A great man, not only during WW2 but he continued in public service for the rest of his working life. A great example to everyone. -

Sounds like everyday journalism to me - you said there was an FBI investigation into Stratfor over this - so where is it? Link please. -
BREAKING NEWS! The Octopus realy does exist and it really is run by Goldman Sachs.
PELHAM replied to walker's topic in OFFTOPIC
Did you read all of this and take it at face value believing all of it was true? Most of it isn't. eg the word 'client' has been substituted for the word 'subscriber'. So people who paid a subscription to this internet magazine (that's essentially what it is) are now labelled as clients. Several organisations are listed as clients because their employees are subscribers. A gross distortion of the truth (they do produce reports and analysis for some corporations, so what?). Subscribers addresses, credit card details and other data have been published online. This has caused 100,000s of people hardship and in many cases where those credit cards have been used fraudulently it has caused financial harm. Most are not rich people. They are now all the target of other fraudsters and hackers as a consequence. The psychological methods listed as some sort of dark art are no different from the techniques journalists use when interviewing people when trying to uncover information. I'm not sure how many of you have been interviewed by female journalists but the 2 I have encountered both smiled and fluttered their eyes suggestively. It's something women do to get what they want. -

What FBI investigation? (also look up insider trading, it probably isn't what you think it is) -

PELHAM replied to walker's topic in OFFTOPIC
WOW! How do you think international trading works exactly? It's all done on gossip, intelligence and inside info? They aim to predict the future so they can make money. Anyone who owns shares does this including me. Do you think people invest money and just leave it to chance? -
Iran to make major nuclear announcement within days, Ahmadinejad says
PELHAM replied to eble's topic in OFFTOPIC
The latest report on Iran from the IAEA about non compliance with UN and IAEA resolutions, non-cooperation and possible nuclear weapons activity. Board of Governors GOV/2012/9 Date: 24 February 2012 Restricted Distribution Original: English For official use only Implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement and relevant provisions of Security Council resolutions in the Islamic Republic of Iran http://isis-online.org/uploads/isis-reports/documents/IAEA_Iran_Report_24February2012.pdf IAEA Press Releases http://www.iaea.org/newscenter/pressreleases/2012/prn201205.html Press Release 2012/05 IAEA Expert Team Returns from Iran 22 February 2012 | A senior IAEA expert team is returning from Iran after two days of discussions with Iranian officials held on 20 and 21 February 2012. The meeting followed previous discussions held on 29 to 31 January 2012. During both the first and second round of discussions, the Agency team requested access to the military site at Parchin. Iran did not grant permission for this visit to take place. Intensive efforts were made to reach agreement on a document facilitating the clarification of unresolved issues in connection with Iran's nuclear programme, particularly those relating to possible military dimensions. Unfortunately, agreement was not reached on this document. "It is disappointing that Iran did not accept our request to visit Parchin during the first or second meetings," IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said. "We engaged in a constructive spirit, but no agreement was reached." -
ARMA 2: OA beta build 89647 (1.60 MP compatible build, post 1.60 release)
PELHAM replied to buliwyf's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
89647 Feedback Dead AI flickering back to standing position for 0.5 second when you turn to look in that direction. Slower performance in Multiplayer than 1.60 87xxx. Frequent pauses and a low frame rate. Can't comment further as I have stopped using it due to the above. -
Classname for fence?

That's a good one, saves HALOing onto things lol. -
Classname for fence?
PELHAM replied to JacobJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Had a go with the object script on editor placed things and got these with editor placed objects: "Fence_corrugated_plate" "Fence_Ind_long" "Fence_Ind" "Fort_RazorWire" "Land_BagFenceLong" "Concrete_Wall_EP1" "Fort_StoneWall_EP1" "Base_WarfareBBarrier10xTall" "Base_WarfareBBarrier10x" Changed the script to make it more user friendly - if you run this from a 'radio alpha' trigger, repeatedly, on act: nul = [] execVM "objfinder.sqf"; keys 0-0-1 It will copy the nearest object to the clipboard, just Alt-Tab and paste it into notepad. //Identify closest object private ["_closest_object","_object_type","_all_objects"]; //get all objects within a 5 metre radius _all_objects = []; _all_objects = nearestObjects [player, ["All"], 5]; if ((count _all_objects) > 1) then { //identify the closest object to player _closest_object = _all_objects select 1; //find out its type _object_type = typeOf _closest_object; //hint type player sidechat format ["%1", _object_type]; copytoclipboard str([_object_type]); }; -
Classname for fence?
PELHAM replied to JacobJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
That first script is for objects, this will work for buildings and some associated walls.: house = nearestBuilding player; m=0; while { format ["%1", (house) buildingPos m] != "[0,0,0]" } do {m=m+1}; m=m-1; player globalchat format["%1 \npositions: %2", typeof house, m+1]; sleep 2; copytoclipboard str([typeof house, m+1]); You call it from a radio trigger. This will give you some wall class names but NOT fences. Fences do not have a config entry as it's something you can only place when editing islands. I thought it might work as it returns walls but tested some fences and then worked out why I it returned nothing. The object script in post 2 will give you class names for fences placed in editor. -
Iran to make major nuclear announcement within days, Ahmadinejad says
PELHAM replied to eble's topic in OFFTOPIC
I'm not sure the Israelis will do anything because even if they manage to destroy some equipment they will not destroy the knowledge. It would take a sustained air campaign to destroy all of the nuclear sites and they could soon be rebuilt. The other problem is retaliation. It's not far from the Iran/Iraq border to Israel so what Walker says is true in reverse. Israel recently signed an agreement with Cyprus to allow military aircraft to land there. It is thought that is a possible solution to the destruction of Israeli airfields. Iran's ally Syria would no doubt join in the conflict or allow Iran access, so I'm not sure there is much to gain by military action. -
Classname for fence?
PELHAM replied to JacobJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
This might help you. It spits out class names for objects not in the editor too (Not written by me, found it somewhere): //Identify closest object while {true} do { //get all objects within a 5 metre radius _all_objects = []; _all_objects = nearestObjects [player, ["All"], 5]; if ((count _all_objects) > 1) then { //identify the closest object to player _closest_object = _all_objects select 1; //find out its type _object_type = typeOf _closest_object; //hint type hint format ["%1", _object_type]; }; sleep 2; }; -
PRACS test server. What do we download and where do we put it to play this multiplayer? Your server just has the 1 addon listed - do we combine all the downloads in 1 addon folder?

@ Martin - No doubt you experienced the horror of Lloret De Mar? If you want a good holiday in that area stay further north. I can recommend Palamos / Palafrugell area and if you want something very special, Cadaques. Try Collioure just over the border in France too. This hotel is excellent near Palamos: http://www.trip-europe.eu/spain/catalonia/park_hotel_san_jorge.html Best Holiday Flew to Toulouse and followed the route of the Canal du Midi through Castelnaudry, Carcassonne, then Narbonne and Gruissan. Returned following the Route Cathar with all the ruined Castles, small villages plus a side trip to Villfranche de Conflent (Fort Liberia), Les Angles and Lac de Bouillouses. For food, wine, sun, architecture, history, friendly people, dramatic scenery, I have not seen better anywhere in the world. Me getting the camera timer wrong - Pyrenees - bit like Takistan lol Worst Holidays Pakistan (K2 Base Camp) and the Yorkshire Dales. Nothing wrong with those places it's just they were either package holidays or someone else organised them. So bad travel arrangements, awful food and rooms. Never do package holidays, you are wasting your money. If anyone is stuck for something to do in Europe - get yourself a Logis Guide. 1000's of small family run hotels that can be surprisingly good. Pick a wine region in France, jump in the car and just see where you end up. http://www.logishotels.com/en.html

Yes Parchin is being closely watched, it's the explosive implosion tests I talked about the other day. They use a complicated Xray machine to study the blast effects. Thing about Xrays - they can be detected....... -
Arma2 Detail loading issue from distances.
PELHAM replied to FlibbertyJibbit's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Do you have the latest drivers and bios for your motherboard? Do you have latest video drivers? I had an issue with a new GPU and updated both. When flashing the bios read the instructions carefully. Don't let the PC switch off untill the bios update is complete. Make a note of the current bios settings before you flash. It will set everything to default after which might not be the way it needs to be. Do a reinstall of Arma2. Take care if you have a DVD of Reinforcments BAF PMC DLC, you only want the "Install BAF PMC content only" option. I defrag the partition before and after. Only run updates if you have to during the install. The fewer times you overwrite everything the better, as each time there is a possibility of errors occuring. Check your 1.60 update is the correct size / md5 sum. -
Hmmm the test subject is no longer visible? Lets hope PESKY will return soon.

ARMA 2 CO crash(reinforcements has stopped working)
PELHAM replied to RichardT252's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Crashing in multiplayer, every 20 mins or when textures are loading slowly? Non steam version. As you can see I have rolled back to the 1.60 vanilla, no patches, and it is still occurring. This leads me to suspect it is something to do with a server patch. This problem only started 1 month ago for me. The incident in Bangkok was not 1 lone crazed individual, there is much evidence to support that? There were 4 Iranians who shared a house (the one that blew up). Two Iranians are in custody in Bangkok. Saeid Moradi, 28, was injured in one blast and is being treated at Chulalongkorn Hospital, while Mohammad Khazaei, 42, was detained at Suvarnabhumi airport. The third suspect is Mr Sedaghatzadeh (he was arrested in Malaysia, trying to board a flight to Iran), while the fourth suspect is female, Leila Rohani, who has fled to Iran. The 3 males were seen leaving the house after the explosion by several witnesses. They also have pictures of the 3 males together in a Thai brothel. If the guy throwing grenades was acting alone and the others are innocent, why did they flee immediately after the unintentional explosion at the house? Innocent people usually stay to collect their belongings etc. Also it's odd that they managed to get on flights at such short notice, don't you think? Ordinary people don't have such convenient air travel arrangements. Bomb type, delivery and construction. In all 3 cases they used similar components including the same magnetic strip, were magnetic to be attached to cars and delivered by motorcycle, it is unconfirmed but all 3 were said to be built inside radio receivers. If this is some Mossad trained group, it's doubtful that they would seek to flee to Iran. Their names would be in public circulation before the plane landed and they could hardly expect to waltz through the airport unchallenged. Lets see what Iran does about the 4th suspect who made a home run. Surely in the interests of justice they will extradite her to Thailand? http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/investigation/280543/valentine-day-bombs-a-farce-with-deadly-implications -
House to House by David Bellavia (Staff Sgt) Story of the 2004 battle of Fallujah from the perspective of the 1st unit entering the city. Great detail of some of the most dangerous urban combat ever seen. Blocked roads, bricked up stairwells and doorways, IEDs in nearly every house. In some cases houses were filled with explosives and fuel, usually at pre-planned choke points. Grim descriptions of hand to hand fighting. It's 'tanks tracks greased with blood and guts' kind of stuff. I was also under the impression that Fallujah was a US Marine operation. Not so - the US Army played an equal part. I found the minutiae descriptions of finishing off an enemy face to face with M16 and Multitool a bit overbaked but it's a good book and well worth the read. http://www.amazon.co.uk/House-Tale-Modern-War/dp/1847391184/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329594901&sr=8-1

PELHAM replied to eble's topic in OFFTOPIC
They got that from Sky, I find it difficult to believe. Al-Qaida has done nothing but slaughter Iraqi Shia for the past 7 years. I thought that would never be forgiven but who knows? Also why do they need Al-Qaida? Iran carried out 1 bombing, 1 attempted bombing and had a 'Bangkok up' last week in 3 different capital cities so seem perfectly self sufficient. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/9085774/Iran-strengthening-ties-with-al-Qaeda-say-intelligence-chiefs.html -

Iran to make major nuclear announcement within days, Ahmadinejad says
PELHAM replied to eble's topic in OFFTOPIC
It's a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) an organisation with a similar status to the UN? Some may not agree with the ISIS website itself but the report is of the highest integrity. What adds weight to the validity of the report is the official complaint following it's appearance in public. Also breaking the terms of the NPT agreement is not limited to enriching Uranium to weapons grade. It forbids any kind of research or development of nuclear weapons. That includes explosives, neutron sources, plans, missile technology etc. For example, there is proof Iran has conducted explosive implosion experiments using HEU substitutes such as lead and tungsten. Not a hint of a radioactive substance, but it still breaks international law regarding the NPT. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Atomic_Energy_Agency http://www.isisnucleariran.org/assets/pdf/IAEA_Iran_8Nov2011.pdf
