ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
Atkins replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hmm... This might have been caused by the Nvidia 295 drivers. Just installed 296 and I haven't experienced such freezing or stuttering anymore. Edit. I was able to repro some slight stutter/jerkiness. But now it might be just the lack of SSD... Needs more testing still... Edit2. Still freezes inside cities or close by. :( Time for ssd i suppose -
Project Reality: Arma 2

Those trying out PR:ARMA2 you have to install the A2:OA beta patch and use the -beta extention in the pr-shortcut, otherwise the game will eventually disconnect you. http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f440-pr-arma2-general-discussion/108637-crashes-today.html#post1746313 -
Project Reality: Arma 2
Atkins replied to A.R.Mageddon's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Afaik there isn't any centralized TS (nor mumble) server for PR:A2 like there is for PR:BF2. For most of the ppl the in-game VON works decently albeit the quality could be tiny bit better. I suppose you just have to use the mobo's soundcard while playing PR? I've noticed that some units/clans/whatnot groups use their separate TS servers while playing PR but they still have to (and will) use the VON as well to communicate with other players thru commanding channel and dc. -

To me it seems that PR is an answer to your requests; http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?132531-Project-Reality-Arma-2 It provides 90% of the stuff that you just listed and is only 1 mod with no extra addons or hassle. Now just new players will have to find out about this MP PvP possibility for Arma2. -
Trouble Trying To Start In Steam
Atkins replied to TestDawgG's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Google directx9 and run the MS installer that updates it. Although I would imagine that you might already have the latest version but no harm checking. Have you tried running the OA.exe straight from windows and with admin rights? -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
Atkins replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
2500k@4.0Ghz runs the game pretty smoothly FPS-wise but now that I moved to s1155 I had to get rid of my old IDE HDDs so i was forced to put my pagefile to either c: or to steam's hdd and either way the game starts stuttering and freeze occasionally for 1s when windows is writing to pagefile, especially when I zoom the game tends to freeze for a tiny time. Any tips how to prevent the stuttering/freezing? I only have 4 gigs of ram atm, but I am going to get 4 more and SSD as well but in the mean time I would sure appreciate if the stuttering would go away. Win7 is the OS. -

PR 0.15 has started quite well. There is now almost around the clock gameplay going on and at best there is 2 servers with 100 players on each during the prime time. GJ. -

Start Steam with Administrator rights and that message does not appear anymore. -

That is pretty much how Arma2 uses the cpu cores. Nothing we can do about it basically except to accept it. OC the cpu and u might get few extra frames. -
ARMA 2: OA beta build 90242 (1.60 MP compatible build, post 1.60 release)
Atkins replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Would make sense if BI implemented a different message to the patch installation .exe Not a biggy, just saying that ppl might get a bit confused and not try beta patches... -
Dunno about that but at least you don't get the MPTable.shadow error no more?

ARMA 2: OA beta build 90242 (1.60 MP compatible build, post 1.60 release)
Atkins replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Btw all the beta patches still say that to uninstall the patch you need to uninstall and re-install whole OA. That is not true so perhaps you should change the installation message so ppl don't get scared. Anyway, trying out this patch --> -
Are you using a Steam version and windows 7/vista? If you are, start Steam as administrator and that messages will go away. (or yo might have to install directx 9.0c again). I suppose same goes if you are running a non-steam version, just start it as an administrator. Ps. rename the topic to something that helps others as well e.g. "Arma2:OA not starting, error msg MPTable.shadow"

Has anyone else gotten this one with the latest drivers; Faulting application name: arma2oa.exe, version: 1.60.89.647, time stamp: 0x4f427109 Faulting module name: nvd3dum.dll, version: 8.17.12.9573, time stamp: 0x4f34782e Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x001b9c9d Faulting process id: 0xff8 Faulting application start time: 0x01ccfa4eb049d586 Faulting application path: K:\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\nvd3dum.dll Report Id: f9cab7b7-6641-11e1-83a4-001cc018af52 After that crash, A2 will not work, it just uses 50% of cpu and hangs. Reboot fixes it. Got it 2 times yesterday. I have 560 Ti and Windows 7 64bit. -
One of the most useful parts of Steam is; You'll see instantly which of your friends are online, what games they are playing, in which server, and how many players in that server and what map. And you can just click and choose "join game". Simple and very, very useful and atm does not work for Arma2. Which sucks. Second thing is the community groups, a great way to announce events and stuff. Steam is not perfect for sure but it is very useful for players.

H&G can draw grass etc. to the horizon. No idea how they pull it off it but BI should definitely look in to it.

Sry about the name misspell... PR installs to @PR folder so it works like a regular mod out there though has a separate .exe. Nothing to fear when u install it. Check: http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f440-pr-arma2-general-discussion/107325-project-reality-arma2-v0-15-closed-beta-testing.html Can't help you on the PR server policies. That is just how they roll. I see it as a good thing. Keeps the server owners on their toes and all servers up to certain standards. It has down sides but imo the up sides weigh more. Ps. PR server fills during the EU evening time and reaches up to 70-100 players then. -

You guys are talking like PR wasn't released. Their beta test server is the 3rd most popular arma server out there, and that server is even password protected. That tells a lot. There is a high demand for quality PvP action and PR is providing it. Coop and PvP can co-exist. But it seems that not peacefully. My beef with players from coop background is that some of them (not all) want their Tomb Raider viewpoint, Mario Kart driving and crosshair forced to a PvP, which by nature is competitive and ppl use any edge possible to get the upper hand thus forcing everyone to use these features, if enabled. Jedra: Which server runs TvT for I44 2.6? Are there many players? oops, sry about the name... -
Consider that an A2 feature. You could try setting Texture Detail to Very High to minimize it. Ps. Rename the topic better

How does A2 run with a 6850 crossfire set? Stuttering issues? Any problems at all? -
REDACTED due to forum agreement

GJ. Nice to see 2.6 released. Is anyone running a TvT server for this? KH perhaps?

Atkins replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hmm... It seems that if I force setting from Nvidia Control Panel, they have no effect. I am using latest drivers and card is 560 Ti. Is this normal? Edit. I suppose A2 has some special AA so that Nvidia is not supporting AA change from CP. Right?
