I hate the iron sights too, but if you use US weapons in I44, try the legendary BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) that fires a .30-06 round. It is awesome. Set it to auto and use short bursts. It will not disappoint.

What patch level? 1.08 (the latest) was a disaster for me, freezing and BSOD, so I went back to 1.07.

Glad I'm not the only one struggling with this. But I do know this ... you can't give general advice (search the Power Plant or the Quarry) because what you find differs depending on how the AI handles the sequence of events. Like everyone else, finished the mission, but Lopotev got away. I found the character's speech sound comes and goes at different points in the mission (I'm at Combined Ops 1.07/1.55). Also I think its kind of funny how the Marine voice acting characters accents vary from Ebonic/Afro-American (very authentic) to obviously English to what sounds like a hint of South African English. A Hispanic accent would probably be more authentic in the mix. Are voice actors really that expensive? I'd do it for free if I thought I could do a decent job. Also, what language are the Chernarussians speaking? Is it Russian?

On my system copy/paste/rename (15 Gb) is much faster than doing a reinstall. But I don't have any mods or addons, so I can see that impacting the speed if you have many Gb of mods and other addons. Does uninstall/reinstall play nice with mods and other add-ons?

Some doable scenarios based on current environments - -Arab (Syria/Egypt/Palestinians/Hezbollah) Israeli (US/possibly Lebanese militia) conflict in Lebanon or the Palestinian Territories. Could use Takistan/Desert - North Korea and South Korea (basically China versus USA), Chenarus/Utes with building modifiations as the DMZ. - Iran versus Israel. War begins with Israeli first strike on Iran's nuclear facilities (modified Takistan/Desert), the Middle East on the brink of nuclear war - China versus USA/Taiwan, might require a new subtropical island - Russia versus US (NATO) battle over Arctic and its resources, from Scandinavia to Greenland to Alaska to Siberia

Or before you run the patch, exit all programs and do a copy/paste of folder C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive which will create a new folder C:\Program Files\Copy of Bohemia Interactive If you need to go back, re-name C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive to (for example) C:\Program Files\Bad Patch Bohemia Interactive and re-name C:\Program Files\Copy of Bohemia Interactive to C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive you will get your old patch level back. You can delete the "Bad Patch" version once you verify you are back to the original state. You don't have to worry about your saved and completed mission states as they are store in your local "My Documents" folder.

Hello I'm a new guy & this is my first post. I installed Arma II and OA (Combined Ops) from DVD and updated straight to 1.07/1.54. Everything was fine for the last few weeks. A couple of days ago, I updated to 1.08/1.55. Now the system freezes after 15-30 min of play, and then goes into a Blue Screen of Death. Now I'm back to 1.07/1.54 (thank goodness for backups - just make a copy of the BI folder in Program Files before installing) and its fine again. The worst problem is that any mission progress you save while in the 1.08/1.55 is not readable by the older patch systems (incompatability), so you are screwed over saves in the new system unless you get the newer patch working. But I'm fine with 1.07/1.54 for now. My System: No mods or add-ons. WinXP-32 3.2 GHz Duo Core 4 Gb RAM ATI 8450 1Gb 500 Gb SATA Disk
