  1. Can you upload this to the Steam Workshop? Or may I on your behalf? This is a great app, very easy to use. Very simple and uncomplicated. Thank you.

    Blackfoot/Comanche Pilot Position Incorrect

"It seems the Comanche is also missing its ability to fly sideways." I'm going to have to check this out. It doesn't seem like this would be difficult unless you're using keyboard keys for the tail rotor controls. But, with an axis input for the tail rotor...this should be definitely possible. Interesting.

    Map limits for A3?

The FSX world map is indeed (except for major cities and road networks) very general. But, the map itself has base line generation for each landscape style and trees according regions(or sat image analyzer data), already. Really you would just need a program to do the "one for one" swap as I posted above and then auto-generate random background stuff like rocks, deerstands and things that don't exist at a flight sim level of detail. It really could be done if both Microsoft and BI shook hands on it. But, who am I kidding...Microsoft is the roadblock on that one.

    Map limits for A3?

Other than computing power arguments...I'm not sure why anyone wouldnt want larger maps. Heck if there was a way to use the Microsoft FSX world map, in Arma 2 or 3...imagine the possibilites, virtual war in any location. The FSX world map has about 10x less resolution than the actual NASA mapping it was generated from. It's probably 5x less resolution than BI maps...but still, as long as there was a program for replacing models... fsx tree for BI tree, fsx house for BI house, road for road, gas station for gas station, etc etc...that would be awesome!
  7. I've always felt that the "Watch here" command was a great and necessary feature, but that you should be able to set of sectors of fire from your map as well. I'm not versed on how to make a add-on like this. But, the idea is pretty simple... Each team member won't just have an arrow denoting which direction they are facing, but they have a slightly transparent arc that shows their sector of fire. While your team members are stationary a mouse grab-able dot will appear at the outer edge of the arc. You can grab it and set up a dynamic defensive perimeter faster by dragging it left and right. If you pull it away from the character, the arc will narrow. If you, pull it closer, it widens the sectors of fire. Once they move under command, the sector of fire dot is removed and control returns to the AI. Here's a quick render of the idea in picture format. If this is the wrong area to post...I apologize in advance.

    Aliens: Colonial Marines (At Last!)

Aliens Colonial Marines is an alright game in its own right. However, it still suffers from serious Xeno AI issues. If anyone has ever played AVP (circa 2010), I think they nailed the Xeno behavior. They tended to slowly stalk you, in the shadows and behind objects, as long as you aren’t shooting at them or have your flashlight aimed at them. Once you triggered the fact that you are aware of them....they pounced, dodged or ran full tilt to get you. It really amped up the mood when you couldn’t see them and your motion tracker was going nuts. Fix the Xeno AI and 50% of the problem is fixed. All animations need some polish too. I played through the entire game and then re-watched the demo videos from a year ago. The shame is, it was only then that I realized how heartbreaking the final product really was compared to the promised version. Gearbox and Pitchfords credibility has severly been damaged over that simple fact.

Arma 3 is not going far enough with Technology

You are correct that tech invention needs cash flow. Those think tanks though are civilian just as the development corporations who make the tech. The last two U.S. military vehicles that were really the "cream of the crop" for choices to add into the military arsenal were the M1 Abrams and the AH-64 Apache. Today the only thing that keeps them from being completely dated is constant component upgrades. Almost everything else after has been a mixture of compromises because of budget and operational tempo considerations. It doesn't matter how high tech things can be in the future. The smaller the conflicts become (more guerilla like), the less likely we are to be upgraded. Especially since hi-tech is not always the best way to fight a low-tech guerilla war. Like it or not (and I don't like it) our tax payers only see current threats, what's right in front of them. Even General Ordierno said he see's large scale conflicts in the future as unlikely. Now, I find that a disturbing statement considering we should be prepared for any realistic threat. Not to mention, it's the enemy who choose the type of conflict not us. We are always re-active. The reality is that ARMA3 is probably accurate for tech. If ARMA3 off on anything it might be that American military in the near future won't have the political backing or funding to continue operations that are orientated towards policing actions. All recent U.S. policing actions in the last 45 years have continued to cause great losses of money, life and very rarely actually yielded an outcome that is tangible because there was never a task and purpose for those wars. Real wars should be quick deadly and decisive.

Absolutely true. Better interest in Arma3 than no interest. P.S. A Drill Sergeant badge...you joined the Dark side. Shame!

    Satellite view (SATCOM)

@ Chicago First I'd like to say... I love your SATCOM mod. I use it all the time. Very fluid and stable...its what makes a great MOD. I have a quick idea for you that would add an even more immersive feel. Simply put...can you change the angle of the camera/satellite angle to emulate the satellite moving over head? Just an idea. Thanks for your time and take care.

ArmA, view distance and the curvature of Earth

I'm not sure why earth curvature in Arma is considered so PC shattering. Doesnt VBS have earth curvature? I can tell you that the computers the U.S. Army uses are far less powerful than your average home PC. With that being said, they all run at a functional level of playability or the Army wouldnt use them to train soldiers.

    My Review and thoughts

BIS, I think that Carrier Command is a strong game. But it can be stronger. I like it and love the fact that it is respectful to the original as it is. I would like to see the island chain become open world and not seperated by loads. I would also love to see the view distance be trippled or quadrupled if the open world chain ever comes into fruition. Thanks for the great game. In my humble opinion BI leads the way in "against the mindless flow" gaming.
