  1. Well F-15s, AV8s and F-35Bs were taken down also. I'm just using the editor and not writing any scripts. My mistake, the escort isn't civilian, it's actually for Santa which is BLUFOR, so technically it's still BLUFOR planes versus OPFOR planes. Do I have to script them to engage the russian planes automatically? Or is there a team setting like a stance?


  2. I wanted to give a civilian plane(player controlled) an escort of 2 fighter jets. I can get the planes to follow me fine but the problem is they aren't doing their job. When I fly towards Su-34s I've set up to intercept us, we all get taken down immediately. I gave the enemies zero skill and my escort full skill, but that didn't change anything. One time I told an A-10 to engage the Su-34, and it just followed it forever. What should I do?


  3. It's a side objective in that mission. As competitors will do it if you're not in time, it's not something you're required to do to pass the mission. Getting there in time is the tricky part, and designed to be hard. You're forced to make a choice - go safe and slow, or fast and get the optional objective? Doing both I think is not possible.

    Later you might find situations you can't beat, yet the campaign will continue. Or if you don't pay attention to what's happening around you, you go like me "yay, I beat the game", soon to be followed by a "no wait, WHAT?" :D

    So some of this games "continue mechanics" isn't always the same as in most other games.

  4. It's possible, but it is tough. Took me a couple of tries. You have to get a bead on exactly where the sniper is, that's the tough part. Once you do it's easy to beat the 'competition'...

    The thing is I'm using Zeus's AI mod. Did the developers make this mission task based on how smart the AI were so using even smarter AI makes the game unplayable? How does that make any sense?!


  5. In Red Harvest, you all know there's a task to kill a sniper. Is it a scripted mission and completely dynamic because I keep running out of time. Even when I get close, a friendly AI takes the sniper out before me. If it's dynamic, that would mean getting to the sniper before another unit is based on luck??


  6. Hey again, ACE guys. Since I can't seem to get ACE to play nice with the vanilla missions like the campaign and bootcamp, are there any ACE specific user created missions you'd recommend to a beginner? I need to learn the ropes somehow before I play online. What are the best sp missions you've played? Also, what's the most popular set of addons you guys use along with ACE in combined ops? It seems the addon guide on the ACE wiki is really outdated, and lots of them are incompatible with OA.

    Well 1.5 allows me to save which is great, but if I try to land on the carrier I usually blow up compared to vanilla, where it would usually stop me as if I were using a hook. Maybe it was a glitch, but a glitch that I liked. VTOL works fine, but trying to land normal, I just roll off the edge.

    I got some thing wrong here.

    You are getting what every one else does when running ACE just a drop of about 2-3fps.

    Is that test where ya got 13fps the one at night? if so its a taxing test I think a lot of peeps get around that I did I got about 22fps tbh.

    44-50 frame difference I can understand, but 13 to 21 is basically cutting my frames in half. Yeah that particular benchmark is taxing, but why? it's not the explosions, because obviously there's less of them. Maybe it's how the damage is calculated? Something with the AI? Will using a different AI mod help the frames? it runs so nice in Vanilla lol.

    Umm, I'm also getting CTDs when I try to load save files...yeaaaah ACE is unplayable until that's fixed. Is it due to using ACEX also?

    tbh mate i have done so much testing and every thing I am told to do makes no diff even though according to sickboy etc it should like cutting scripts etc.

    Do you have a RAID 0 setup? even if its not the hard drive ACE is on etc?.

    Any ways I is still working on it as when i can to figure this ass out hahaha.

    BTW I dont get half FPS with ACE I loose about 12 fps consistently.

    Even removing the @ACE stuff makes no diff really.

    Just a thought you running ACE using BETA if so do a benchmark without ACE using the nnone BETA EXE then do same test using ACE with none BETA EXE and report what ya get here.

    I'm using CO 1.54 on Steam, and I've just updated ACE mod with Yoma Addon Sync. I've just run the tests, both with sound mods. I've yet to defrag after installation.

    With @CBA,@ACE, @ACEX, @ACEX_RU, @ACEX_USNavy:

    Arma 2 Benchmark 01 - 44 fps

    Arma 2 Benchmark 02 - 13 fps

    Operation Arrowhead Benchmark - 48 fps

    Vanilla:

    Arma 2 Benchmark 01 - 50 fps

    Arma 2 Benchmark 02 - 21 fps

    Operation Arrowhead Benchmark - 51 fps

    You see the most difference with Arma 2, and since I wanted to play the Red Harvest campaign, that's important to me so I'd like to know what's causing these performance hits.


  9. I'm a little retarded here, so I don't understand how to do it. If anyone can help me get my CO to work, I'll do whatever you say, even if I have to lose my virginity.

    All I had to do was install the mod folders:

    CBA v0-6-0

    ACE 1.5

    ACEX 1.5

    ACEX_RU

    ACEX_USNavy

    Then I made a backup of the combined ops batch file, made a new one just in case and edited this line:

    -mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca;@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX;@ACEX_USNavy;@ACEX_RU"

    Hope this helps. ACE users, I have a few more questions. What is it in a nutshell about ACE that's cutting my frames in half on the A2 Benchmark 02? Is ACE really CPU intensive or is the benchmark itself just horrible?


  10. When you hit an armoured vehicle with an AT weapon there's no guarantee it'll penetrate the ERA+passive armour and if it does there's no guarantee it'll actually hit anything important.

    Apart from the T72 and older tanks, you'll see massive explosions very rarely.

    It just doesn't make sense when a vehicle turns into a skeletal frame without any explosion. Thanks for the information though, I'm glad I installed it right. I'm probably not ready for the realism this mod offers.
