    Death Valley: WTF, BI

Like snpierwolf said, separate from the squad and stay left and uphill, scouting and providing covering fire for your squad from the high ground. Meet back up with the squad leader down the hill once you are out of the woods near the village. Regarding use of the drone, I searched for the spotter using the thermal camera on the drone (the spotter is seen peering through binoculars) and then put the laser on him. Within a few seconds, he was hit by an explosion (presumably some kind of laser-guided munition). There are lots of "functional easter eggs". You can end "radio silence" (much of the time) by going the large map on the easel at the briefing area, clickng on it and then use the scroll menu to "Start Briefing". I don't think this is documented anywhere but it beats having to listen to the same old lame conversations at the base.
  2. How hard would it be to locate the hilltop and shell, mortar or bomb from air, land or sea on an island that is 19 sq km? They would have to be living in tunnels and caves and such during the day to escape detection. You need to suspend your disbelief for this campaign ..

    No women at all

Its part of BI's realism thing. Because realistically, there are women at BI. :)

    [SP/CO-05] Operation Desert Panther

This is a great mission. I played it SP. Very immersive and the final clearing out of the town and hostage rescue is great.
  5. Some questionable tactics ... for example, squad leader leads you into a gully right below a paratroop ambush (you see them falling and setting up) and you have to Rambo it out, head-to-head and outnumbered, against the paras. You would think making a break for the coastline would be the best route (flanking attack options limited and the option to take some higher ground and outflank the enemy). Try to break towards the coastline and you get smucked by a mortar round (or so it seems). At the end, I'm running to the rescue boats and getting shot at from behind .... the boat's vulcan cannon gunner is daydreaming like he's on a cruise instead of providing me with covering fire. No wonder the "Greenies" are wiping the floor with BLUEFOR.

At least a few "exotic" weapons?

Do binoculars or range-finders count? Because they seem to be "exotic" by the standard of Arma 3 loadouts.

At least a few "exotic" weapons?

But their summer/beach/holiday sense of fashion is stuck in waaaaay back in 2012.

    Authenticity and Arma 3

This has been discussed a lot ... here is an article mainly about EA/DICE Battlefield and some mention of Danger Close Games' Medal of Honor ... http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/20/technology/this-is-war-for-a-game-industrys-soul.html It mentions how far-reaching attempts at authenticity in Mil FPS has become a "dead end". Do people agree or disagree that for BIS given the choice of introducing more authenticity/playability/entertainment value into Arma3, authenticity would probably be the lowest priority?
  9. Hi, Anyone know if or where this is available? Has it been retired/broken by BIS Arma 3 updates, or has the author removed it from public circulation? It looks good and I'd like to try it out. I'm tired of fumbling around doors! Thanks!

    Authenticity and Arma 3

Unfortunately for those children, I don't think video games are any more of a trigger than the parenting (or lack thereof), Social Media, TV, movies, books or their surroundings or inborn psychological issues.

    Authenticity and Arma 3

There is a limit to realism/authenticity ... in most millitaries, a majority of time is spent sitting around. :) Ultimately, Arma 3 is a video game (despite claims made to the contrary) and people buy videogames to be entertained. I see your point, but I think people DO need to dis-associate these games from reality (with or without without changing realism and authenticity)- it is unsettling to me (just me) that people would use a video game as a moral compass. Just as I (and normal/well-adjusted young children) know that dropping an anvil on someone or hitting them with a large mallet is considered humorous on a Sunday morning cartoon, it is not something you do in the real world.

An amusing take on Arma 3 from an Iranian (not me)

It has also made its way across the oceans into American English as "dush, man" (sometimes spelt "douche").:)

CSAT and NATO are not believable

Really? How about the Macedonean/Greek Conquest (332–323 BC), The Roman Empire's Germanic Wars East of the Rhine (9 CE to 50 CE), Hunnic Empire (437-469), Mongol Conquests (1206-1337), the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783), Boer War (1899-1902) to name just a few from history? All match the definition of asymmetric warfare. "Asymmetric warfare can describe a conflict in which the resources of two belligerents differ in essence and in the struggle, interact and attempt to exploit each other's characteristic weaknesses. Such struggles often involve strategies and tactics of unconventional warfare, the weaker combatants attempting to use strategy to offset deficiencies in quantity or quality.[1] Such strategies may not necessarily be militarized.[2] This is in contrast to symmetric warfare, where two powers have similar military power and resources and rely on tactics that are similar overall, differing only in details and execution." Asymmetric conflict has existed for as long as there have been people.

Could we have destructible Shutters inside of houses?

I recall Arma2 had a melee mod, so its not out of the question. Someone also made an Arma3 mod in Alpha that allowed you to knock down/kill someone silently with a blow (eg by sneaking up behind them) I think the same mod included functionality to move/push/flip objects around Armasphere. So the question is "Will BI actually make these features available?". If the past is any indication, the answer seems to be "probably not". I suppose they have their own reasons (like conflicts with other features of the game or features of the engine or the catch-all of many issues on this forum - "Physx"). Would be interesting to know the reasoning for excluding these features which we know, in principle, can be applied to the game.

Could we have destructible Shutters inside of houses?

Would be nice to have melee mode to break glass (like BF) and fragile objects, like shutters. Shooting out a shutter is a no-no in the real world as it would give your concealment and position away and waste precious ammo. Would also be nice to be able to push stuff to barricade doors, windows, gaps in walls etc. But I imagine that such things would be transient in the game - I suspect at some point, it would be lot of work for the engine to permanently keep track of every object moved here, there and everywhere in the Armaverse.

    ARMA III & Steam WORKSHOP

Put it in and other people will salg you for lack of realism in your (free) missions or being a BF fanboy. Respawn IMHO takes away from immersion ... auto game save is the way to go. Turning music off is another thing I do.

    Tweaking AI shooting skills

I have a related question - Can the Mission Maker set skill and accuracy levels independent of the user Settings? I assume this is set somewhere for MP/PvP Missions with AI. I find that sometimes one mission is too easy and I'm like Rambo walking among the bad guys and and then I fire up another mission and get my butt kicked by AI super-enemies in the first minute without changing my settings at all. What could be the source of this type on inconsistency?
  21. Realistically speaking, there hasn't been a large-scale naval engagement in open water in over 70 years. Long range strike aircraft and long-range guided missiles have made them irrelevant. Small scale naval operations continue ... carrier-based airstrike, anti-piracy, hostage rescue, anti-smuggling, infiltration, counter-infiltration and anti-human trafficking operations are what preoccupies a lot of real navies in the real world these days. I think a few walkable open water drilling platforms would be a great addition to Arma III. A war of the future would probably include the seizure of drilling platforms. Submarine cat-and-mouse games and counter submarine warfare would also be another type of mission.

Scope glare, but no bipods or weapon resting. Simulation Fever at its best.

night seeing ai arma 3 need help!!!!!

Turn your enemy precision and skill wayyy down, see how that goes and then put it up slowly if you find it too easy. Much easier to learn from things that are too easy than too hard. it seems that mission makers can override (to some degree) the difficulty setting of the user to make the AIs dumb or Robokillers.
  24. Fron the metacritic website regarding Arma 2 : "ARMA 2 doesn't seem to be a finished game. The AI is cheating, physics and controls are out of date and the game is full of annoying bugs. That the game manages to look great from time to time doesn't help much. " Where have we heard this before?

    Where is the Game?

You may have legitimate complaints, speaking for yourself. But quite frankly, I don't have a problem with either the medical system or the AI level at regular (using your examples). But I do see the threads with pages and pages of complaints all by users who, for their purposes, have legitimate complaints. In the end, for me, its just a game in which I am perfectly capable/comfortable and adapted to and none of this has ruined my enjoyment of it. None. Note that I say "me" and "I" and not "we" and "us".
