    Learning to master the UH-1H

Runways have marks on them where lines cross the concrete. I have tried landing on specific marks. Can't get within 200 meters. Typically overshoot the mark but the most annoying thing is that I land left or right of the mark. I was flying straight. Why did I land to the left or right? I am hovering and facing north. I press the corrrect key and chopper turns right to face east hooray! I now go hands free. Why is the chopper turning to the left? My fixed wing aircraft is flying north level and steady. Then starts to turn to the left.

"Cooper fly to next waypoint" is not a tutorial. I wish to land within 200 meters of a designated spot. How do you do that? How does a helicopter pick up speed without nosing into the ground? "Bank Left" is bound to the joystick. "Left Turn" and "Left Pedal" are both bound to the same button on my joystick. "Right Turn" and "Right Pedal" are both bound to the same button on the joystick. The helicopter is constantly fighting me and trying to turn to the left. Hence I cannot fly straight and cannot aim the weapons.

There are no tutorials in game. There are tutorials on Youtube - but I am not actually flying so they are not so useful.

    Learning to master the UH-1H

As a helicopter pilot, how can i get the aircraft to fly in a straight line? It is always trying to turn to the left. In those small choppers, how do you fly and aim at a target? In a jet aircraft how do you turn? Mine spin like a dart but don't change direction.
  6. What are the meanings of "COOP" and "CTI"?

Go to the Options screen and select Aircraft Controls. Be very careful as to how you set the flying controls. I have a joystick and every aircraft is difficult to fly.
  8. Go to Armaholic and find the single player missions. Then go to the first page of these missions. The first pages were made in 2009 when Arma II was new. There are many SP missions there that use small numbers of troops. . .

    && Command

I come to the editing forum often and once every now and then something fabulous like this appears! Thanks!
  10. There is another option. Waypoints have "Placement Radius". You can give it any size radius that you wish. Then the computer selects a point at random within the circle and that point becomes the actual waypoint. Every time you play the scenario the point varies at random. .
  11. I have Operation Arrowhead patched to 1.60 together with BAF and PMC. I have no mods or add ons. I place mines across a road and run vehicles down the road. The mines do not explode. What have I missed? .
  12. In my first test I tried a number of armoured vehicles with rubber tyres and the mines failed. I have now tried vehicles with tracks and yes the mines work fine. I feel vehicles with rubber tyres should also set off the mines.
  13. There is a standalone game named “Arma2†There is another standalone game named “Arma2: Operation Arrowheadâ€. If you have both games you can merge them into one game at which point it is named “Combined Operationsâ€. Bohemia Interactive sell both games and they sell a package named “Combined Operationsâ€. The game “Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead†comes with 2 maps. One is named Takistan. A player used the game’s editor and created a scenario that he named “Sniper in Iraqâ€. The player then used some excellent third party software and filmed the scenario as he played it. It is a lot of data so he split his film into 4 parts and uploaded each part separately to Youtube. Many players have used the editor to create scenarios and some have uploaded their scenarios to web sites so that we too can play them. Some are uploaded here. Others are uploaded to a website named “Armaholicâ€. Search there and have fun! Joe
  14. In the options screen is a slider. It means that mouse movements for example can be more sensitive or less sensitive. It should work with the steering wheel too.
  15. We are on patrol and come under fire. One man is wounded. I have a medic but as we are under fire my first concern is to assess the situation. Usually my next command would be “Select Team Blue†…………….take some Action. If the wounded man is a part of Team Blue then this Action causes his wound to get worse. Suggestion: If a man is wounded he ignores all group commands. Suggestion: If a man is wounded the medic ought to move to heal that man without being ordered to do so..
  16. I see the editor has a Town Construction Set, It works well - even on un-even ground. My suggestion: A Forest Construction Set, A Grass Construction Set, A Scrub Construction Set. These could be used anywhere. In combination with the Town Construction Set would allow us amateurs to enhance maps for specific missions. .
  17. I am an EMU ("Experienced Microsoft User"). I expect the attempt would cause more problems than it is worth. Its just a game! .
  18. The developers assume we all use the standard 106 key keyboard. My suggestion is that each copy of the game comes with an especially designed 200 key keyboard. As that is impractical, I will continue…. :) Macros. I have a keyboard with extra keys that can be programmed. One key is my “emergency key†This key is at the bottom left corner so i can find it without having to look at it or search for it. If my troops come under fire unexpectedly, I press the emergency key which issues a series of orders. Select All Go prone Weapons free Form Diamond Other keys are programmed with other macros which means I can give orders very quickly. There are a lot of possible orders. All the orders are listed. In the options screen the player assigns a few orders to a key and if the key is pressed those orders are carried out in that sequence. .
  19. I bought Operation Arrowhead (“OAâ€) some 18 months before I got Arma 11 (“A2â€) I have decided not to merge the 2 games. I play both regularly. As a result the differences are vivid to me. When controlling an aircraft /vehicle, there is information on your screen about that aircraft/vehicle. In OA the information display is a whole lot better. When a soldier is carrying a weapon, the status of the weapon/ammo is shown in the top right corner. The OA display is superior to the A2 display. When commanding troops, the voice acting in OA is much improved. OA has an artillery computer. It works with mortars, artillery and any rocket launching vehicles. It is used by the operator of the weapon to fire accurately. A2 does not have this. The operator fires blind. In OA, if you are commander, and a mortar, artillery or any rocket launching vehicles are under your command, you can order the gunner to “fire at a piece of ground on the map†even if you cannot see any enemy troops. A2 does not have that. You cannot order the A2 gunner to fire at any target at all. In OA, certain soldiers carry backpacks. In action, these backpacks can be opened and contents added /removed. It means you can carry more ammo/grenades/satchels or whatever. If you are commanding men, you might split them into Team Red, Team Blue etc. In OA the methodology for selecting the men for each team is improved. In OA if you wish to “Select Team Red†to give the team an order, again the key strokes are improved. .
  20. This is Operation Arrowhead I place myself and some men on the map. One of my men is the M119 artillery piece. On patrol I can order him to shoot almost anywhere on the map. I note I can swap positions with that man and I do so. I am now operating the M119. To fire it I use the artillery computer. It seems that I can fire at some locations on the map but not others. 1. What are the criteria for the limitations of the gunner? 2. When i am the patrol commander there are (nearly) no limitations but when I am the gunner there are limitations. Why is that? . .
  21. This is Operation Arrowhead On the map I place myself, 4 riflemen and one mortar man. The mortar is positioned about 500 meters behind the rest of us. As we patrol we leave him further and further behind. As we patrol I order the mortar to shoot and he does so. However, frequently during the mission, the mortar man asks "Where are you?" Is there a way to stop him asking the question? . ---------- Post added at 10:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 PM ---------- How is this in any way related to editing ???? This is a question on issuing orders inn combat! This is not a question about the editor! .

    Weapons training scenario?

I have Operation Arrowhead, BAF and PMC Amonge them there are a number of "missions". They are a showcase for the various weapons of each faction. There are: USA Takistan Insurgents BAF PMC Civialians In each case all the weapons, vehicles and aircraft for that faction are parked and ready for use. And in every case a firing range is set up with targets so you can practise. If you study every ammo box you should be able to locate a range finder which helps in practise. . .
  23. The orders you can give are: 7-1 Stealth 7-2 Danger 7-3 Aware 7-4 Safe If the enemy shoots they automatically switch to Danger mode. If they are in Danger mode they will do the bounding overwatch thing. In the other modes they don't do that If the danger has passed you can can order Aware and they will always run to the next destination or order Safe and they will walk to the next destination . .
  24. Or place explosives in a building. As the scenario starts some civilian on the other side of the map walks through a trigger causing the explosives to go off. By the time your troops reach the building (or buildings) they are badly damaged.
  25. 1. What is the difference between "turn left" and "bank left"? 2. What is the left pedal used for? 3. Are the flaps used to assist in changing direction? 4. I now have a joystick. Turn left, Bank left, Left pedal and Left flap are all bound to the same left movement. Thoughts? /
