  1. erm ... "Is the new black face compass by design or a bug ?" If its by design the design is not good. It has very poor readability in the field. If its a bug, no worries as long as you know :)

  6. Nothing against AGM or TMR but they have a long way to go before they can be considered substitutes for ACE. Like I say nothing against those two mods at all, they are great in there own rights. Its just people are saying "oh you miss ACE try these mods" when in fact they come nowhere near to what ACE does/did/whatever :). Yer I know fanboy !

  9. Which is basically the the premise behind this whole thread I think. I feel the op was asking for Arma3 to promote a harder difficulty setting than it currently does. Obviously this upsets people who feel they are not playing in easy mode and that certain options are needed, also Vice Versa. I think it speaks for its self though that the devs don't have a difficulty without crosshair on and only one difficulty out of four that's not got 3rd on. The default settings are geared towards a more casual game play style and could benefit from a revamp with increased difficulty as the default. From my point of view. Though there must be a reason they keep the settings all geared towards casual play and only one difficulty (almost) on a harder style. Money would be my guess.

I can carry say two titan AT rockets in my back pack or fill up that space with Stanag mags now the two AT rockets should weight a lot more than the same capacity as stanags but they weigh the same it seems as far as fatigue is concerned. in fact the item weight seems to have no effect on fatigue at all only the capacity of the items you are carrying. Weapons etc seem to have weight effect but items stored dont.

My home server still does not show via steam. with the latest update 1.22.125469 Forwarded ports for my router are :- UDP 2300-2305 UDP 8766 UDP 27016 Firewalls disabled for testing. and still doesn't show. Wont show via remote either only way to find it is via LAN which is pointless when testing MP functionality. Similar situation for our Community Game server. Will show via remote but Wont show via ingame browser or if it does it takes 20mins to show up.
  15. Ok lets agree to disagree on the cross-hair and the zoom etc :) What about should the easy settings be the default settings recommended by BIS ? I think this is what this is all about in the end. Should the recommended by BIS default settings be the ones currently used.   16. @DMarkwick I agree with pritty much all your saying m8. I guess for me I can just tell which way I am facing because my gun is pointing that way because I don't use TrakIR or aiming deadpoint. I can see why a visual indication of which way you are facing when using said points would be useful indeed. If said indication needs to be crosshair is another topic for debate maybe :). As for the original debate which I guess is... should the easy settings be the default settings recommended by bis. I guess that's upto BIS and how they want to portray the game. My vote would be NO they shouldn't they should promote the more simulator style game play that arma is unique for. But hey to quote you :) "However, this is all subjective I guess, which is why there are options."

  18. I kinda agree the biggest crutch is 3rd person. but I think zoom and crosshair are crutches also, just at a lesser degree. i also think the hud mag count is a crutch, shift click way points, auto sent radio subtitle chat messages from a player, etc etc.
  19. Yer your right m8 no point... No skin of my nose I don't play on servers with that crap enabled anyway so good luck to them. Hopefully ill still be playing in another 12 years :) (wow edit 13.5 years omg its been that long ?) and they will have moved on to whatever new fad they have found.
  20. @bouben nar m8 your wrong. Agreed the op puts his argument over all elitist but his basis is correct. Arma3 caters to the noob with cross-hairs and 3rd person and such. There is no need for 3rd in arma3. no argument you could offer could validate the need for 3rd person... been playing for too many years without it to actually agree its needed. Maybe for fun and for recording in youtube but any competitive game play should and can only realistically be played in 1st person, the rest is just bullshit. using a crosshair is unrealistic because there is no crosshair on your vision, that is the end of the argument. any bs you come up with about body movement is irrelevant as the crosshair does not exist in your sight. Improve awareness of gun position not add a crosshair. Yours with love and kisses. BL1P
  21. I understand where the op is coming from. Its a shame a lot of the new kids coming to play Arma3 never get passed WastelandLifeRoyal.pbo in regular mode. They miss so much of how a sim of which Arma3 is based off can be played and once they have seen they can use 3rd, crosshair, shift click, map info markers and the likes they do not see why they should play without them. I don't know what the answer is apart from maybe BIS stopping holding the hands of the new players and removing the aids for beginner difficulty settings altogether. but then would that mean I am not an elitist anymore ?.. leave it as it is then I like being an elitist wanker ! :)
