Kashmir was an independant state but decided to join the union of India instead of Pakistan this now legally makes it Indian territory and has been so since the birth of Modern India and Paksitan. There have been no demands or seccesion movements from the kashmiri's so granting it independence is a moot point...it's like askin Poland to give up Warsaw ---------- Post added at 11:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:47 AM ---------- @Vilas If you discover a way un-Brainwash extremists please do let us know. As for French muslims...the French have banned the Muslim women in France to wear a hijab or a burqa which is the traditional dress of Arab muslims and is mandatory by islamic law...The french muslim women have protested against this as this encroaches upon their right to practice their religion. The French government has made a very heavy handed and insensitive decision regarding a peoples religion. It's like forcing a Sikh to cut his hair and not wear turbans...or banning the Jewish skull-cap. Given your sensitive/ Hippie love inclination I thought you would sympathise with the local Muslim population. As for the Muslims not integrating...well they seem to be doing just fine here in India.

@Vanha I guess intensive intelligence operations and quick raids by SF personnel on leadership figures ought to do it. Cut the local populace off from the insurgents and use propaganda to influence the locals...constructing wells, drains, bridges and hospitals isnt such a bad idea. propaganda reminds me of a incident in Kashmir that occured awhile back. There were reports that some infiltrators had crossed the LOC and were in holed in the villages in the srinagar valley. The Indian army and the local police forces cordoned off the area and started making announcements that the "fidyeen have AIDS". The very same evening the forces were tipped of about the militant locations by the local women! and then the army called in their CI ops specialist Mr. Carl "84 mm" Gustaf to coerce the terrorists into reaching Allah

@Vanha 1. Hell No!! Nobodys droppin playboys on those assholes! it's such a waste! btw if you do give them a playboy the LAST thing on their mind would be suicide ;) 2. As for dealin with religious zealots : experiments have shown that severe trauma to the head in the form of a bullet or massive bombardment do bring about a change in peoples attitude...so does nuking them while listening to Wagner's Valkyires.

Ahh...the Vacuum strategy...nice, ensures chaos, confusion, general bewilderment and bed-wetting in the enemy. Hehehehe :) dont know wether I should be offended or not..well if you jackasses could get your shit together and learn a lil bout IT you wouldnt be calling in Indian tech support now wouldya! :p naa just kidding. You: "HE..Oscar Tango 150..Fire-for-effect" me: "Myself shobhit. OK. Thank you come again!" * starts dancing to bollywood music No seriously. regarding India's motives....well, a majority ( a LARGE majority) would love to steamroll Pakistan (and we have some really GOOD reasons too) but I think that could work in our favor as we sure would be dedicated. And let's not discuss motives as long as the US is involved. The thing is with US pressure it would be easier to corner Pakistan and dismantle the jihadi infrastructure..if India tried anything on it's own (apart from covert action) we'd get a nice mushroom cloud for breakfast..courtesy Pakistan. Pak would never nuke or take overtly hostile action with the presence of US troops.
-
The thing is that the terror networks in Af-Pak have a tremendous effect on India and we have every reason imaginable to Nuke everything west of us! the sheer loss of human lives due to terrorist activity is horrendous. Now I am not talking about the AMERICAN campaign, I beleive that that US intelligence has made up the whole Al-Qaeda thing to use as a scapegoat, a reason to plant boots on ground in Afghanistan just like they did in Iraq. Steve Coll's book "ghost wars" has shed light on how the US let go Osama B. Laden on several occasions despite of him being implicated in anti US activites. The evidence of sabotage (explosive demolition of the towers) during 9/11 further compunds the theory that the US just needed a foreign attack to raise Public opinion and invade Afghanistan. But in this case there have been legitimate terror attacks on Indian soil so dont you think it is justified?
-
@HyperU2 So you have no views regarding the topic? absolutely no opinions? come on lets hear em. You could argue against my points and that would probably..maybe..raise my Blood pressure a lil ;) ---------- Post added at 10:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:20 AM ---------- What do you think of India's involvement? and please refrain from getting into a dirt slinging match with Hyper. I'd like your opinions on the thread topic

@Vilas I respect and also understand your views on India's non-involvement in the ongoing conflict and also your criticism of the hypocrisy of US foreign policy but sometimes measured violence is needed to achieve a higher goal, in this case regional stability and development. There were several projects in Afghanistan during the Taliban reign to introduce education apart from the usual quranic studies but this was brutally repressed by the Talibs, which is ironic considering that Taliban literally means "students". The thing is that an ideology or beliefs is nigh impossible to eradicate. The Taliban can only be defeated through constant military effort and by cutting off their recruitment pool through development of Afghanistan. Like I said the monetary gains in the long term if regional stability was to be achieved in Af-Pak for all countries involved is tremendous! Sometimes you just have to take action. Now getting back on topic. Dont you think that India's involvement would hasten things and lead to the end of the conflict sooner and if so dont you think that it's worth it?

You know when Im debating with friends and family and when the topic comes to America almost everyone starts condemning the US for it aggressive expansionist foreign policy calling it Imperialism. I ALWAYS defend the US by saying that what if India was a superpower..or China..or Russia you think they would behave any different? it is a country's prerogative to maintain supremacy but to do it within certain parameters respecting sovereign powers and human rights. It comes off hypocritical and hollow when Barrack Obama talks about Freedom, Peace and chocolate unicorns while there are US troops in Iraq, I do not blame the US in trying to extend its geopolitical reach through strategic presence in the mid-east. It's looking out for itself. But let it be known that empire building has not been viewed with kindness. It is natural for the US to flex it's Muscles but a really strong Nation interested in "world peace" (CHEESE BOMB!) would show constraint and more responsibility when it comes to deploying its forces. I believe that the US has been callous in the way it has approached foreign conflicts. I am inclined to believe They did not send troops to Liberia mostly because that geographical are was of no strategic concern to them. If the US really wants to be a world player then it should HELP Pakistan back to it's feet...engage in military and diplomatic talks with the BRIC countries to create a Nexus of stable and powerful countries instead of invading whatevers next on their 'To-Invade' list ;) But let us get back to the topic..How do you see Indo-US (if any) inovolvement in the anti-terror campaign 2 years down the line? ---------- Post added at 05:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:01 AM ---------- Which is precisely what you are doing. Either counter his point with a valid argument or stop posting inflammatory remarks, please. Thanks

If such is the case why doesnt the US pressure Pakistan into dismantling terror training camps across the LOC in the north? why does it not insert its forces into pakistan to take more DA against the Terror networks as Pakistan apparently cannot (willnot) handle it..I mean both Pak and US have a long hstory of cooperation then why does not the US get more directly involved in Pak? Coup? The situation is Pakistan is perfect for the Military junta to maintain control. The pakistani Military is the administrative backbone over there and is also the largest Political party. They have democratic governance as a tool to keep the public and the world complacent "look nice stable democracy!" its a brilliant Maskirovka on their part. Its safe to say that the only organisation able to undertake a coup is actually pretty happy with the way things are. ---------- Post added at 09:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:04 PM ---------- Failing? how is that may I ask. The infitration routes in the North have been stemmed, the insurgent parties in the NE are conducting ceasefires and peace talks thanks to Indian military pressure, and the successful tackling of maoist threats in the centre although with initial failure (some HUGE ones) but all in all it has been a succesful campaign. So I would like you to elaborate on your point ---------- Post added at 09:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:10 PM ---------- The benefits would be enormous! A concentrated effort by both India and the US would likely destroy the terror nexus within pakistan within 3 years! imagine the costs saved by us (India) when we can pull away our paramilitary and army forces from stop-gap duties on the border...we would save millions in maintainence funds!! these very funds could be diverted to rural development programs and other more important areas. The amount of manpower freed from CI ops and the money saved would be immeasurable in the future. So spending some money now to eradicate extremism would save millions, possible billions every nation involved! the US could actually invest more in the development of afghanistan with the savings. As for "helping" out our neighbours (pak) well, we'd love to! ---------- Post added at 09:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:18 PM ---------- Sri Lanka was a botched operation by any standards..something akin to India's own Somalia, but on a larger scale. That was just ANOTHER foreign country policing gone wrong. The events in Sri Lanka would not have had a direct impact on the internal security of India. But the recent spate of events do have an impact on our National security, so in this case if helping rebuild afghanistan and eradicating extremist presence there helps in India then why not? ---------- Post added at 09:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:25 PM ---------- @ Vilas Dude, I agree with your opinions on the US's "foreign policing" policy and that is probably the biggest reasons why they draw a lot of flak. They should mind their own business but in a uni-polar world with the US as the current super-power it has no other option but intervene in foreign matters where ASKED to. India did not just land in Sri Lanka it was asked by the locally elected government to intervene. But the paper thin reasons that the US government gave to invade Iraq and then storm into Afghanistan really destroys their credibilty in the world's eyes. You have the biggest gun so show some restraint. All this just leads me to belive that US is transforming into The EMPIRE from the peaceful REPUBLIC a la STAR WARS ;) Second, I am slightly offended by your views of India. Sure we have poverty here, sure there are slums but it does not portray the whole of India. we have a come a long way in the past 60 years (we were independent of British rule 60 yrs ago). I do not deny the existence of social problems in India but I also would not like everyone to think that it's as bad as the media portrays it to be. I have seen numerous net videos and Tv programs showcasing obese, ignorant Americans...but do I base my opinions of Americans on these portrayals? Absolutely not! No country is almost completely composed of Intelligent athletic persons! As for wasting money refer to my posts above to see why it would be a cost effective operation in the long run..also the Indian involvement would be limited to Special forces operations and intelligence operations...not a full blown conventional war!

Indian Special Forces units Hi I would like to include some units of the Indian army para-commandos and RR COIN units involved in Kashmir in certain custom missions. I would like to know if it is possible to edit in-game BI soldier models without any legal ramifications. I apologise in advance if I am asking a question in the wrong forum or if this has been asked before. Here are some pics of Indian special forces. Could you help me out by notifying me in-game units (arma 2 and OA) or any user made units that are remotely similar to these so that Itll be easier to edit them? Thanks ---------- Post added at 04:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:51 AM ---------- Pictures of Indian special forces..Note: the bandana, the TAR-21 assault rifles and the 'Patka' Helmets (the circular band around some units head) also the unique camo patter, dont know what it's called 1.http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_o_no4M2xEP...659-722072.JPG 2.http://www.network54.com/Forum/21183...ommando+Images 3.http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/9121/gtk1qz2.jpg ---------- Post added at 04:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:16 AM ---------- http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/6407/paracdove3.jpg heres another of army para-commandos, the weapons are Czech Vz 58s -
@ Col. Stagler That sounds awesome. Sounds authentic, I dont know what an authentic spec op is but I guess that's would be pretty close. Im thinking if the mission could be divided into two parts. The UC operators infiltrate the town in the evening and meet with their informant who informs them of a Mujj sympathiser. The UC operatives must locate and tail him to the main Mujj operating base within the village, while maintaining their cover then after nightfall sneak into the compound and plant IR beacons help direct missile strikes and then provide BDA. The main objective is to remain stealthy throughout. I am also thinking of UC operators during the soviet invasion of afghanistan...you could be an undercover SAS or US army SF operator attached with a Mujjahideen unit to hamper soviet combat operations in an area. Could you also help me out with scripting and the technicals of mission making as I am a complete and utter n00b when it comes to coding. Right now the only useful script I have is that I can make my guys remain undetected until they fire off a shot. But I might require futher help... BTW I checked out your Links and loved the Rise up and jack of clubs missions....downloading. Must say the mission design and descriptions are impressive Thanks for the input man! ---------- Post added at 06:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:05 PM ---------- I forgot to credit the forum members who gave me the UC script aeggwards1 and kylania these guys were really helpful

@ Militant Thanks man :) will do. Meanwhile do you have any suggestions regardin what an interesting UC mission would be?
-
Will do..i am currently in the mission planning phase...the thing is my scripting abilities are on par with a 2 yr old :) but once I can flesh out a mission and it's requirements I can probably ask some other forum members to help out with the coding bit...as of now I am able to disguise my UC guys but their cover is blown when they fire off a shot (thanks to the guys that provided me with the scripts) Love the "botched" assassination idea!! blow up the wrong car....loud messy attack...clear evidence of rival faction (leave equipment like kalashnikovs...heck plant a dead body from the other faction..it could be a sub-mission! kidnap a guy/guys from faction A mount an attack on faction B leave dead body(ies) of guy from B. awesome!

@gouapsy that actually sounds pretty good Im thinking that a team is inserted a couple of miles from an opium trafficking point (they get vehicles coming in from all over and then redistribute it from there) then they have to neutralize the CP, disguise themselves as the taliban, ambush the incoming supply, replace the drivers and the crew and proceed to another drop-off point at the af-pak border to a larger opium depot to really cause some damage...thanks for the anti-opium ideas guys its something different from the run of the mill HR missions and blow-up-the-radar stations......the kind of scenarios im looking for is UC operatives staking out a large town and marking targets....making HVT snatches....meeting informants and then infiltrating guerilla groups. real intel ops ---------- Post added at 05:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 PM ---------- how about operators disguised as taliban making attacks on rival guerilla factions to incite a conflict between the two

@Zothen That is possibly the best scenario i have ever heard of... a team of Ken spec-op troops (accessories included) on a mission to save barbies awesome no seriously man anything apart from the usual hostage rescue...

Undercover Units
shobhit replied to aeggwards1's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
@MOSTLY Thanks for the ideas man. I think the concealed weapons thing would definately work but two problems here 1. I cant script to save my life :) 2. It doesnt sound very flexible. Id prefer an ON/OFF switch of sorts. Weapons out BLOWN!! weapons in SAFE. But that raises the question as to what does the AI do after the weapon has been concealed. Eg; you're undercover, you take out a suppressed M9 to pop a sentry the other guard spots you but you quickly conceal the pistol and the AI goes back to normal "undetected routine". So we need a robust weapon concealment script. Im guessing a system that incorporates the proximity detection with weapons drawn. Is it possible to play around with the line of sight of the AI?? I guess this involves a HUGE amount of scripting for now I would settle for a normal "draw weapons-AI freaks out" script. Thanks again for the ideas though!! :) -

I also have a few more questions regarding UC operators 1. Concealed weapons: is it possible for the operators to conceal a supressed pistol or SMG and blow their cover when drawn? 2. Can anyone figure out a way to make a UC script which has all the elements like being in cover with concealed weapons and also maintaining a certain distance from some OPFOR units to avoid detection If anyone can help it would be of great help cause I have a scenario in my head that I cant get out which involves some close target recon and target identification by UC followed by directed airstrikes and a raid by 'heavy' SF guys -

@ Demo man I did check it out but ( I know this sounds stupid) I coudnt fiure out how to assign a name to the group and besides I found the method mentioned here to be easier. Like I said my scripting is weak an this is an understatement. But thanks for postin the links man appreciate it. PS i still could use a lil help with the name assignments :) -

Hi I have absolutely no idea as to how I can add the fired event handler, I have gone to all the wikis and the forums but cant make much sense of the techno babble ( im am utterly clueless when it comes to coding) but I really want to make a couple of missions featuring undercover operatives. In this regard couldya show exactly how you got the AI to react to your shots? Thanks
