    Control Platforms

    Hi all I would like to show you guys what I have been up to over the last 4 months, as unfortunately real life had to take over my modding time. In the last four months I designed a control platform to take my flight controls and driving controls for mostly Arma3 as that's 99% what I play plus a bit of DCS and Grid and Dirt, I have never been happy with any pc desk I have owned as there designed for work and not play. so I thought i'll make my own that is functional comfortable and quality built with being nice looking. I sat and sketched out a drawing and sorted the measurements for the unit, then I built the 3d model in oxygen 2 of all things, I then moved it over to substance painter and textured it once I had all I needed on to the next step the build. I ordered the metal tube and materials for the control platforms, I cut out the MDF for the platforms and then got it covered by a friend who does upholstery, I got it in a nice black faux leatherette covering, the metal went to another friend to be welded and came back looking solid this won't fall apart like all the others I have had. Next up it was off to the paint shop where my brother in law powder coated it in a leather effect finish which is near scratch proof and together with the platform it looks great, once I got it all together which took less than 7 minutes to erect from parts I was very impressed with it, I got my controls placed and done some cable management and wow it looks stunning I ran a little event in my house for my friends and family to come test it and get the best lap time, which got me some good feed back and some fun in the process watching every one crash out till they got the hang of the G27 on dirt and grid. I would like some feed back from you guys as I am looking at getting them mass produced thx for reading and any feed back. [/img]

    Control Platforms

    Little update to what we are doing, the platforms are still coming on we are being held up by firms negotiating prices and out sourcing work, so they will still be produced but until we have shaken hands and got the final price we are waiting, we have added to the designs and will have images and prices for the modular components to add to the platform soon. We received the Delta six motion control last week and have been doing some heavy tests in combination with the kinect in ARMA3 and ARMA2\OA, this means I can now use the Kinect to track and use my body for movements which move my A3 avatar in game, and with the Delta six in your hands you can aim and shoot while still being accurate enough to get head shots with it, leaving you free from the keyboard and mouse any addition key binds I am setting through speech recognition. The Delta six really changes the game for me now with the kinect, I set up a 42inch led tv with 3200 x 1800 res and got to work taking down enemy's with ease, it really does give more immersion like this to the point I was ducking for cover and running for concealment as the rounds rained down all around me with the lean set up and the recoil from the six it felt immense that I did not want to lean out behind the wall in case they got a head shot. next step full VR once we get the dev kits available.

    JBAD Release Thread

    Hi all thought we better fill you guys in on whats been going on on jbad as we have been quiet for a few months, M1lk has been busy porting and polishing more structures with a few extras as always with this guy his work is impeccable it's a pleasure to work with him, Steve has started placing objects down in the green zone and the airport is starting to come on i don't envy steve he asked for both the bigger green zones mad bastard hope it don't break him. I have been tied up for a few months but now have had some time free so I started smashing out the veg and rocks for the mountains and valley's, I have also started to fill the green zone this is a long process as there is so much terrain to fill but is well on its way I have a good 15km x 15km section that is in testing as we have split the terrain into four pieces to make the build easy and man is this first valley tough to climb think lone sniper shit and thats what we got large rock slides slopping and slipping all the wall down the valleys making it a real hard terrain to fight on not knowing where the enemy are firing from, Sangin was scary for under fire but just wait for jbad ass to be completed this will break you lol. Once I have the net back on my main rig ill upload all videos and images that have been taken in the last few months next week some time cheers all Testing is going well with all the features we are packing into models, the terrain feels more real now we have more interaction and destruction with the new added features soon to be added is exploding rocks so passes can be cleared from rock falls we still got this going on growing and growing stick with it lads jbad will be the ultimate terrain to fight on
  9. There was a release date, and BIS report this date to months later cause they want to see some entries happens that were normally disqualified by rules. It s not a secret, there is official mail about that. ill clear this one up over 50 entries had trouble uploading content after entering, so we received an email from bis after the comp had stopped taking entries, they asked us to resubmit our work as they new it was a shit state and they had lost out on a lot of content, ill tell you my experience with manw i signed up and wanted to add all my stuff to the entry form as in logo video and such but in the time i made the vid and logo i went to re-login on the site and it would not let me back in it would not let me submit another entry which the rules did say you could enter as many as you wanted, so i thought bollocks to it and the previous updates to the tools and the lack of fixes to the tools and game broke all of the terrains. Also the walls that we had made to be blown up got messed up so it kind of pissed me off and i have had a 6 month break from modding to take stock on even bothering to finish any of what has been broke as 4 years of hard work is broke 8 terrains in total plus hundreds of street furniture addons for the terrains. There should of been a section for terrains, and to have had a lot more time to build them to factor the tools fiasco we have on a daily basis we only got told we could enter a terrain months after the comp was announced at first they were not to be entered put a lot of guys off.

    cheers guys I have used the leatherette one for over 3 months with 5 people in my house and one a 3 year old that likes to place every thing on it from food to drinks and a range of objects, it has survived well it wipes down nice and if looked after like any other product will last it does mark if hot drinks are placed on it but with any product like this you would never place it on the bare surface just use a cosaster, I have a carbon fibre vinyl one as well that is more tolerant to abuse and can have drinks placed with out marks. The mdf was easy for me to form and later on maybe we will get conti board produced with our carbon look applied to it to save wrapping as it cost £100 to skin them in carbon and vinyl but they are done to a quality standard, we can 2 pac and seal the tops to make it so you would never know that it is wood and then we can wetspray the top and coat it to a nice finish, so we have options to choose from from leather to vinyl to a 2 pac seal and wetspray coat. you tell us what colour style effect, it may cost more but the value is there in the price for having freedom to choose what you want rather then mass produce one model in one colour with one paint effect. For the cheaper option you would go for the floating platform I plan to sell them at £300-350 as the frame is replaced with a system for mounting to the wall so more leg room less metal and has slide out platforms so saves space and looks cool.

    Hi Tonic this was the first prototype, rubber feet will be added I am toying with rubber or adjustable feet more leaning to adjustable, the plan is to have a few models a I have a floating version so far and the fixed frame as above and want to have a fully adjustable modular version and finally an interactive version with ir rc switches to turn pc and lights and then move the actuators to push out the platforms from below the main platform. The bolts will be changed to anodized black ones in the future. so far the prototype has cost me £450 that's what I plan to sell them around £400-450 so i am in talks with a few firms waiting to get quotes back for bulk orders the thing with these are they are hand crafted and welded and sprayed by real humans no machines so that is where I am a bit different, I will offer full customization for paint and effect, coverings vinyl or pvc, or even wet spray and airbrush design. I have some module addons to complete the platform if you want laser cut designs added to a back plate or perforated metal with a design on it is all good if you want to adapt my design to suit your needs it can be done custom building can be expensive as its always the first one that costs to set it up but once its done the rest come cheap after that.

    I'm all for rewarding modders, but I just don't see it working. The only thing I can see working is BIS buying the content from the modder and integrating it into the next major expansion pack. It did not work for iron front from your way of doing it that's why iron front had no life in it vetted mods for upload

    since steam has made 570 million for user made content I think bi will not pass that up for a cut of our mods for sale, bet they will take 50% steam 20% we get 30% minus 20% tax might just make enough to put a tenner on the electric meter , you may not like it but why do you assume all mods will be for sale if you feel you want to give back by giving a way free addons do it but don't tell me i can't charge if i want to, i put 4 years in on my terrains if i want to get a little something back that's my right too, buy it or don't is yours but at least let me have the same right as a server host who uses my free addons and makes large cash of them to let me have the same right to earn of my own shit ---------- Post added at 09:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:13 AM ---------- I say the above from the hints that have been coming of the skype channels from dwarden about the above regarding steam user made content generation and as a business stand point makes damn good sense they can not match us in quantity of addons they will have dlc here and there we deliver day in day out mods addons and if they can make 50% of all our addons or the guys that want to sell addons then that is free money to bis

Hi all I thought it was about time I posted some screens and news on this terrain that I have been working on this is a small but highly detailed terrain at 2km x 2km it has around 200 models on it that are new to the game, thanks Rhaggen for your help on the models and local knowledge.     13€ DLC, hefty price for 2 choppers

    2 Million copy's of dayz = £40 million at £20 also arma3 has over a million sales at just £20 another 20 million so that's about 60 million pounds, and not every one got the £20 alpha price some bought the supporter edition so could be even more, so i think we have chipped in some for the features that should be there and hope to have more in the future like towing should be, ill buy it like i always do with the dlc even if i don't use it like the pmc and acr and tkoh i have but i don't like it. This quality over quantity is taking a step to far, break the a2 dlc down baf small collection of vehicles and units same for acr and pmc compare the package to the a2 ones and a2 dlc offer more for less so these models best look the business if all were paying for is quality same for bug free as the quantity went out the window 2 years ago.

    makes the game feel tons better running all the tkoh content in a3 with aia makes mission so much more realistic with all the vehicles air and wheeled put round altis feels not so abandoned

    WIP Bovington

    Hi all had to take a break from Sangin, so I jumped on Bovington to bring it up to scratch for A3 this is a drivers wet dream of a terrain. High ground detail has been added now Bovington sits at 2.5 meters cell which gives me more control to rough the ground up and really carve it up into a true vehicle proving ground drive it till you break it, new rocks and other objects have been added to make it a true driving terrain from the rock climb to suspension tests in the test area this terrain should prove very challenging to any driver of different skill levels wheel and pedals recommended. The proving ground has 4 test tracks to chose from rolling hills and lanes to the step and rocky trails to navigate, fording in water "yes i said it water" but only good for vehicles Terrain will be stand alone and will only need a small object pack to use no a3mp or aia will be needed M1lkm8n and me are going under Tactical Geographic and our new terrains will be released under Tactical Battlefield Environments Packs we our also working with our partners Ketsucorp if you like what we do support and promote us any way you can cheers

    yes you did see pond water its not sea as there is no shore foam and it works ok for vehicles, its useless for swimming but being a vehicle terrain it will do nice for what i need fording and puddles just need to switch to the brown dirt water now.

I have been trying for over 6 months now to get some working pond\river tiles i have a few prototypes but they look the part and don't freak ai out, but its not true water you can swim in ai will lay down and shoot from the river bed, also it seems the wet suit allows you to swim through pond tiles in a3 after someone posted a demo of it on yt.

Got to agree A3 stock terrains has got boring and old already, if no more terrains got ported or made for A3 how long would those 2 stock maps last before it gets too boring to play them anymore. So yes its a must to get this sorted for future lifespan of the game out of all the addons terrains is what keeps you coming back as it changes the whole game a new terrain atmosphere environment, and to have so many f*****g hours down on my arma2 terrains seems like a bit of a f**k you from bis from my point not being able to forward port with no issues. BIS the community terrains are the life blood of your game you give us the 2 fingers to the guys that keep you earning and keep the game always evolving and being interesting. Come on would be nice to get an answer before we move to another engine i don't have the patience to wait years for fixes. kind of gets depressing having tools that don't work and being left with them broke that constantly breaks your shit every update it should all be user friendly and easy to use not a pita, were expected to enter the comp with tools that refuse to pack terrains ffs sorry but its got to be said
