  1. No proof was really needed. Sarmat always said that all models and textures were not theirs. They had permission in most cases I believe, but I can't vouch for that. If there are no theft issues then I see no reason to crucify them. They certainly can do whatever they want. Conversion is certainly a fast way to fame, but is still an integral and necessary part of this community (for example some add ons just deserve to pass through to the next generations of ArmA) The problem is that if it was XX's add-on for arma it shouldn't automatically become YY's add-on for arma2 as it sadly does in some cases.

    Carried on from OFP? Seriously, look at the MiG-31 in their video. I highly doubt thats even based upon something from OFP.

    Same goes for their Tu 95, Tu 160 and Tu 22. It could be something out of Flight Simulator X or some other 3D model if you want to deny the possibility they did it on their own, but still, these things look so good in their videos there must have been a lot of work involved.


  2. Ololol, some things never change i see, i just want the addon no matter where its from or if permissions were given.

    Personally i rather have one original completely custom made addon instead of 5 converts.

    Sarmat has some talented folks so why isnt it possible to make something from scratch instead?

    If the original maker agrees a convert is ok i guess, i didnt follow the topic enough to know if permissions were given or not, yet nothing better than to make something directly for the ArmA engine instead of just converting it.

    Hm I actually prefer five converts to one completly custom made...If they are made well :D

    But seriously, especially MiG-25 and MiG-31 in the video dont look converted, and if they are, they must have put weeks of work in them nontheless. Complete and perfect cockpit, all the advanced texturing, the model finetuning...

    Also the guys who started the "witch-hunt" in this thread never gave any proofs, it was just pages and pages of hollow accusations. So I can understand if the SARMAT-guys are pissed at the community here, although I hope they change their mind.


  3. Thanks guys, sure did have fun in Italy... nice sightseeing roadtrip around Lago di Garda and Verona :)

    I'm running a tight schedule to get everything ready for the release. Its been planned for the end of this week, but I doubt all tests will be complete... lets wait for a day or two to see how the things get sorted out in the mean time.

    Please, can we see some screenshots of the MiG-21? Or at least info about its armament?


  4. The two almost completed Versions were the 'Tie Fighter and Tie- Interceptor.

    without the release of the 'Tie Pilot and something to fight I put the ties on the back burner.

    The original OFP addon had several more versions and I never finsihed those, but they are working etc.

    The Lasers were very experimental, I used to play Xwing vs Tiefighter (an old but very good game) and I based the lasers on that, but the Arma2 engine has it's own limitations.

    I'll have a another quick look and see if an Alpha release doable.

    Ah thanks. Uh whats the problem with the tracers? I liked the way they were in OFP, and as far as I know ArmA II actually allows tracers to be definied more advanced then in OFP.

    EDIT: Ah excuse me. The ones in OFP where rockets. They looked cool there, but I figure in ArmA they would be ugly because no proper glowing effect could be applied. (Yeah I know, EVERYTHING glows in ArmA 2, but I meant that special laser-glow...You know what I mean :D)


  5. I'm a member of the web site were they post there stuff. in they have not said anything about not releasing there stuff. So I would wait to close this thread until one of the team members says other wise. As far as I know there still working on these planes.

    That would be awesome, good news.

    However I dont know if Deans source was telling the truth, but the planes in the videos do indeed look complete....And most of them are over a year old, why havent we heard anything from them?


  6. This is OT i guess but the Ties completed so far are the Tie Fighter and Tie Interceptor (still to finish quad laser), they have spec/normal and super shaders applied.

    I want to add a basic HUD (similiar to the F-14).

    The addon has another 8 different weird and wonderful tie fighters all fly but are missing animations (some) and weapons.

    I'll be sending a copy to McRuppert tonight/day depending where you are.

    Maybe its time for another thread, but what about the "finished" TIEs?

    @McRuppert: Id be happy to apply the new helmet to the old scout trooper model. Just need the helmet MLODs.


  7. This is a WIP/tempting post (tempting as in tempting others to do something, its not a request! :p).

    Please do not quote images or videos!

    Part of my random guided weapons pack that is not really a serious project but more of a "push it to the limit" style suit of scripts... Its a 9M330 for the SA-15 Gauntlet SAM system (aka Tor M1). All its lacking at the moment is textures for the missile... and *ahem* a 9K330 launcher vehicle... ;)

    I reaaaaaaaalllly have my hands in too many cookie jars now...! :butbut:

    Yeah SAM-systems belong to the most requested in this thread, but no one does one. I have a SA-2 modell I did from OFP times, and in the "Uncomplete addons" thread someone gave away another SA-2 modell, but no 9K330 launcher vehicles Im afraid.

Yeah both C&C Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert had some successful vehicles..HMMWV, Buggy, M1A1, M2A2, Jeep, AH-64A, AH-64D, CH-47 aaand so on.

    Ah Command & Conquer...LOVED the GDI / NOD universe, until the storyline took some LSD pills in part 3. (or 4? I dont know. Something about Aliens.) Really lost interest then. And the newest part is supposed to be even worse, both story- and gameplaywise.

    But enough offtopic.

    lets stop hijacking this thread to show off the stuff you guys have ported without getting permissions first... this is the same reason BI wont release MLODs

    Learn to read. We have permission for the MiG-15. And both the A4 and the Su-17 work in the way the screenshots show if you copy them in the ArmA 2 addons folder.


  10. Oh a Nod apache..you know I hadn't actually thought of that..perhaps a dark grey for the alpha and a sort of urban camo for a delta, similar style to the JGSDF longbow or perhaps a mix of that and the Israeli scheme.

    NodUnit doesnt think about Nodunits. :rolleyes:

    But Tores idea is actually nice, if I remember correctly the first GDI/NOD Command & Conquer featured indeed some real vehicles, like the Apache, unlike the successors who went full-scfi.


  11. I took a look at that. The skins are ok but still can be better. All the VTE stuff is Binarized and the model can not be edited. The A4 I posted can be edited and new textures would have to be made (:yay:-martin-:yay:).

    As for getting a hold of Klink I have tried afew times already and have had no luck. Placebo has also tried to get ahold of him for me and still no luck. I will work on the A4 for another week then if I still don't get an answer from klink I will send it out to -martin- so he can check the config work and start new textures. That will satisfy the rules about porting addons as that will make it about 5 months of trying.

    On another note Mondkalb has given me the ok for the Cessna 182 he did for ARMA1.

    Can someone try and get intouch with Rygugu? I have tried his web page but have had no luck in reading it much less finding a contact point for him. Link: http://b-design.blog.ocn.ne.jp/log/ . This would be another good one for us as it would look good in reskins for the diferent factions. I have also added set texture points on it so you can add your own custom "tank art" on it (big thanks to MBG for that).

    No, I did not even ask yet :D But Franze should be available if someone wants to ask him for permission to work on a a ported version.

    And yeah, I fixed the texture bug, but now I get an error message about some missing vertices. Well I know very little about ArmA2 texturing anyway, Im more into modelling.


  13. Now that work on the mig is almost done it might be time to get to work on the next Aircraft. I got this A4 working fine in game.

    Hm I think the reskins look pretty shit, its old OFP style. As is the cockpit. If you want an A4 ask the VTE guys, their ArmA 1 A4 has already some more advanced textures, and a better cockpit.

    Another great plane is Franzes Su-17, it works in ArmA 2, but you cant look through the cockpit glass. Easy texture fix.

  14. Please stop the spamming.

    Alright Martin is gonna post a fixed version of the MiG-15 soon. That means, you are gonna get a high quality addon, with all the source files needed to edit any aspect of it, and of course all the permission to do so.

    I dont think something like this was given the community before, a top-notch unbinarized addon. That means if you want to get into editing yourself, you have the chance to look at every aspect of a complete addon, to learn how it works.

The thread he wants? :smile: But we already have the source anyway so it's no problem (We will release the MLOD with all source files in this thread once the addon is complete if Bdfy wants it). Now I'm working on the Chernarus skins for the Mig-15, gonna post some screenies today in the evening. When you speak to Bdfy again tell him my thanks for his support with this addon please :cheers:

    Post it or send it to me via pn. I have both rapidshare and megaupload premium accounts, and when Ill get the sourcefiles for the MiG-15 Ill update the startpost and make a list.

    Thanks to Neil Wilson & RobertHammer, I added the SA-2

    Im in contact with Wass, who will get the MLOD from Bdfy to post it here. Also Martin has the extracted MLOD, and might post it. Either way, we have complete permission to edit the addon.
