    If I'm not mistaken, Dynamic means that it will go up the more you die. IIRC. Also: The Status of Survival As you all may/may not know, Survival utilizes a lot of in-house scripts, and some third-party scripts (INS Revive, R3F, are some immediate examples). Dominic and myself had planned for a big release today, of V0.54 (V0.53 was pretty much a completely internal build). V0.54 was going to bring some amazing things, which I could say because they're all complete, but I believe we still want to keep the surprise. However, the grim news is, with Beta 0.74 Stable of ArmA 3, Survival no longer functions right. This patch has brought a new system about how it handles "Undefined Variables", and thusly, it's considering a lot of things Undefined when they aren't, and a lot of the scripts are suffering for it. This brings me great misery, as this release was going to blow everyone's mind with the amount of content that's getting added. Anyone who's read my post in the Troubleshooting section might think I'm just trying to flame or troll this new script system. Quite the contrary, informative error messages are the first weapon in the war of debugging. But when the system that's supposed to tell you what's wrong is what is actually wrong with the script, then my friends, I have a problem. In summary, this is to let you all know, those who are still faithful or eager players of Survival, that it is NOT dead. It is NOT abandoned. We had been working in silence to drop this release like a bomb. Though the bomb was dropped on us by this patch. Regardless, Dominic and I will see if we can't salvage the remains of Survival and craft some sort of temporary Frankenstein release. I truly hope with all my heart that this new system just goes and dies in a hole where it belongs, but that's my personal bias and preference towards it, as it has done nothing but harm to my personal missions, as well as my work on Survival. Anyways, on topic, don't give up hope. Dominic and I love working on this, and we're not sick of it yet.   3. Well, my problem with the camera was I forgot the age old "Internal", "Back" camera effect array. As for objNull, I was actually using objNul, because ArmA likes to swap between "nul" or "null" quite often, and my variables that I thought were getting assigned to ObjNull, were instead getting assigned to an unassigned variable of objNul. And it just never gave me an error before this new system because they've revamped its catch methods. Though strange bugs still occur in like my Magazine Script. Where now if a player had a non-GL rifle, they'd get an undefined variable error _GLMuzzle, which used to just turn out as an empty string before the new system. I've since rewrote it and got it working error free. It'll be a busy few weeks I feel finding all the quirks I never knew were quirks. So they were right to an extent, it is forcing out better scripts and an understanding thereof, instead of having certain things be working in a smoke and mirrors sense of the word. Your scripts and use of objNull should be just fine. I just went in and corrected my longstanding error of that too, and I can't even blame that one tiredness. Just inconsistent use of nul and null, and confusing it in my head. Oddly enough, I can see this system being super helpful, and as for knowing what is an undefined var, the system just got smarter I suppose. So all those times I thought I was doing it right, I was just limping by on broken stilts. Just an update, looks like my head wasn't totally up my ass. This new script system has broken just about every aspect and script in Survival V0.53 and V0.54 (A popular mission by Dominic (Genesis92x) and myself). We were going to release .54 today with a complete overhaul, but being that, well, I wasn't entirely wrong, and my wishful thinking of me just being dumbass was too good to be true, we can't. Think that's where I'll call it a day.
  4. I guess that's the mystery that is the SQS/SQF language friend. Appreciate your time out to help again, and your patience, sometimes I get rascally when I'm tired. And I'd rather take a few missing quotes and the humbling hit to the ego than some of the nightmares I can only imagine either of us have gone through. Script Command inconsistency, locality, been there done that. And then there's those little things, the things that never get explained, and work one day and not the next (Not referring to this problem, as it was an actual mistake). But I've seen many a script shot down in flames to the unforgiving, unexplained errors. I regress though, thanks again, and have a wonderful almost-weekend sir.
  5. So to sum this all up than keep that wall of text I had going before: I made a simple mistake due to being over-tired. I admit my defeat there. I guess the system I used before is the system BI is trying to weed out of scripting, fair enough. I'll keep my words at this, rather than say something I might regret. Thanks for the help Zapat, you helped my tired eyes see the error. Though I'd of preferred the old system to have stayed. In retrospect though, this really just means I need to spam a lot of quotes into otherwise solid scripts for certain things (My vehicle spawning script uses Objnull a lot). That isn't anything strenuous. Perhaps I was too presumptuous and quick to the point the finger, when sometimes one needs to look in the mirror first. Apologize for wasting the bandwidth on this silly problem. And your time Zapat.

See, I've tried that zapat, but then all the following _camera commands, like say: Return an "Error Type String, Expected Object, Array" Not to mention I've been using that same line for a long time and never had any of these woes until just this morning. Also, wasn't trying to sound like an ass with that initial sentence, I'm not really frustrated as all, just boggled. And I should've made my first post clearer on other things I'd tried. And again, all this code had worked flawless and error free just before the patch.

    Howdy ho neighbors! Good news for all players who are just few dollars short of a shiny new gun or vehicle, with no way for your team mates to help out. The Money Transfer! A little overdue, but fashionably late, we feel that this addition has a big enough impact to warrant a version change. Here's the Feature List for V0.51. It is small, but it has spunk: Version 0.51: Feature List: - Money Transfer - It’s here at last! After a solid night’s run of work, the ability to Transfer funds between each other is here! This will add much needed freedom and room to breathe to the current Economy system, enabling players to help one another out, strike deals, trade, and anything else within your imagination. - ES AI System - ES uses a custom AI system, which has been crafted from the ground up by Dominic. ES AI has recently been revamped, while this change was actually pushed out as a revision to V0.50, it is getting documented here. Also, being the perfectionist he is, this System will always be seeing optimizations and changes. And for bug fixes: - Buy Equipment script had no check of the player's current available space. Fixed, and now notifies players if they don't have enough room to buy the current item. - UAV Recon Button in the Settings Dialog was non-functional. Now working, and action removed from actionmenu.     For the life of me, I can't find a fix for this bug. Without the Addon, on Manual Fire, when cycling weapons, Internal Bays do open/close properly. But something about having the pilot start with and have control of the weapons that are supposed to open/close them is not working. Or I'm being a moron. Regardless, I'll look at it through the days if I think of something, but right now, I'm stumped. The best I can do is add it to the Known Issue list, and keep trying to figure it out. Who knows, maybe someone else will figure it out before I do. Until then, I guess pretend they open? Sorry guys, I'm trying.

    I appreciate your input, but I prefer to release things in my own manner, and if others don't like that then they can simply move along. I feel the title accurately describes what this is. And what it is, is a step away from "realism". As for my lengthy statement, as I said, no one has to read it. But, and maybe this is just because I've seen the darker sides of this community from afar for too long, I felt it would be best to properly inform not only veterans of the series, but newcomers as well as to what they're getting into. Kind of, covering the bases if you will. But, to each his own I suppose, thanks for the support. In retrospect however, I cannot argue with you about the title too much. I do have regrets about it, as I felt it may have been taken as an "off the deep end" rather than a "step away" kind of magnitude. So your points are very valid. I guess I just prefer to do things a certain way, consequences be damned sometimes. More on topic and to the point, as for that bug found earlier, I can see it isn't going to be an easy fix. I do intend on fixing it, as I can't believe I missed the absolute immersion killer that is firing missiles out thin air. I'll just need my friend to get home from his vacation so I can have two sets of eyes on the job. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

    Interesting catch Sahloknir! I'm glad you're enjoying it, and as for that bug. Herm. I'll have to take a gander at the config, and see what I can do. I have a feeling that with BI implementing a lot more moving parts, it could be an easy fix. Flipside, it could be a nightmare. I just need to make it recognize that it no longer needs a gunner for those to be deployed. Good eye, and I'll get back to you with what I come up with.

    I appreciate all the support and kind words. And I figured as much that ACE might have done that way, but even so, one could of gone to say: "Oh they copied BF2 (Cobra's were 2 Seaters with FFARs by Pilot and Cannon/TV missiles by Gunner).". But anyways, I digress, you're all right. That this is optional, and that was the point I was trying to maintain. I'm all for criticism, and I'm all for opinions, but then there's "This sucks" or "Yadayada Realism". I've been playing since ArmA 1, I wish I could say I am an OFP Vet, but I'm not. I love the realism and all, but sometimes, it's nice to take a step back, realize it's a game, and get a little convenience sake out of it. Realism doesn't always mean things have to be difficult. I bet it's a helluva lot easier for Gunship crews to communicate and coordinate in the real thing (Under fire or not) than it is over VOIP. There's no latency in real life, friends. But I'm done covering that debate, again, I thank you all for the support, it's nice to know the majority is cool with it, even if they don't agree with it (Which is 100% fine). As I stated in the A3B Support thread, I try to check these daily in case of bugs/requests, so if anyone has issues, let me know and I'll try to fix them. Other than that, Happy 4th of July to all my US friends, and happy almost weekend to all the others out there.

    Thank you very much Foxhound. I find it hilarious that ACE did it, and people don't say ACE is unrealistic. Put Arcade in the title, because I guess I use the word lightly, and all hell breaks loose. If this thread just becomes a flame fest then might as well close it. It's up to the moderators on that one in the end, but I won't shed a tear if it means all the, ahem, realism aficionados have one less reason to be upset. And I certainly don't want to create a breeding ground for it either. A little back on topic: A3B Helicopters & MP - So this is the way it works right now: If you make a mission with this Addon enabled, and put down one of the three current Beta Gunships in the editor (AH-99 Blackfoot, Mi-48 Kajman (Normal & Black)), then all players will require the Addon. Alternatively, if you spawn the helicopters in by any other means, and you are the running the Addon, then the Helicopters will work as described, and others who fly them will see them with no Mags for the pilots slot. This also means on most Dedicated Servers, the choppers you fly, if they are in the mission at the start, will be default. But if you are the one spawning them in (A buy script for example), they will be the tweaked version. It's a very strange affair of client side/server side locality. Needless to say, if you want to make a mission, but do NOT want others to have to have the addon, disable it while you make it. Then host it when it's completed with the Addon enabled/disabled. I'll still try to help others with understanding all this locality business if they need it. Until next time.

    Manual Fire does not provide lock capabilities for a pilot there cutiepie. Better luck next time. Also, that would make the gunner useless, and completely miss the whole point of this Addon. Next time, please try to construct your argument in a more, I don't know, sensible manner. Oh, and read the Readme.

    Version 0.50 will drop after this weekend as more bugs are fixed and content is implemented. Shops have seen a major overhaul (Screenshot), and hopefully soon the Player HUD will get one as well. We've got a lot planned, so make sure you to keep an eye out on the coming release. Dominic has worked very hard on improving the play experience and challenge, and let me say that it is nearing bliss.

    It also means that sometimes, in ArmA's cuteness GMJaken, you might have to scroll through your Action Menu and look for the appropriate action for it to do it's job. Though this is a minor occurrence and ArmA does it to let you know it loves you! But, they should work alright, and I'm going to release the textures today for those who want to use them as a script-only addition. Hope you all enjoy!
