  1. Something I've been wondering about as well. Not only am I sick of the L ''alca'' plane being in every game so far but also it's the only one. If there were licensing issues why not just do what has been done with all vehicles? Slight design changes and name change and off we go?

Gun Sound QUALITY is fine, but we need more variety.

OP is right. I thought the weapon sounds are more or less place holders but with the final release announcement they probably aren't anymore and I don't think the new reverb and echo stuff is going to change it significantly. They do sound too similar. If it's still in works then good ( HEMTT and Kamaz truck vehicles share the same sample as well ) as the civilian SUV truck and ATV got new sounds too but I hope this is subject to further refinement
  3. I don't think customers ever cared about reasons but I let them talk for themselves and I disagree about the in-depth part as I feel the game is incomplete and will still be good while after release.

lol ok thank you for the clarification PP. I couldn't distinguish what exactly am I seeing and the panic mode must have kicked in :o
  5. Vehicle handling needs some tweaking aright but it's not poor. Hunter and Marshall are decent enough. I agree though that vehicle physx and terrain interaction is still gamey as hell.

http://twitter.com/KarelMoricky/status/350613770315390976/photo/1 The model is stunning, top work but man, this is going to be such sabot magnet I wonder if the usability of this will be any better then one big steel coffin. goddammit I rather won't
  7. lol , rest assured, the game is thoroughly tested by it's players :D
  8. As per title, what silly things have you tested so far ? ;) Let me start - I placed the civilian 4X4 offroad and the HEMTT utility truck in the editor and just drove around. After some testing I decided it would be fun to crash the utility truck into that civi 4x4 in high speed and see what happens. Well the 4x4 of course burst in flames and explosion followed shortly after. That didn't satisfy my test run though so I decided it'd be interesting to see what will burning wreckage do if I push it to the sea with my untouched HEMTT truck. To my surprise, water did what it does well and put an end to all those flames as soon as the burning wreck came to contact with the sea
  9. Because there wasn't any recovery vehicle. Vehicles shouldn't turn them self on wheels again but we also need the ability to get them running again ( a recovery vehicle ). Would be great for damaged ( non-flipped ) vehicles too

The what have you bought thread

C'mon guys this is teh picture thread! Tonci lovely bike - I remember when I first tried the disc brakes on pal's specialized, I was thrown over the handlebars like raider on wild bull lol  Also upgraded since because umm....what if the other amp sounds better? :p ( anyone owning an amp will surely understand this curse ) Random google pic It's got more power then my previous yamaha amp and also sounds better to my taste. Its little complicated though as it's over(loaded) with features and I had to ( once again ) resort to reading a manual. ( nope, man shouldn't need any manuals! :p) The unit is fairly big and is heavy as hell, yet to my disappointment, the knobs as well the fascia are just plastic...( whatever happened to proper, unnecessarily thick & heavy aluminium panels?! ) Bottom line - go for it, it's nice sounding amp packed with features for decent price ( as of now :p )

Sigh...Reading this thread from dev's point of view must be quite horrible but as someone already mentioned, the fan base really does care for the game and eagerly watch the game grow. Bi you need to price your game higher recruit all dem talented people and get a bigger studio!! :p

Ok honestly now... how is arma primarily infantry simulator? You can't even climb / step on to objects or shoot through pile of wooden boxes and thats not to mention wind affected ballistics or weapon resting I am trying to understand we can't have it all alright but this is 3th gen of the franchise and I am not impressed

I hope most of it went to the wages :beeeers: Now I personally am not as worried about the content as the plan made sense to me - less content but higher quality but this is where I feel little disappointed as in , yes the models / textures are awesome, the damage model and terrain interaction is just bad. For now I feel I've seen less content visually nicely done but..thats it
  14. I wish wind has been implemented. ACE guys done it and seemingly it shouldn't be too tricky adding to the game --------------------------------- @ getting sick of this. There's always something that needs to be re-fixed...honestly :(
  15. Obviously I'd like to see more content and will be happy to pay for DLC as long as it's nothing like ACR. What I'd hope for though, is expansion like AO was but even more focused on pushing the engine limits away. There's massive pool of features that the community has been asking for ages...

I don't mean / need to speak for anyone but while using the wording disaster would be plain unfair and not true, I don't blame the sceptics either and I am not even hinting at the delayed campaign, as that is something that I can personally enjoy the game without till it's simply ready. Without giving the impression of trying to discredit the amount of work put in the game so far, I really do feel like I haven't seen enough. While improvements on many fronts / parts of the game, others appear to be the same base as from arma 1/2 and I was hoping for entire and fullest overhaul the game could possibly go through. I very much appreciate the dedication and cooperation with the community BI's doing and for the 25 / 50 / 70 quid it's still great deal but I personally would rather pay twice as much to make even more out of it, preferably without the need for a DLC because there are still tons of shortcomings that somewhat hinder the game. Basically put - you can do this; but what you can't do is this and that; or am I too demanding? Well so be it. Well my c2 anyway

    Vehicles need gears

I came here to pay a compliment on new ATV sound, which is really well done, as well handling, which gotten fairly better since last build although ; Yep and I would do that too BUT..there's no such a thing as floor it down in arma (yet  ?). I don't mean to be anal and pick every little thing apart but I realized while we got reasonable vehicle handling and nice sounds for the most part, I honestly say here that all the terrain and vehicle interaction still leaves me very dissatisfied. I know that most of you rather appreciate the infantry and all that gear but I can't be the only one here thinking that vehicle interaction with terrain & objects is extremely basic and compares to game from many years ago? One doesn't need to be some kind of race-sim enthusiast to be able to see how basic and similar it feels to arma 1-2. If we look at GTA 4 or even 3, which has hardly authentic driving model, you were able to senselessly spin tires and make doughnuts, roll over, spin the vehicle at speed and wreck the vehicle in so many ways and so much more in game that is now fairly old and I ask why there hasn't been nearly no improvements whatsoever, aside of the handling?
  18. Soldier should be able to sprint ( which rather looks like run or even fast jog, than sprinting anyway ) little further than 650m. As for fast jog ( sprint ) with handgun and trousers doing only 250m is also rather conservative. I don't mind the loudness of the breathing as much as the choking / gasping noise which is entirely overdone. Faster breathing with just occasional gasping would be more appropriate I think.

elaboration about how to improve effects

I think bullets kicking off particles / dust is, again, very conservative; whether being shot against stone wall or into the ground they seem to be too subtle. Would like to see more improvement there.
  20. Is it only me who's concerned about the stamina all over the place more then the breathing itself ( not done all that well , agreed) ? You can't literally jog for 20m before you start hearing desperate gasps for breath and that's with handgun only, no body armor, helmet, or grenades.

    Vehicles need gears

Tear of joy filled my eyes! - High engine RPM while turning, great work so far and do keep it up! ;) The kamish opfor tracked vehicle is coming along nicely and I made some observation that I would like to get more attention to. I noticed that while I quite like the sound of this tracked vehicle, it has very aggressive low tones / base and my subwoofer is going nuts whenever I drive this vehicle. Don't get me wrong, its punchy with lot of power but it is like I am listening to subwoofer only really. No doubt, subject to further tweaking but I thought I mention this anyway. I also noticed ( already mentioned in some other thread ) the odd twitching / jerking of tracked vehicles that happens in medium to high speeds. I have no clue how the tracks are implemented nor how they work along with vehicle as whole but let me try - It would seem that the tracks are separate entity and operate only on engine / throttle input, which would explain why they currently live their own life under the vehicle. ( almost like the animation? is out of sync with anything other that the vehicle does ) If that would be even and only partially correct, I'd imagine linking / locking the tracks to the engine response would theoretically eliminate the jerky track movement, vehicle would not exceed any speed limits while rolling downhill (as that would be simply bound to max engine RPM's ) and would result in more precise driving and turning of the vehicles. Another thing I appreciate is that as IRL, going uphill sideways makes a difference and is speedier , as opposed to going up the hill head on. Well, my english is quite limited but if that doesn't make much sense please do let me know and I'll try to explain my assumption in more detail Suggestion I noticed how all vehicles share the same issue, I guess mostly due to the transmission and wanted to propose some changes that I believe would probably bring significant improvements right away and could be worth a go. The situation - Currently all our vehicle engines idle at far too low values of about 600 RPM and this result in the very slow forward movement up hills from stand still or low speeds but once the revs are ( still at rather low ) at ~ 1500 / 2000 RPM, the driver can take on any obstacle or hill in front of him or her. Proposal - implementing some kind of limiter that would not allow the engine revs to drop under 1000 RPM. Outcome - As the vehicles have no clutch ( and therefor be able to rev the engine higher with no gear engaged ), the expected outcome would be enough power at all times, even from standstill sitting on steep incline. As of now, there's very noticeable delay before the vehicle start to move. Reasoning - Some big engines as well racing car engines must idle as high as ~ 1100 RPM, otherwise the engine would stall itself and power off. but ofc, theres some more to it but its one of the reasons why race cars are being pushed from the box. Another suggestion would be to slow down the transmission. not how fast it can change gears, thats 100% fine but make it slower before it does change gears. What I mean is that it should keep the engaged gear for much longer before change to another occurs again. If anyone made it this far, thank you for reading ;)

Vehicles too slow offroad and uphill

I never let go of the shift button ;) Speaking of which, nevermind the damage, it's bit of a shame that whenever the front wheels are lost or damaged, the vehicle becomes entirely immobile. Most vehicles ingame are 4x4 and I pretty confident it would not mean game over if the driver wanted, never mind the further damage nor longevity of the vehicle.

    The sound thread

I agree sounds need more work, I always liked Hi-Fi mod for environment and 50 Cal and JSRS for explosions and other stuff. Nice video btw

    Vehicles need gears

Thank you for the kind words. I am not sure if I entirely understood, but torque is not the only and essential force or a factor that makes the car move. Torque will get the car up to speed as a push force but its the horsepower ( generated by increasing engine RPM's ) that keeps the car going and keep it's speed, therefore it is essential that our engines generate higher RPM's. Also while it all makes sense that the transmission is using most of the torque available, its also only one side of the coin. Please see attached video, it's an audi Q7 with ''only'' 3.0TDI V6 engine with automatic transmission More reference off road with Q7 Starts at 0:50 and 1:47 Now bit of feedback on: Hunter military vehicle - This vehicle handles pretty much exactly I'd imagine it should or does IRL. It feels heavy, like it carry its weight while turning yet the steering is quite lively and responsive. Good work on this one. If we were to aim for even better, then the vehicle could carry just little more weight to it but only while turning. Thisone is hard for me to explain so as I can't think of anyt better explanation atm but, here we go - Imagine the car is full of water inside and to achieve this; more weight carrying while turning ( but only while turning ) we need the inside of the vehicle little more full of water. There is also fair room for improvement on its sound. Currently it sounds rather un-interesting and very casual? When the vehicle is going fast on runway, it does give the impression like its in neutral gear or with very little throttle applied. Again, very little immersion in sounds but fairly decent work on its handling overall. Collision seem to need more tweaks as when I hit an ATV in about 50Km/hr, the hunter tends to jump over it. Expected behaviour should be like a train meets a shopping trolley :) Gears are also done best so far on this vehicle, however still far from ideal or authentic. Get go from stand still could be little more lively / dynamic. Another issue is, and that applies to all vehicles, is that while turning, no power seem to be applied till the steering is straight again. (same as the reports of aircraft stalling while turning ) AMV-7 Marshall Just great all around and my current favorite in game. The vehicle feels very heavy as it should yet the steering does what user tells it to. feels very authentic for me personally. The AMV-7 also hold its gears on inclines and use high RPM then any other vehicle and is just fun to drive around, as it feels like most finished vehicle available ingame. Sound - could use more improvement though. It doesn't sound bad really but there is something missing. The engine doesn't sound aggressive enough? I still don't know. (more RPM :D ) Thanks for reading :)
