  1. Channel 4 Unreported World: South Africa: Trouble in the Townships Channel 4 News's Krishnan Guru-Murthy introduces each programme and reports for this first edition from South Africa. Seventeen years after it was freed from apartheid, he finds a country in which violent protests against corruption and the lack of basic services mean its ambition to lead the continent as a prosperous democracy hangs in the balance. Simmering with anger, its people tell him they feel a sense of betrayal they will tolerate no longer. Trevor Manual Minister in charge of the National Planning Commission agreed that 'all individuals with power over political processes should be open to public scrutiny, including ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema'. 0k4Ro1NbMTs 2 adverts unfortunately but 24 minutes of excellent TV afterwards. Clips of the episode from CH4: Krishnan Guru-Murthy reports from South Africa where, seventeen years after it was freed from apartheid, he finds corruption and a lack of basic services. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/unreported-world/video/series-2011/episode-11/trouble-in-the-townships Malema’s mansion woes Planning Minister and ANC stalwart Trevor Manuel has urged Julius Malema to come clean on his financial affairs amid ongoing claims over the youth league leader’s R16 million Sandton mansion. In an interview on the UK’s Channel 4 documentary Unreported World last night, Manuel acknowledged “high level†corruption among senior officials and that conviction rates were too low. Respected journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy is told to “mind your business†by Malema after he challenged the youth leader over the funding of his Sandton house. Guru-Murthy asked: “People in the townships, they say how is Mr Malema getting a new expensive mansion when I’ve been waiting decades?†http://www.iol.co.za/news/politics/malema-s-mansion-woes-1.1153021

Now that is super cool. I want one! You could clip it to the front of your shirt. I think the shoulder mounting is for the prototype but it will be refined. Endless flexibility and possibilities. Why be constrained by the screen or touch screen?

Well 5 guards have reported it and the ICC were taking it seriously: Five women who were part of Col. Moammar Gaddafi’s elite team of female bodyguards say they were raped and abused by the now fugitive Libyan leader. The Sunday Times of Malta reports that the former bodyguards said Gaddafi and his sons raped and abused them and then discarded the women once the men became “bored†with them. Benghazi-based psychologist Seham Sergewa has collected the details for use by the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is investigating possible war crimes by Gaddafi and his associates. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpost/post/gaddafis-female-bodyguards-say-they-were-raped-abused-by-the-libyan-leader/2011/08/29/gIQA8TOKnJ_blog.html

Gadaffi buried in secret: Moammar Gadhafi, his son Muatassim and a top aide were buried in an Islamic ceremony at dawn Tuesday in a secret location, with a few relatives and officials in attendance, officials said. The burial closed the book on Gadhafi's nearly 42-year rule and the 8-month civil war to oust him, but did not silence international calls for an investigation into whether the widely despised tyrant was executed by his captors. The NTC said the three would be buried in unmarked graves to prevent vandalism. Presumably, the location would also be kept hidden to prevent it from turning into a shrine for Gadhafi loyalists. Gadaffi sexually assaulted after capture: More controversy and lots of headlines about this but all I can see in the pictures and videos is some guy messing about and poking him in the backside with a stick for 30 seconds as Gadaffi is led away. Gadaffi still has his trousers on and it's a bit of a stretch of the truth and terribly PC to call this a sexual assault. For a man that reportedly frequently raped his female bodyguards and other women, had charges filed against him by the ICC for ordering rape of protesters and the case of Eman al-Obeidi who burst into a Tripoli Hotel after being raped by 15 Gadaffi soldiers, well a little chastisement with a stick amounts to nothing really.

    War with Iran.

I thought Iran got help with it's Nuclear ambitions from AQ Khan too? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdul_Qadeer_Khan#North_Korea_and_Iran North Korea and Iran In 2003, Libya gave up nuclear weapons-related material including the centrifuges that were acquired from AQ Khan's nuclear "black market".[38] Pakistan is one of few countries to have diplomatic relations with North Korea, first established during the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's regime, a socialist democratic regime in Pakistan.[39] In 1990, it was reported that the highly sensitive centrifuge technology was being exported to North Korea in exchange for missile technologies.[39] Khan, along with Benazir Bhutto, paid a state visit to North Korea and downloaded secret information on uranium enrichment to give to North Korea in exchange for information on developing ballistic missiles. Khan again paid visit to North Korea with a senior army general to buy shoulder-launched missiles.[39] After General's death, Abdul Qadeer Khan tried to remove Munir Ahmad Khan as Chairman of PAEC as he wanted to became Chairman instead. However, because PAEC is an influential member of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and regular participating member of European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), former President Ghulam Ishaq Khan and Prime minister Benazir Bhutto denied Abdul Qadeer Khan's request. Khan then restarted his nuclear network, beginning with Iran.[39] It emerged in August 2003, that Dr. Khan had offered to sell sensitive designs of centrifuge technology to Iran as early as 1989.[39] Following the revelation, the Iranian government came under intense pressure from United States and the European Union to fully disclose its nuclear program.[39] In October 2003, Iran finally agreed to accept tougher inspections from the IAEA.[39] The IAEA reported that Iran had established a large uranium enrichment facility using gas centrifuges based on the URENCO designs, which had been obtained "from a foreign intermediary in 1989".[39] The intermediary was not named but many diplomats and analysts pointed to Khan, who was said to have visited Iran in 1989.[39] The Iranians turned over the names of their suppliers and the international inspectors quickly identified the Iranian gas centrifuges as Pak-1's, the model that Khan developed in the early 1980s.[39] In December 2003, two senior staff members at Khan Labs were arrested on suspicion of having sold centrifuge technology to the Iranians.[39] [edit] Iraq and Libya In May of 1998, the Newsweek magazine alleged that Khan had sent designs of centrifuges to Iraq, an allegation that he denied.[39]United Nations arms inspectors apparently discovered documents discussing Khan's purported offer in Iraq; Iraqi officials said the documents were authentic but that they had not agreed to work with Khan, fearing a sting operation.[40] During this time, Iraq and Pakistan had strained relations, and Iraq feared that an ISI sting operation might take place. During this time, Pakistan, through ISI, passed solid evidence to Mossad, whose [Pakistan] scientists had helped in building the nuclear program in Libya. Also, Iraq had received a large amount of chemical stockpile from Dr. Carlos Cardoen, another weapon scientist and metallurgical engineer. In 2003, the U.S. and IAEA successfully dismantled the Libyan nuclear programme and convinced Libya to give up its nuclear weapons-related material, including the centrifuges that were acquired from Khan's nuclear "black market".[39] Libyans turn over the names of its suppliers and A.Q. Khan was one of them.[39] The Bush administration investigated the centrifuge's nuclear proliferation in 2001 and 2002, focusing on Khan's personal role.[39] In December 2002 it renewed its allegation that an unidentified agent, supposedly acting on Khan's behalf, had offered centrifuge expertise to Iraq in the mid-1990s.[39] Khan strongly denied this allegation and the Pakistan Government declared the evidence to be "fraudulent".[39] The United States had responded by imposing sanctions on KRL in the 1990s.[39] However, after Pakistan's contribution against terrorism and as a key ally of United States in the War on Terror, the United States had removed the ban on KRL and technological cooperation between the United States and Pakistan.

As soon as you bother Iran they get Syria to cause trouble in Lebanon and Israel through the Hezbollah and Hamas organisations which are also funded by Iran. Syria is the key to stability in the whole region. You get rid of Assad and Iran loses it's ability to destabilise the region. That is why the Iranians are so desperate to prop him up. The key to dealing with Iran is to isolate it. The main block to all that comes from Russia and China who always veto. If Syria and Iran become democratic China and Russia lose income because they can't sell as many weapons and they also rely on Iranian oil. So the pot is kept bubbling because it's mutually beneficial to so many assholes.

You presume people are only interested in resources - they want stability more. Syria is next - that will isolate Iran and make it easier to deal with.

What's the point of a touch screen when it takes less effort to use a mouse? It's probably a feature for mobile phones and tablets I guess. I hope it will be possible to convince windows 8 that I don't have a touch screen lol.
  11. No the Taliban were the front for the corrupt politicians and members of the ISI who control the production of drugs in Afghanistan. Pakistan is the conduit for Afghanistan's national product - drugs. Drugs go out, the mules come back with guns. I'm not sure just how dealing drugs dovetails with being a holy warrior but I guess where there is money to be made, the rules of Islam can be bent a little.

Are you a loyal friend to everyone you shake hands with? Politics isn't an honest profession and Gadaffi wasn't a man of his word either. Syria next - not Iran.
  13. Don't trust Pakistanis :D I can't see anything changing with the Pakistan ISI meddling and allowing the Taliban safe refuge in their country. If the Taliban had nowhere to go, and noone giving them money and weapons, it would be over by now.

The killings, the rapes, the torture, the daily disgusting antics of most of the Hussein family? The inside story by his body double Latif Yahia is chilling and extreme. Once the countries oil industry was nationalised it meant they could take what they liked. qhlQOg9abRk

The final battle for Sirte got ugly. Many forget the way Misrata was put under siege and destroyed by Gadaffi in February / March. On 24 February 2011, early in the 2011 Libyan civil war the city fell under the control of the Libyan opposition.[7][8] The battle was renewed with shelling on 20 March as pro-Gaddafi tanks pushed forward, and, according to an eyewitness report aired on BBC News, razing the city to the ground. Eyewitnesses also reported that pro-Gaddafi soldiers were shooting, killing and injuring unarmed civilians.[9] For over 70 days, the city was shelled by artillery, tanks, and snipers, and for over 40 days had its water supply intentionally shut off by Muammar Gaddafi's forces. As supplies ran short, hundreds of thousands were at risk of death.[10] With NATO support, the rebel forces managed to fight off loyalist troupes and secure control of most of the city by mid-May. Thereafter, forces from Misrata played an important role in other theaters of the war, such as the Battle of Tripoli and the Battle of Sirte. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misrata#Civil_War It is said that the guy who shot Gadaffi was from Misrata and it is likely they carried out the above killings as well. They were out for blood and revenge and no one could have stopped them. It isn't a centrally controlled or professional army.

  20. Ahhh so we invaded Afghanistan on a crusade to steal their minerals? Afghanistan has "vast amounts of lithium, a key component in batteries of Western lifestyle staples such as laptops and BlackBerrys." It all makes more sense to me now. I can see now why there could be a conspiracy behind 9/11. If we ran out of batteries for laptops and blackberries, that really would be the end of western civilisation.
  21. There must be oil in Afghanistan? I'm reliably informed that every time the US invades somewhere it's to steal their oil?
  22. I agree! I think we only invaded Afghanistan to steal their oil!

You have statistics to back that up? Please post them, I would be very interested. PS I'm not a henchmen or a frenchmen. ---------- Post added at 04:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:27 PM ---------- One group of people will be very happy. The thousands of Libyan exiles trapped in the UK celebrated in the streets yesterday as many will finally be able to return home. Some for the 1st time in 30 years. For many it was tinged with sadness as they hoped relatives would be among those released from Gadaffi's prisons. Many have heard nothing from relatives imprisoned many years ago. Some good videos of 100s of Libyan people celebrating in Manchester: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-15403172 http://www.channel4.com/news/euphoria-and-anxiety-for-manchesters-libyan-exiles ---------- Post added at 04:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:45 PM ---------- Leave him to rot in Libya - we would have to pay his medical bills and the cost of flying him home when he eventually dies. The man who ordered the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 is lying in a freezer in Misrata, that's enough for me.
