  1. By the way, if Im not able to get the Zakus legs animated, I will put it on hold on concentrate on the tanks instead.

I started on a "Magella Attack Tank", only problem I encountered so far is that they look quite differently in the Anime and the CGI series: http://s7.directupload.net/images/100721/te99lpq3.jpg

So mine is a mixture of both. I also took some liberties on details like the soviet-style fuel tanks on the back.

I would've gone with the MS IGLOO style, since the later incarnations of the UC universe tend towards more realistic designs.

For humanoid mechs, would it not be possible to simply use the existing human skeleton + animations, and just scale everything up 10x?

  2. Start up ARMA, go into a mission, stand still and observe your framerate. Wait a few minutes, then minimize the game. Wait a few more minutes, then switch back to your game, and see if your framerate has increased. Then see if it goes back down after a little while. Make sure to stand still in game. Please give in actual numbers what your framerates were before and after.

I can get to 30-50 frames after minimizing, after which it drops back to around 20 and below.

  3. Can everyone do us a favour and test this out, at least to confirm that this isn't just us.

  4. @MissionCreep You can find Swordsman's chatlog under Shaftoe.

What I hate about this is that you don't know whether something is working like it should, or if its a bug. When I approached the Quarry, my squad immediately takes out all of the Chedaki there, except one, who manages to escape by running up the impossibly steep cliff face. Cooper says his line about spotting 3 men at the "cottage", but being able to identify them. After moving in closer to the quarry, Cooper then contradicts himself by saying that there is nobody in the Quarry. ???

I only attempted this mission once. I wanted to go back and try again, but as someone pointed out already, for some stupid reason, once the campaign advances, you lose your savepoints. I was in Solnichniy when I got the 20min mission, so I drove to Shakhovka, then from there took the most direct route to Gorka, but I didn't spot any red hatchbacks. Once I arrived in Gorka (which I'm quite sure was under 20 minutes), I got the message that he had escaped.

Quite disappointing really. I had only managed to check one of the camps and the Quarry prior to that. I was hoping I would have more chance to explore the island before the game forced the campaign to advance on me without being able to recover my saves!

Manhattan lets you take your time, but I've finished all the obvious leads and now I'm just wandering around the country.

  5. You call 40-50 FPS barely playable? I play around 25 FPS and it's fine (though I wish my PC could do better)

I didn't say 40-50 FPS was barely playable

For me, my framerate seems (I don't know how to check my framerate in game) to go down to 10-20, but alt tabbing brings it back up to 20+ for a short while, as does saving, changing video settings, and bringing up the map.

  6. Something else that is weird:

Whenever I return from viewing the map, saving the game, changing video settings or alt-tabbing, my performance is smooth...for several seconds, before degrading again.

I have no idea why this would happen...From all this, it seems that my system is perfectly capable of running the game smoothly at the given graphics settings, but something is slowing it down...

Oh, I didn't mention this before, don't know if it's important, but I'm running Combined Operations.

  7. I'm experiencing a strange stutter problem. I'm not sure if it's the same thing as the "microstuttering" other people have been experiencing, but it seems to be unrelated to what I'm looking at in game (i.e. unrelated to how hardware intensive or expensive the scene is).

Basically, what happens is that my performance seems to be increasing and decreasing for no apparent reason. I'll be standing still, looking at the same scene, and my game will suddenly get choppy, then suddenly get smooth, etc., independent of how hardware intensive the scene is.

    Any ideas?
