think the UN should interfere in it. Its more or less UN's mess after all Also - Even if the impact of outcome is questionable, it doesn't take longer than a single minute to fill up

Bohemia on the right way with Arma 3?

I haven't got a clue whether BI is on the right track or not. One one side I'm happy to see them working on better material & introduction for newcomers but at the same time I feel that doesn't really affect me as BI is doing it for themselves and their business to attract more new people and not enhancing my own play. Then again its good to see them thinking slightly outside of the box and the VR thing seems to be a great addition. The planned Marksmen and Helicopter DLC look very promising but seeing as the progress in some other areas is either stagnating or seemingly nonexistent I'm unsure whether those DLC's are something to get excited about and not just hyped up. The amount of work still needing to be done on the base game ( according to players from my observations ) can be accounted in years rather than months I think so to me its still quite unclear where the improvement will follow and where they're done with it so its unsure in my case ---------- Post added at 03:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:57 PM ---------- 83 votes unsure of what is to come vs 113 votes confident in BI's direction? hmm
  8. Most are probably familiar with streaming services like Grooveshark, Spotify and iTunes - some allow you to listen for free with some adds thrown in and some require a monthly subscription but you can buy any song at anytime from them all. The main difference is probably their library content. For instance iTunes may not have your favorite artist or a song but you might find it on Spotify instead. The quality in the streamed music slightly differs too ( ie - the original [Master] recording used ) and as such some songs may sound better than others, however the difference is quite subtle in most cases. For instance I despise iTunes Mp3 files can sound butchered compared to the same song available on Spotify or anywhere else and the reason is that apparently records are specially made for iTunes and are made to sound as loud as possible, which is not necessarily a good thing. Other formats such as AIFF should be available on iTunes however when buying a song and should not be butchered as their Mp3 files so the choice is there. Other formats worth mentioning are WAV and FLAC which should be true to the full range original record over compressed Mp3. There are quite few music streaming providers available in the EU and one that stands out is a French streaming service called www.qobuz.com[/size]/fr-fr/"]Qobuz They have a neat Desktop application that can be changed to english if you prefer, however subscription will probably be required Outside of the EU the streaming service might have more variety, especially the US and I'd like to hear what do you use when listening to music or where do you buy your music from :)

Music Streaming - and the alternatives

I completely forgotten about Pandora. Unfortunately revisiting Pandora is still access restricted for anyone outside of the US :( and I don't see much point in proxy thinkering. Another service is Rhapsody - Napster ( in EU I presume ) unfortunately it appears as their streaming is only 128kbps which is far below the already not so impressive 320kbps

    Sandbags Armour

Its not realistic and neither its a bug. There's quite few objects resistant to penetration / destruction from anything like an armor to AT4 or bullets
  14. Absolutely Mainstream is a sad market really - people are either lazy or can't be bothered to look around for alternatives and in other words people just suck things up as they don't know any better. I probably sound like elitist ass but isn't it how it is? Market for by suckers for suckers? It's actually hilarious how reverted this is - one would imagine that something that supposed to generate broader and healthier returns - ie mass market is actually where the quality suffers which I think is true and not limited to gaming only. Whereas niche anything - one always gets most for their buck (plus) with bit more personality thrown in. Probably another good example are digital downloads and audio particularly - The amount of people still listening to 128kbps Mp3 is quite shocking. Its no wonder that companies can get away with pretty much anything - most CD's today sound like shit because people don't know better. Itunes is full of over compressed mp3 files with clipping loudness on top of it. So why is that? Because by suckers for suckers - they will get away with it only because the majority of people don't care or can't even see the difference between DVD and Blu-Ray. What am I on about here than - Well niche market / products is the only way to go if it quality matters to you, whether its a game or goods
  15. Very enlightening, France. Back to the paid content; I also disagree with the notion that more readily available Donate options / button will significantly increase awareness (and) for better funding on authors web. So are we doomed then? This might be a long shot but maybe we should have a Monthly Contribution section on these very forums - stickied and well visible something like This Every month, one of each randomly selected - MOD, MISSION, ADDON - receive equal cut from said monthly donations ( Theoretically further increasing modders income when modder X is working with cooperation on mod Y, receiving another equal cut from X and Y the next month ) As to avoid re-electing the same mod or a mission over and over again - Once the mission or an addon has received its monthly reward, it cannot be added to the pool for monthly donations sooner than 6 months ( an example ) I appreciate this might not be the most capitalistic idea and might have flaws that I didn't think of but if anyone have any better and more fair idea I am all ears :)
  16. I feel on fence on this Afaik most admins / server hosts don't get compensated ( or at least recover their fees as each month goes by - just like armaholic or any other ) and have to pay a hefty monthly fee for their hosting so that others can play with friends on their server but to put into something 300 plus hours is, even for a hobbyist a lot of time and effort for nothing else but respect| admiration| recognition - that comes with it. That is a huge commitment Money in addons might somehow split the community and deter potential modders even further but isn't this already happening for number of other reasons? I dare to think that good portion of modders are still around just. I'm not even long enough around here yet but can already tell that the majority of mods are the less time consuming - like re textures, than others needing 10 times that time and effort. The near future might leave us with few hardcore modders left or we might need to look at other options than donations before most of these guys just burn out

    Refined Vehicles

Naturally that question been directed at somebody else but is it possible to have different roll strengths for the front and rear sway bar? It could affect the vehicle steering and stability quite a bit Also, has any one tested different rebound and dumping for the front and rear axis separately? What I mean is that the dumpers aren't always the same strength for both axis and the heavier part ( engine side ) is usually stiffer IRL

USA vs rest of the world

I wouldn't say that its budget/s being the ultimate deciding factor and could end up on not having enough oil or powder to fill shells with. Unconventional wars might be getting harder by a day also

Surround sound problems, DEVs take notice

I think we can blame ourselves and I have to wonder sometimes what is worse, being milked by EA and their endless DLC's & micro packages or buying the - prettier on surface - niche title and wait 2 years + to fully enjoy it, frustration free Honestly, I haven't got a clue how hard is to work on in game sounds but I somehow doubt its as complicated as it has to take over a year to show any or some progress
  23. Bee8190

    We need worse weapon systems

The self acquiring targets and ease of use along with when nearly every soldier is carrying javelin or carl gustav can really prove difficult for vehicle warfare in arma. Heavy vehicles like tanks and apc's are more of an bounty targets for both Ai and players now and the somewhat flat and open , partly hilly terrain of altis doesn't help to avoid all these weapons. I do miss old launchers like in arma 2

Imagine What Next Gen In Arma Would Look Like

Whether next gen or the same reworked engine - I think the devil is in the details. Yes arma is a very pretty game but some of its features still feel archaic and feels dull but I think all or most of it can, I think, be done still on current gen of the engine. I 'm talking about details like mentioned wind with appropriate wind and weather effects, environment sounds like dog barking ( or wolf howling at night - for illustration ) and good bit of attention to terrain interaction, like ( partially and for the immersion ) destructible environment and mud - traction difficulty simulation for vehicles. Again, more attention to detail and environment ( rivers and bridges would be nice too )
