  1. heh, its less of me overestimating power of recoil and more like you underestimating the lack of gravity :D. Thing is, in zero-g if as much as kick your shoe off you can be propelled backward, with a little bit of force, but enough in zero-g. With no air and gravity you will just fly without an end. Now pierce a body armor a bullet has to have quite a bit of power, now according to Newton's 3rd law the exact same amount of force, that is given to bullet, is applied to the gun and then in turn to the shooter. Without gravity to pull you down things become tricky. Magnetic boots would only work where there is something to stick to. What about very low gravity planetside operations? Just a note, Im not looking for a fight or anything. Its just that the concept of space military is very deep and interesting, as there are things we wouldnt even think of considering before. Its fun to notice such issues and discuss them. If you want to see how hard it is to control things in space, then try out the Kerbal Space Program, it will give you pretty good idea.
  2. Magnetic boots , in case of firing a gun, would make your whole body pivot around the point of contact and make you smack your head against the surface you are attached to. The micro-jets are dodgy idea as well. Jets would need to fire exactly against the vector of recoil force, in order to properly cancel out the recoil without spinning you around. This would mean that gun would have to be rigged to the suit, and to aim you would need to rotate your whole body. Now I just realized that the space fight from the Moonraker (as silly as it was) was actually pretty good representation how space firefight could look like :D.
  3. Of course you can, the problem is the recoil. If you fire a normal gun, with uses chemicals to fire the projectile, in space you will be propelled back in same force bullet is fired forward. Thats the problem with guns in space and Newtons 3rd law. That is why an infantry gun for space use needs to be recoilless, either gauss style electromagnetic weapon or DEW, Directed Energy Weapon (ie. laser).
  4. Random musing: it occured to me that I didnt saw any UNSC infantry weapons designed for use in zeo-g and microgravity enviroments. Due to Newton's third law you cant just use normal gun in space. I think that either electormagnetic or directed energy (ie. lasers) weapons would have to be used in such conditions. Maybe Im just unaware of such weapon in Halo-verse.
  5. I think that legs could coded in same way as suspension on cars is coded in (physx thingy). This way legs would align to terrain with would make it less likely for a wanzer to flip over.

Still if mod earns $399.99 modder dosent get the money while valve (and most likely beth still get theirs). Just one more way to buttfuck modders stupid enough to buy into this scam. EDIT: You want to refund your mod, great heres your fake Steam Wallet money, oh and dont forget this 7 days ban for refunds and marketplace.

You know what I realized? The modder pay mechanics may be even worse then it appears. From what I understand modder only gets the $100 every time mod earns $400. So he dosent get money for each download, but for hitting "milestones".
  8. You guys seen this right? http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=28559 Heh, knowing my luck this mod was created for Unsung 3 in the first place :p. Cant wait for some jungle action.
  9. You know what would be a cool thing to do? UNSC soldiers + Unsung jungle map (once it gets released) + jurrasic arma raptors = interesting scenario.
  10. Actually It would be pretty easy to make our own Spartan I's. Of course it would be just stand in: take the ODST armor (with some changes maybe), create new soldier config, add extra hitpoints to all bodyparts, give more stamina. That wouldnt be so hard to pull off.
  11. Would it be possible to have "invisible" AI gunner (like in drones) for the Falcon? This would make the cannon bit more useful and player would still have an option to use manual fire. Dunno about ejecting mechanics and such.
  12. Awesome, are there any on the back? I think they would cool addition. Just joking around really. Good reference material is incredibly helpful when creating models and textures. You are doing excellent job with those pictures.
  13. Good job on the ass photos, those are vital, there is nothing like futuristic soldier booty :p. Honestly though, you did get great shots that will help out for sure. As for Falcon I guess I would need to see it the game myself. Great work still.
  14. I think that bump mapping needs to be a little more aggressive so the Falcon dosent look like a plastic toy. Still it was a step in right direction. From my experience with gloss maps; actually anything above complete black gives you gloss. Metal dosent require really bright gloss map, a dark gray is often enough.
  15. Yes, it seems that PG service PMC does employ some randomisation script. Ill see if I can figure it out.
  16. Unfortunately AFAIK you can have only one uniform for a soldier type defined in config (ie. "B_support_MG_F" and so on). Some scripting witchery may be used though. However you can have multiple soldiers defined and then having them mixed up in actual groups.
  17. Leave no ass unphotographed :p. Seriously though, good work on those screenshots, stuff like that helps a lot. As for Falcon, its still WIP, we will wait and see.
  18. Yeah, it just looks a bit off to me, I just dont see normal map under that reflection. Maybe its just that screenshot though. You are talking about RVMAT settings? There are also specularity maps. For example Marine BDU's had a slight glint to their uniform that made it look like they are wearing plastic suits, I did change that one to make uniforms look a bit more natural (at least to me).
  19. Too much reflection IMHO, maybe its still WIP though. Look great anyway.
  20. Would it be possible to add a new HUD element: Ballistic Trajectory Projection. Basically take the new Arsenal bullet trajectory thingy and have it display for X meters for X bullets fired (settings changable it user config). That would be pretty cool addition to the hud.
  21. It was worth an effort to ask. Again, if I could edit the uniforms myself I would do so. However with binarizing around and stuff, I simply cannot edit anything unless its a source material. With is why Im asking you guys to divert attention, cause what else I can do? Well, at the new IOTV vests fit. Anyway, I was thinking about the Pelican and Falcon. Right now the Pelican is just better craft; faster, pretty decent manoeuvrability, good armor. What does Falcon have against that? I guess you could make it more "stealthy", less noise, harder to ID for AI, also onboard guns. LOL, it was pretty much opposite of books. Starship Troopers from the original novels, now that would be interesting stuff. BTW: Starship Troopers vs UNSC, now that would be fun. This kind of stuff is what I love about Arma modding.
  22. All Im asking is tweaking models a bit so the vests and BDU's dont clip so much with vanilla stuff, that is all. Same way I could wear the new Marksmen DLC vest with heavy Marine BDU and it actually worked really well together. I kind of fail to see how something like this would "defeats the purpose" of this mod.
  23. Im not asking for anything lore breaking. Let us just pretend those bracers on heavy armor would be a "personal touch". I just want them, thats all there is to it :p. As for Shoulder pads being part of the vest. Well personally I would like to at least have a "dev" version like the old style pads that I could use with other vests and stuff. BTW: you guys may want to go through the vests and uniforms and possibly make them compatible with vanilla style vests (mainly talking about fixing clipping issues). That IOTV does look cool on top of halo uniform and it would be nice to have an ability to mix and match equipment just for giggles. Oh if you still have that BDU normal, specular maps and my digital camo textures. Well if you do feel free to use them any way you see fit.
  24. All Im asking is simply to take bracers from ODST and put them on heavy marine BDU. I dunno give that very heavy BDU to shotgun troopers for additional armor. Anything, I just want those bracers. Had I the original models (or even if I could edit the release stuff) I would add them myself.
  25. Ive got to say that the new Marksmen DLC armors fit your Marine BDU's (even the heavy ones) very well. There is little of an actual clipping. Now, pretty, pretty please, with a cherry on top, could you give us (Very) Heavy variant of BDU with bracers from ODST armor? I mean the forearms armor, just recolor it to fit other marine armor pieces. Those bracers are the only thing Im missing for my "future soldier project".
