    I will stay with A2 for a while, of course it all depends on how well A3 performs, whether or not I get a new comp (currently 2.1g single core for A2), and most important, if my clan mates move on. I hated leaving A1 because the missions I made for some of it could not be converted for A2. I would hate to lose all the work I put into my A2 missions and have to start over...again. :(

    If you are using a shortcut on your desktop to start the game the target line may be to long to fit in its limited space. This may keep your game from loading all of the mods. You may have to use Six updater, armalauncher or a batch file to start the game to make sure everything is being loaded.

    Muerte LOL has a point. There is always something to be fixed. But then I know Muertr LOL is aware of ALL the coding that goes into and program much less a simulation of ArmA 2's type. And since he know's this I'm sure he relises just how easy it is to miss certain code or debug millions of line of code (even with tools) and make it ALL come together so we can enjoy our little battles in cyber space.

    And I'm sure he relises that the new trend in games such as BF2 & BF3 is NOT to allow modding by the community (unlike BIS at this time). So WE should be so judgmental. Muerte LOL has a valid point.

    Yes I am very aware of these things and the Arma series is a very big undertaking for anyone. Thanks for the support. I did not want to seem ungrateful for the game. Hell I played arma 1 faithfully while it was bad mouthed by most. I am a very avid Arma 2 player even on my single core 2.1g processor. I do doubt that anyone plays Arma 2 vanilla, without the great modifications like ACE, GDT or stmovement etc, which was kind of the point I was trying to get across. People should turn off the grasscutters, anti glare, and weapon site mods to see where I was trying to come from, in case they have forgotten. I only play Arma and sometimes for nostalgia OFP, I have no other games installed. But no big deal, everyone has an opinion and sometimes things come across in ways we don't intend and there is no take it back button in forums, or life.

    Ok maybe I'm a bit off base and my appologies if I seem ungrateful for what they do. I did vote for I will wait and see. But for some of the previous purchases you have to admit the games seemed a bit unfinished.

    Please forgive me for my laspe of reason, I'm really not the ass I may have made myself out to be. :)

    I am curious how long after they make arma3 will they be trying to sell us Arma4? I mean they already have the community making their games better and at really no cost to them. So how long after they finish arma3 are they going to get people interested in the new latest and greatest version Arma 4? Sorry I'm still a little peeved over Arma 1 and the money I spent on that just to have to go and buy Arma 2 to get what I should have got with Arma1. I think this is going to be the same, they keep making them over and over and we keep coming along for the big ride. They have not even fixed the vehicles in Arma 2 yet but they are putting out the newest version for us all to buy. But then I guess they don't make money on fixing the crap we have already payed for, quantity over quality is what people want I guess. Hey BIS if you really care about your community why not let us have credits for what we have already bought? You should be able to make a way to check our game IDs like during install that enables us to receive 10% off for each version of copy of Arma we bought previously...I have 3.

    A good thing to do once you have you game set up and key bindings redone in your other profile is to copy the whole folder to a safe location in case you have to reinstall for some reason. Has saved my butt a few times after a reinstall. After you are done with your reinstall and everything is patched up create a new profile with the name you used before then shut the game down and overwrite the one you just created with the back up and you will be ready to go. XML, key bindings and custom face are all as they were and it saves you lots of time.

    I don't know if you actually have to make the "other profile" first (before copying your backup), I always do though just to make sure the game is looking for one.

    I can't join a clan (several reasons) so I play in public servers. Not the greatest but still better than any other game.

    But tell me if this is uncalled for. I'm up for a little domination ... 30 people in the server. We're attacking a village. I see an enemy vehicle drive by in front of me so I take out the driver. turns out i just TK and the guy goes off on me ...

    Does anyone get into enemy vehicles without announcing it while a firefight is taking place, especially when the town hasn't been taken over yet and reinforcements are showing up? Just stupid in my opinion.

    I check uniforms. I don't TK. But I think this was uncalled for. Tell me if I am wrong.

    One of the most important things to remember when you TK someone is to at least say you are sorry (In white chat if possible). After that not much more can be done. As long as you are not doing it all the time, the sorry should be accepted and people move on. If they don't accept it and rant and rave at you, take the higher road, apologize again and let it go. Refuse to get into an argument with them. If the game/server admin is worth their salt they will step up and tell the ranter that an apology was made and to let it go. Tks happen all the time in these types of games and if people can't deal with it in a mature fashion then they should go watch cartoons, or go take a nap because their mom or dad has let them stay up too late ;). But the way it is allowed to be handled should fall on the server admin or a clan member if it is on a clan server. If the admin or clan members fail to keep control of the situation then maybe it is best to find another server.

    Other: unit placement, finding that right spot where the enemy has the angle on you, making sure it doesn't stick through a wall or fall off and at the same time trying to make sure that it is a realistic position for the situation.

    Scripts (finding them) would be second for me, once found and saved somewhere there is not much to it, thank god for copy and paste ;).

    Testing not so much, when you have triggers that work copy them from your other missions and alter them as needed. Set captive radio command makes short work of most of it. Changing the size of or moving detection triggers is easy enough to see if they fire or not then just resize them back or move them back into place.

    Definatley get Arma2 Combined Ops, you will get the best of both Arma2, and OA.

    At the same time You can play with mods for Arma2 and OA with Arma2CO.

    Get the DVD or Download stay away from Steam just a suggestion.

    I personally think theres no other game like Arma2CO well the series TBH, other then Oblivion with its

    massive modding community, theres to much to do in the game to be dissapointed, I really dont see the point of playing anything else,

    the community here is huge, and been around since 2001, its only going to get better with Arma3 on the way next year!

    Any other questions ask, alot of helpful folks around here.

    I could not agree more, been playing Arma series since it came out and started playing ofp in 2002. I play nothing else, nothing else compares. I played all of the rainbow six stuff, rogue spear, bf series (first few) and a few others. There is nothing that compares to the tactics, open playing area, AI in anything else I have tried, I have no interest in anything else. With OFP and Arma you don't need anything else, unless you like packman ;)

    Sorry about this little plug but it might help some of you find what you might be looking for.

    If you like layed back coop missions, friendly helpful people please come and join us on LOL Majors. We use ts3 but it is not necessary. We have Six Updater supported mods or a mod download section on our website that will have you gaming with us in no time. We have a world wide membership so we have games going for EU and US times. We have been an established clan for almost 10 years. We are mostly players at age 40 or over. We don't have crosshairs, we don't have respawn. We accept noobs and try to teach them the game but we don't allow noobish players. Learn from your mistakes and mind you manners or you will have no problems. Foul language ok (we are adults) racist comments or abusive behavior not allowed. We don't do CTI, CTF or that other instant gratification stuff, we play 1 life coop.

    So if you are looking for a fun mature game that is not too strict check us out. All the info you need can be found at www.nakedsquid.com.

    Thanks for the plug time sorry if I offended anyone with it but I think some of you that are not satisfied with what you are finding out there might be looking for what we provide.

    PS. if our server shows yellow connect anyway and see what you need, you may need nothing at all.

    Maybe they just reconnect to see what the error message again so they can go look for the needed addons. But then again maybe they are just stupid. One thing I have found after many years of OFP and Arma is that even if you make it idiot proof people will still surprise you. So it's best to not lose too much sleep over it and realize it is just the nature of the beast.

    Im running an old asus 2.1 g single core with 2g memory, NV 9800GTX +oc, with onboard sound and my game runs pretty well with the exception missions that have loads and I mean loads of stuff in them. Most of the time gameplay is pretty smooth. One thing to remember when setting up your game, for optimal FPS and video performance set your video card resolution to the "natural" resolution for your monitor, you would not believe how much straying from that resolution even a little can change your games performance.

    I have never really had good luck with ATI video cards for gaming, Nvidia seems to be geared towards gaming as where ATI for office or photo work. Same as AMD is for gaming and Pentium is better for office or photo work. JMO.

    You are welcome to join us on LOL Majors, we are pretty noob friendly and can help you get set up. For information on the islands and addons you need check our website: www.nakedsquid.com. We have a very simple to use, step by step tutorial for setting up Six Updater to download the addons needed for our server. You will also find information for our Teamspeak 3 server where you can usually find some friendly clown to help walk you through the set up process (we are a clan of clowns, so it has to be fun..right?). Be warned we do play in vet mode, no respawn, no crosshairs but are very patient and helpful with new players. Hope to see you. Good luck.

    We are a long lived gaming clan that still runs a COOP OFP server (COW-Clowns Of War). We also run an Arma 2 OA server (LOL Majors). Both servers run in vet mode, no respawn, no crosshairs, no muppets.

    We don't take the game too serious but we do like good cooperative. We make our own missions and use a lot of player made missions from other clans (some of which we do have to edit to make compatable with our server..quality counts even to a clown.

    We now also support Six Updater downloading so you will have all the addons you need quickly and easily (filter LOL or Majors and it will come up).

    We also have a TS3 server if you have any questions (Clowns and Comrades) 87.106.201.76:9987. PW=lol

    Don't be shy come on in and join us for some gaming. There are always plenty of friendly people to help you get set up and playing. We are not the most serious clan so we think we provide a great opportunity for those that just like to have fun gaming without all the tight@$$ leaders barking orders all the time or threatening to ban you if you are not exactly as they want you.

    We also host a lot of Kyllikki missions on our LOL server, great missions and loads of fun. We do make our own missions also, hopefully we can post some up here also for everyones enjoyment.

    To the folks @ Kyllikki, from OFP to Arma 2 OA, thanks for the many countless hours of entertainment.
