So I was playing wasteland today. (for the first time). I really liked how there was a rush to get to secondary missions where red and blue were fighting each other to get to it in time. It even got as intricate as sending team members ahead to lay ambushes while others held back to secure the objective. And all based around random convoys, downed helis, etc; all out in the middle of nowhere most times. Not sure if you're taking on feature requests like that yet, but I'd LOVE to see something similar in BE. I think they'd work well especially at boosting initial income at the beginning of games. It focuses PVP, which is always a good thing. And it may give the wastelanders and DayZers something familiar to chase when they don't know wtf is going on, rather than blindly running around before killing a few team members and logging off before a kick.

Campaign Episode 1: SURVIVE - Feedback thread ** SPOILER WARNING! **

You guys are looking at it the wrong way. Now that we've seen the mission in the campaign, we can clearly tell the campaign came first and was 'reused' for the showcase mission because of how well it works as both a graphical and small arms showcase. Going back, we can clearly see bits of the story in the showcase which solidifies that rebuttal. On the other hand, I deff agree with you on your second point. The CO of your group needs to stop and regroup when his team breaks up. ---------- Post added at 08:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:40 AM ---------- I can confirm the opposite. Front channel is always gone, even with environmental and mechanical sounds. And I'm also using an X-Fi card. What may be happening in your case is that you're actually just using Dolby SS, which only emulates it. (but does a shit ton better job of it than the current bugged 5.1 and standard 2.0) -

You didn't miss much. The PCML isn't potent enough to take it out, just disable it. As soon as it'd line up for it's decent though is when I would hit it, that way it'd still have a way to drop. Never did explode for me though. Troops were always delivered safely. -
I agree, though I'd like to see them done a little better for A3. Instead of random "camps" that didn't make any sense, I'd much rather see full checkpoints, and less of them per town. 2 per big town, 1 per medium and small. This way it gives the player vs AI aspect more focus as the checkpoint would carry the brunt of the entrenched defenses (And not necessarily all stuck on roads either). And at the same time, fits in much better than just a random 2 storey bunker placed at every inlet road. Right now, I'm essentially using FOBs as camps with a much higher build and spawn limit on them in params. I'd be willing to build some prefabs to help out if it's an idea you're interested in, Benny.

Regarding the gunship at the last mission, am I really the only one who took it out immediately after seeing it coming in for a landing every time? I had to go back and play it again just to realize it wasn't out for blood. Also keep in mind, that heli flying around is reporting your position to AI. -
Since the alpha came out, I've been pretty disappointed in the state of immersion when it comes to house interiors. Today I finally had enough time (got bored enough) to see what it takes to fix that problem, figuring I'd try my hand at starting a furniture pack. After about 45 mins, I have this: Modeled directly after the kitchen counter sitting beside my fridge. Really still don't know what I'm doing at this point. Still learning the basics and all. Just thought I'd post something to keep me motivated a bit.

My 3870 used to sit around 112-115c, and never had an issue. When it's using around a lightbulb's difference in power or less, I don't see the big deal. Sure, it's clear that the Nvidia cards are more efficient. But at the price difference that we're seeing, it doesn't matter. Most consumers will buy whatever has the best performance value when they start tossing parts in carts. And noise really isn't an issue as long as you actually apply some effort in machine design when you order your parts. I built my setup around dual 4870x2's, and hardly any noise got out then. I'm now running a 7950 with a heavily boosted fan speed (for the OC), and I literally can't hear it even while gaming. If noise is a real concern for you, you would build around that concern at the base level. If you leave it up to your video card to make the difference between sound, you care more about brand loyalty than noise. (I feel like I said a lot of the same things when Fermi was released) ---------- Post added at 05:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:05 PM ---------- Why not sell it? My old machine always finds a new home when it's time to upgrade. I even buy a cheap case to throw it in when it comes time to order parts so I can keep my current one and still sell off the old parts in one package. -

I had the same luck. Tried both map and spotting method. Ended up giving up and shooting them with bullets instead. -

Honestly, I liked it. It's the perfect showcase mission for infantry play. But despite the fact that it's nearly the same mission, it seemed to me to play quite a bit smoother and actually added context to a story that you didn't know. Not using the mission in the campaign would have been a waste. By far one of my favorite. -

For anyone having issues with the game CTDing when selecting the campaign, run CBA. When I run CBA, I can play it just fine. -

Maybe this has been discussed before, but when I use AiA, I'm missing some of the editor unit groups. Specifically, I never find any of the original Cherna civs, or consequently, any of the arma 2 civ vehicles. Is there something I'm doing wrong? -

RSF TheCapulet replied to maddogx's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Ok, so I couldn't start the campaign without mods. Loaded up JSRS, CBA, and TMR, and suddenly it worked fine. (Go figure). First BIS effort that actually kept me glued to my seat till it was done. Thankfully no bugs to report. Played flawlessly all the way through for me. Ended up playing the last mission to near completion half a dozen times. Different every single time. Personally, I like the focused campaign style as opposed to the large open ended stuff we've played before. It still retains all the fun of a Sandbox, but relieves you of babysitting duty. I can still accomplish (or help accomplish) a mission nearly any way I can think of. But it throws out the pacing issues that made previous campaigns a disappointing drain to finish. -

I really like everything about this mod except the actual gunfire. Just not enough ass behind it, even if I am supposed to be listening for the subtle differences in mechanical action. Explosions sound beautiful though. I did notice something that might be a bug though, or maybe just repeat feedback. Playing the showcase with just SoS and CBA, when mortar shells would come in, you'd hear the incoming sound and then on impact it sounds like a pillow hitting the ground, almost like there's a shockwave sound, but no explosion. Keep up the good work!

My first try at modelling
RSF TheCapulet replied to RSF TheCapulet's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
Knocked this out in a couple hours today. Setting my targets on a high-rise apartment prop-type building for the next one. Then I'll dive into getting the hang of models with more organic lines. At some point I'll start figuring out UV mapping. Probably with my first cabinet or some other furniture that I've made that's super simple. -
[WIP] bCombat infantry AI Mod [SP]
RSF TheCapulet replied to fabrizio_t's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I typically only run infantry missions and AI mods, so this sounds like exactly what I play already. I'd love to chip in with some Q/A to make a better Arma3. -

Still just practice. I still haven't even started on figuring out how to texture. And I won't even think of releasing anything until the latest tools are out. I guess the goal of this thread at this point is to just show off how easy it is to get started with the right tools. And occasional questions when I can't figure something out. -

I'd be willing to donate the time to build a website. Now all OS needs is someone to donate either the server space or money for hosting, and $10 for a domain.
