Dynamic shadows possible in Real Virtuality?
babylonjoke replied to JuggernautOfWar's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
What BB said. The problem is that Arma will be always 1 step (5 to 10 years) behind any actual game engine (in terms of graphic/tech) and you know why? We will have to wait other 4-5 years to get these features (MAYBE) in the next chapter, and they will probably be broken. In these 4-5 years I don't even want to imagine what other engines will implement, and we will keep requesting as far as the others advances. If you need to implement these things you gotta do it NOW. FFS, they are now using PBR and we are still with that Specular shit of the 2000s. Come on BIS. It's pathteic. Then you wonder why the big part of the modder artists wont touch Arma. What will happen when other game engines will support larger terrains (we're not far imo) and BIS will have not yet have implemented PBR? GG. -
Glad to hear that! Might be the right time to get Iron Front :D

Arma 3 Lighting - Alpha vs. Final version

Holy ... the helicopter one... The real problem is that till these lights doesn't collide with objects making shadows are pretty damn ugly and useless. I mean that's a damn important aspect of the lighting in a game for create belivable scenario and good atmosphere. But no, not in Arma, join in an house and use your flashlight, from outside they will see it. I would love to be able to create a damn house with spooky lighting inside, but I cant. Why? Because the sunlight even if you are in a box whitout holes will illuminate the whole damn thing. So yeah, improved lighting = Not really improved at all. That's one of the things that most irritates me. -

Tryed with another model , this time FBX, directly exported out of Maya. SAME THING. I might be using some wrong setting in object builder. Herp , I'm lost. -
Blender to Addon Builder HUGE issue.
babylonjoke replied to babylonjoke's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
That's not a fix, just a walkaround from the community. On this model might could work well, as there are edges marked... But what about the other models I have? Most of them doesn't have edge sharp marked and all of them are tris, that means no edge loop selection (I know I could make them quads, but these models are HP-LP bakes, I dont want to fuck up something by making them tris again later) ... It's a pain in the ass. That's something really bad if a tool automerge or autosplit edges. Doesn't make sense. If that's my fault and I do something wrong exporting/importing/saving, please, tell me. If not, well, I'll make a ticket that will get burried probably. Edit: Even using Alwarren tools I'm not getting correct shading. -

Yeah hard edges requires seams... but not the way around, a seam doesn't require necessarly an hard edge... so even if I select the edges I need in the uv still wouldn't be accurate... Unfortunately thats not only the OBJ case, also FBX and .3ds gives me absolutly weird results. I've tryed importing the model in another 3d software (3ds max/maya) and exporting it from there... nothing has changed... I'm out of energy -

This is how the campigan ends? (might contain spoilers)
babylonjoke replied to xMenta's topic in ARMA 3 - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Yeah, I must say that afterall the complete campaign it's quite long... but we have waited as well so long to have the "win" chapter that feels a bit weird have finished it in almost 1 H ... I like the storyline, it's quite interesting too... And of course open the doors for a future campaign in a future DLC... I'm saying basically that the whole campaign it's very well done, except the win chapter that it's quite poor... And yeah, as Misty said apparently that device creates Earthquakes... H.a.a.r.p. -
lol. (would be f#°&in cool, indeed)

Hi mate nice model, but it have too many vertecis! If you are using blender use the Edge split modifier to have a better shading effect and avoid artifacts, and where you need just add more edge loops. Better avoid subdivision when making aircraft if you are not planning to bake normals Check expecially the part at 2.35 If you are using blender: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Modifiers/Generate/Edge_Split If you aren't check on the web some tutorials about "smoothing groups" Cheers

Nope. Anyway the model looks great, even if it's not my style of airplane design, the cockpit as well it's bloody amazing. Good job, that was a pretty surprise. :D -

To me it appears to be just un updated model of Arma1-A2 and I bet they havn't even updated the cockpit. Yeah the model looks great, ok, just doesn't fit in the whole scenrio at all. Doesn't make sense have 70' aircraft in a 2035 scenario. Doesn't even fit in the Nato force that till now was looking "realistic" and not really "futuristic" like the CSAT. At this point I was more happy with the good "old" F35, makes more sense to me. But anyway who knows, might once I'l see it closely I'll fall in love with it.
