  1. Sorry for bugging again, but i'm looking at laptops and want to make sure that I get it right so that i can run system intensive games such as Arma II Combined Ops.

    How does this setup sound:

3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3612QM Processor (6MB cache, up to 3.1 GHz)

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

    8GB RAM

    AMD Radeon HD 7730M DDR3 2GB

Heres a link to the laptop itself if that helps

I cant find much info on the video card at the moment.

    I really appreciate any help.

I would recommend throwing in an SSD, but the CPU is fine, it will have no problems, the GPU will be the bottleneck, it is on par with an Nvidia 640M which is still a decent card but dont expect everything on High/Ultra. It will run smoothly with some tweaked settings on med-high I'd imagine. Here's a link to the GPU in the gaming list. You can compare it to other cards. Just search for your card: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html

  2. I see,

In that case, I am very much looking forward to the new physx features which will make driving etc much more fun

  3. SpamJabber: the choice of components depends on your budget. So what's your limit?

I don't want to spend more than $1500 AUD, obviously probably including 2nd gen processor with the best possible GPU within budget. And throw in an SSD and I reckon it'll be ok. BTW I would like it in a 15.6" chasis

EDIT: Is it worth getting the 7970 in the laptop over the GTX 670? It normally pushed the price closer to

What do you guys think of this: http://www.logicalblueone.com.au/store/523-horize-w110er-notebook-pc-gaming-ultra-portable-clevo.html as it is very portable it helps with the moving around

  4. Hi all,

I am just wondering if anyone could offer some advice in terms of getting a rig for arma2.

I am currently in Sydney but I am only in Oz for about another 7months or so. Anyway I really want to get back to playing arma and my current dm1 will not even get close to running this thing.

I am quite capable of picking the components etc but I need some help from Australian players who could refer me to the best sites to get a laptop for this. Originally from the UK so I was used to having a lot of sites available. In Australia I am not sure what sites are the best to buy from for Customer Support/Value

Thanks for anyone who can help point out where to buy from and any recommendations on machines would be fine too.

  5. Hey guys, started building my own machinima videos. I am still learning and with a bit of practise I'm sure they will im prove a bit. Heres my latest video though. Hope you enjoy :)

EDIT: Don't know how to embed this properly so theres a link

  6. I voted no

I do enjoy having games on steam, however I don't want to be forced into having to use it. As many others have mentioned there are issues with the steam version, and what were to happen if the steam engine crashed making the game unplayable. Unlikely I know but it could happen.

I think they should just give people the option like they're doing at the minute. Seems to work fine to me.

  7. Hi everyone,

I am a fresh member of the community here, I thought I'd join up as I am an active player online. Like many others have posted I've been playing since flashpoint and thoroughly enjoy the ArmA series.

I am looking to get involved with a group of players online as I am playing by myself and it's just not the same. I am from Ireland currently living in the UK while in my final year at univeersity. Currently my dissertation and other assignments eat my life away! but I do play in the evenings when I can. Once university is done I'll have more time to play.

Would really love to get in with mature players for realistic coop missions and more (i like to have fun too :)). If anyone is recruiting with that sort of play in mind, drop me a PM.

    Thanks in advance,
