  1. Hello, I have been searching for some time and find plenty of topics where the question is answered but they don't seem to apply to my system. I'm trying to find a mpmission stored on my own hard drive after playing it from a dedicated server. I've been told to look here: c:\users\youruser\appdata\arma\mpmissioncache BUT I have no folder named "appdate" nor on a system search can I find a folder named "mpmissioncache". Do I somehow have this disabled? I'm on Windows 7 Home Edition if that helps.
  2. Official TacBF servers locked now?
  3. Not sure this would do what I'm looking for. Basically I need something that will allow human players to kill a unit who is already marked as "invincible".
  4. This happened to me when I unknowingly placed the unit over a big rock. It spawned on the rock and blew up. I would double check your not trying to place the asset on something that is destroying it.
  5. I just got to jump on for about 15 minutes earlier today but it looks good so far. Very PR like! Also had a group leader who was an admin for one of the servers that was very helpful and was about teaching the features of the game. Need more like him to push this awesome mod to its potential!
  6. Are there any addon OPFOR units that currently work with ALiVE?
  7. Couldn't have said it better myself. Having been in combat myself I know it is nearly impossible to effectively return fire when your being engaged first. You have to do any or a combination of things before you can return effective fire (break contact, find cover, use smoke, suppress back or another friendly element suppress) THEN you can return effective fire. Suppressing the enemy is what almost all battle drills are focused around. To simply not include any type of suppression system kills any simulation experience. This should also add to force some more teamwork and coordination between friendly elements. More benefit for support by fire and overwatch positions.

    African conflict a3

I would like to request the same not only for the African units but all of your addons PLEASE :)
  9. Can't wait for this release. The key in its longevity will come in what servers host it and the organization of us players to organize squads that work together in game. If its just a bunch of rambos running around it will just turn into one of their other PvP game modes.
  10. I too am having trouble with trying to use Massi's African Conflict OPFOR. I have pieced a few bits of info in this thread together to see that unit addons need CfgFactionClasses and CfgGroups properly set up. However, I have not seen if this is exact problem with the African Conflict addon or if I'm just messing something up module wise?

    Grenade Implementation

It definitely needs to be "more of a chore" to throw grenades in Arma. In real life grenades are carefully stored in grenade pouches, Assault packs, taped up, ect. I'd say a good 6-10 second at the fastest executed. It is harder to throw with the "tactical" single point slings than most people realize because the weapon flops everywhere. In most instances I've seen soldiers unhook their weapon from their single point sling to toss a grenade. Which also brings up another factor in the weight of a grenade. Grenades are pretty damn heavy when compared to most things that humans throw overhand. It is a lot harder than throwing a baseball for instance. Way back in BASIC training I remember thinking I was gunna chuck that damn grenade so far because I was a baseball pitcher in college..... haha nope.

    Czech Republic Addon

I worked along side some Czech soldiers while in Afghanistan ('11-'12). Awesome soldiers for sure! When I was with them they had a desert camo pattern, of course that could have changed by now.
  15. I really don't see why this couldn't be done but figured I would ask to make sure its possible. Q:Would it be possible create an ALiVe TvT mission? Basically two group playing against each other working with a.i. friendlies as well?

    Scopes vs. Holo Sights

The unit (US Light Infantry) I was with in Afghanistan a year ago was made up mostly with this template (not as many longer range optics as you might think, and there is a reason): SLs with ACOGs Alpha Teams TL-acog MG(mk-48) 145 scope Grenadier- M68 red dot SDM- Sos type scope on EBR M14s *some Alphas had a regular rifleman with a m68 instead of the SDM Bravo Team TL-ACOG MG (SAW with iron sights) Grenadier- M68 red dot SDM- SOS Weapon squads featured 1 M240L w/ 145 scope 1 M240L w/ iron sights 1 SDM all other roles with M68s The reasoning (not that I necessarily agree with it but) was that soldiers with magnified optics tend to look for point targets. They wanted more roles with M68s and iron sights for this reason: AutomaticRifles: so they will use more suppressing fire rather than look for point targets Grenadiers: so they focus more on deadspace with their M320s. The reason some MGs had magnified optics was basically to more precisely engage and being allowed to do so because the other un magnified MG was no doubtedly suppressing. Like I said before I don't necessarily agree with this 100% but it does keep the M4s from wasting their rounds at 600+ meters and allowing the autorifles and SDMs to do work and forcing those M68 and iron sight systems to cover close or suppress depending on their weapon system. *One thing this real life scenario has over the Arma world is the effects and importance of suppressing fire. Its hard to effectively suppress in Arma with the player on the other end knowing hes not going to feel the pain of those rounds hitting him. Hearing rounds crack 10-20 feet above your head in real life have a "thats going to hurt" sound, lol.

    The island is boring.

Altis is amazing............not sure how someone sees differently. If your comparing Arma to BF4 then that is your problem. Altis isnt suppose to be epic, it suppose to be realistic.
  22. http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu301/ll--Doro--ll/CampaignGhosts_zpsd298410e.jpg (128 kB) CAMPAIGN GHOSTS What is it? I recently started putting together a "mini campaign"/set of missions for a group/unit I play with. I figured I might as well release them to the community so they can enjoy them as well. The campaign will feature a series of missions that tie into each other. Events in one mission will tie into later missions. The idea is not to create a story line like found in most game's campaigns but more a flowing chain of missions all centered around the same conflict. Each mission will be somewhat realistic in its design. I'm not exactly sure how many missions will complete the campaign but right now I plan to make at least 8-10 missions. All missions will incorporate a VAS crate so you can use any additional addons you wish. *note: There are no Tasks, completion messages, end game states ect. This is for several reasons some of which are to make you personally confirm objective completion and not rely on an on screen message as well as allow some freedom to you and your group on how you want to complete the mission. Multiplayer: These missions will be designed with 4-8 coop in mind but will be able to run more or less if that is what you desire. They will be designed around small team/squad elements and tactics. Many will also have playable pilot slots available for support with also a.i. supports available as well. *ADDONS REQUIRED! -CBA Addon -All other addon's can be found in a single download here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9067432/%40JSF.zip Included are: -Massi's DEVGRU, Delta,Rangers; UK's SAS; African Units (OPFOR) -NATO SF and Russian Spetsnaz Weapons : http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=21912 -FHQ Accessories pack: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=20393 -Canadian Forces Units This thread will be used when new missions are released as well as provide Intel along with those missions Information, Backstory, Chain of Events: *This is 100% FICTIONAL created in my head History of Altis: The Republic of Altis is located off the coast of Somalia in the Arabian Sea. In the late 1990’s Atlis’ economy saw a boom when off shore oil was discovered in their waters. This lead to redevelopment of it’s coasts with creation of tourist resorts. However, after the oil in their waters ran out combined with an increase of Somali pirate scares the tourism development crashed. Today’s Altis is governed by a dictatorship backed by a weak and corrupt militia. The North Western mountainous areas of Altis are largely controlled by warlords with prominent control coming from “The Immortal Prophets of Allahâ€. Most of the island's population live in poverty. The United Nations peace keeping forces aid with feeding the hungry and medical needs often. Small terrorist attacks often hit the outlying cities and villages of Altis and in the past U.N. soldier's have been attacked but for the most part General Kareem Farah was winning his battle against the terrorist groups. That is until the 5th of November 2013 when General Kareem Farah was killed by a suicide bomber while giving a speech in downtown Kavacala. General Farah’s son, newly appointed General Abdi Farah, took over his father’s duties and vowed revenge against the terrorists that resided in the northern mountains of his country. While his father had a calm, collective, and thoughtful personality , young Abdi was anything but that. Abdi is rash, aggressive, and arrogant and his assault on the northern mountain people was ruthless. Villagers were drug out of their houses and executed just for the possibility of being linked to the Immortal Prophets of Allah. The IPoA declared a Jihad and extremists from all over the globe ascended on the island. Altis was now in its own civil war. With his army suffering heavy losses the young General Abdi Farah unleashed his stockpile of chemical weapons on the north, thousands of innocent people died. Civil war continues on Altis while the rest of the world watches the two sides destroy each other. NATO Agenda Altis has stockpiles of chemical weapons and has used them on masses of civilians. The island is now also an extremist terrorist hot spot. The Immortal Prophets of Allah are not only conducting operations on Altis but a recent terrorist attack in Madrid, Spain has been tied to the extremist group as well. Sources say that the group is planning attacks in The United States as well as in Europe. Something has to be done: General Abdi Farah’s chemical attacks have to stop but if his army falls those weapons cannot be allowed to fall into the hands of the Immortal Prophets of Allah. NATO commanders agree they do not want an invasion of Altis involving conventional units to occur. Afghanistan is still fresh in the minds of the NATO nations and their citizens would not approve of another such major operation. NATO decides to send their elite operators to bring order to the region. Delta , SAS,JTF2, 8SOG, and 160th SOAR are being deployed to the region. The Mission: Play both sides. Break the back and funding of The Immortal Prophets of Allah to prevent future terrorist attacks in the West. Use the Republic of Altis' Militia to do the bulk of the work against the terrorist groups. Work with The Republic of Altis’ militia BUT covertly gather Intel on it’s chemical weapons, destroying them if possible. Key Players: Republic of Altis: Republic of Altis leader: General Abdi Farah Immortal Prophets of Allah leader: Ibrahim Malawi Leader of the IPoA's Jihad. Blames The Republic of Altis' government for destroying the morals and religious views of the Island. Has a great hatred for the government's NATO allies as well. Lead Bomb Maker: Farooq Masis Creator of most of the suicide bombs used on Altis. Has been tired into the explosives used in a recent terrorist attack in Madrid, Spain. Sniper: Kareem Laden Deemed "The Black Mamba" by the U.N. Security forces of which who have been terrorized by the sniper for years. Has killed approx. 10+ U.N. Peace Keepers and an unknown amount of Republic of Altis soldiers via Sniper attack. Weapon of choice: SVD Dragunov. Episode 1: Operation Boom Stopper (found via STEAM Workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=191868657 ) 3rd Group Special Forces have been on the Island for weeks working along side the Altis Militia. They have narrowed down the location of lead bomb maker Farooq Masis to a warehouse on Altis. They will lead a group of militia into a "faint attack" South of the warehouse drawing IPoA fighters away from the warehouse opening up the Northern side for your elements to raid the warehouse to kill/capture Farooq Masis and destroy any bomb making materials on the site.
