  1. I would love to see (or rather hear) breathing effects for the CBNR masks to be added And some audiofilter for muffling the radioprotocol a bit Without it, the feeling of wearing masks would just evaporate

AI Facts & Myths Compilation List

many of the "AI uses weapon X against Y/ switches for Z" type things are simple config settings. If someone didnt do it right (e.g. some mods) or differently it will not work/ or work when it didnt before. You could also get jets to use laser guided AT missiles on infantry...

    Arma 3 DLC - CONTACT

mission developers cant develop missions if they have no tools for the new engine to do that. Or gameplay ... No you cant substantially improve AI by switching engine. You can improve AI by dedicating a lot of "coder resources" to it (those who are busy with whatever comes after A3) You need better algorithms for better decision making. Not more computing power (doesnt hurt but is not the strictly limiting factor...)

talking about development cost and regional price - development also costs depending on where its developed... cost of living is higher in netherlands than czech republic or thailand, so employees will need more pay. Just saying...

for "cutting edge" technology they would have had to make the "non-cutting edge" technology first eitherway. Whats the point of "cutting edge hud" if you dont even have proper radar or even the most basic FCS. We dont even have the capability for radio fuzes on flak ammo - a thing thats been around since ~1945... Or fuse delay for HE weapons, so they can penetrate a little bit. BIS had (and still has) a lot of catching up to do to get even on the level of cold war, or even WW2 technology. The only cutting back they did was from visual/story aspect i bet. From something like Battlefield 2145 or Carrier Command esque content (i suspect) back to 2035. The features would have very likely stayed the same. All those scifi games we get ... the technology they utilize in gameplay is almost always pre year 2000. Only differences are what kind of "thing" a weapon shoots (bullets, plasma, ...). Also these smart lethal "future" things -> most are just not fun or applicable to games . self guiding bullets. Great for the military that has them. Not fun for a game. Rail guns - supper accurate, destruction of everything in single shot. *boop*, dead. How's that fun? Armored warfare is much more interesting when you can't just hit anywhere but need to aim for specific points. And infantry battles are also way more engaging if you have to look for your enemy and cant rely on 'drones with infantry radars' that give you full 360 all time info on enemies on your hud. Robot donkey... not much use, when everyone in vanilla already runs around with AT launcher + supressed machinegun + medicpack in guillie suit anyway. Esp. not when that would be controlled by AI... 2035 is away just enough for them to stay creative with models and story, without armchair generals complaining every other day how "the pattern of those trousers is incorrect", so i can see why they preferred that...

Price content ratio isnt really that objective either. The difference between what it costs now and what i think would be more appropriate cost compared to other DLC amounts to 2kg of bread (where i live). But in context, the DLC now costs equivalent of 7kg of bread or 2 movie tickets in my area. Is it worth 2 movie tickets? I would say yes. And 2kg of bread is not a worlds difference - for me. If someone lives in eastern europe or asia and would have to pay the same € price (possibly with their local currency even) i can see how it would be a much bigger deal.

I dont agree with that... all the features we have in A3 are so "un-advanced", that they have been introduced around 1970-1990 or even earlier. Sensors and sensor sharing (Radar etc) , Render to texture (mirrors, CCTV), FCS for vehicles, plane pylons, plane huds, heat penetrators /submunition/cluster weapons, guided ammo, top attack missiles, firing from vehicles, vehicle-in-vehicle transport. Remote controlled vehicles are not new either although not extensively used militarily in that period. All things considered, pretty old things. I'm not complaining btw, but with an older setting you'd have needed the exact same features to get "on the right level". I give you that, the price i think is a bit high in comparison. If i had to choose where i spend money on games it wouldnt be my first pick. But as i'm only interested in very few games, there is not much choice anyway. The Dayz models are noticeably modified for their 3rd person camera (higher doorframes, higher rooms, so camera wont clip through ceiling) - means it looks less fitting with A3.

You've played to much Arma when:

When you keep checking dev branch forum daily (including weekends) out of habbit, as you have done for the last 5 years - even though you already know nothing new will be there... 😭
  10. The problem with arma is that good story telling is significantly more difficult, because you can't reliably do specific things in this sandbox / it's much more laborious to achieve it. Esp. with the problematic AI... I played all campaigns except low /tanoa and none of them where really... engaging, because i value the freedom in arma. In campaigns the freedom is taken away / the missions expect you to do things in certain way. If you dont do it this one way, they either break, are impossible to do or way too easy - you never know. Plus, ordering a squad is always a micro management pain. In the moment it counts... you cant rely on them (AT guy fumbling running around like a headless chicken when a tank approaches). And being ordered by an AI squadleader is a pain too (they just run off - see Global Mobilization campaign) For A3 its also the theme - i just dont care about their made up scenario or factions, its just "meh" for me. If it was cold war, or something entirely futuristic i would have likely cared more. Also, the 'main' missions had the utterly boring "good guy blufor, bad guy opfor" theme in it. I also played Arma 1 campaign not too long ago and it wasnt particularly good either. Its my conclusion that stories are simply not the strength of a sandbox like this. So i prefer game modes that provide much more "bang for the development-time-buck" over a basic campaign that railroads you along to final conclusion. CTI/ Warfare mission (what was in the Arma 2 Demo) is what got me into the series. It makes best use of the entire reportoire of the sandbox. Now, a Dynamic Campaign (anyone remember IL2 Sturmovik?) - that would be something you could definnitely interest me in... Missions in a limited area which then affect the progress on a much larger (multi)island-spanning conflict (which is not played in realtime but calculated). With each mission affecting the result in the overall conflict, losses affecting your available assets in the mission etc.

two things - 1) They did the "give away information" thing during early A3 development. And when several features had to be cut at the end (no resources, or just didnt work) people complained... And they took the lesson from it, that they won't announce anything anymore until its 'safe' - iirc they even said so in one of their roadmap posts. Means that the current plans are all with a lot of insecurity and unknowns, so they will unlikely say anything far in advance. 2) Arma 3 was supposedly going to be much more futuristic at first ("Futura" was the name...), but then compromised on "future but not really". If you dont like aliens and futurism, i think having a DLC with optional aliens is the more preferable option 😛 Anyone liking or not liking the DLC wont change what's in the DLC. That was already decided several moons ago and is a done deal. So whats there to discuss? I dont mind alien theme (i prefer different look more, but whatever). I like mystery. I like eastern european maps. No 'discussion' about that will change my mind. What i dont like is pink. And that is not up for discussion either 😛 If there is not much "dissenting opinion" on what is liked or not, then this simply means majority of active people in the forum like it... Please remember how long it took for CIG until they got a full roadmap like that. Their early stages where much much more cloudy. Also, on that roadmap are only things they already proved are working / are safe to say. None of the experimental stuff is mentioned in it. In early game development there are too many unknowns to publically announce all the plans - because some may just not work out. I'm not saying information is not important, and i too want to know where the ship is sailing, if its going in the 'right' direction etc... but game development logistics (or product development in general) are not as easy as it seems sometimes.
  12. you probably put an absolute path into your config? C:\myfolder\mytexture.paa works for you, because the file is on your drive. Someone else wont have it.
  13. PBR is the little patrol boat right? That means the drivers body is covered on most sides. AI do not target for the head specifically but center torso in many cases. So maybe you can create a fake target and attach it to the soldiers head memory point to get around it. Then let the sniper shoot at the fake target (together with the accuracy buffs from the posts above). Another alternative might be to artifically spawn the bullet only a short distance away from the boat, with a trajectory that intersects with the drivers head. That way you should automatically get all the effects (vfx, sound) compared to when you would do a setkill or similar.
  14. polish straw is stronk straw i'd love to create new buildings using the textures of the new assets. If it's EBO i cant do anything with them effectively.

    Need Help, Model isnt working

you need to weight your uniform model to character bones
  16. Very cool looking, looking forward to checking it out. I see a lot of stalker props... Things i would advise: Test the underground bits out in MP as early as possible - the problem i feel will be the most annoying is the lack of light occlusion from flashlights - the current achilles heel of everything 'underground'. Designing places with that in mind you can reduce it a bit (but not fully). As singleplayer it looks usually very good, but with more people running around with flashlights it can be pretty bad looking otherwise. I dont know what you are going for in terms of "world building" but i would (personal opinion) reduce the amount of grafiti - to me grafiti is always a sign of human activity. Lots of grafiti -> lots of human activity. For a place to feel lost and forgotten i think its best to show minimal signs of recent human interaction. Less human interaction -> more mystery
  17. havent tried it but worth checking if diag_mergeConfigFile does work (do that then restart mission) for effects https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Diagnostics_Exe

  19. Not much to show atm, except this WIP for the centaur i'm working on. It's a custom pattern "of the region" this plays in. As always... we need more people actively working on this. So if you have any modding related skill and will to help - contact me.
  20. @oukej with the increasing irregularity of dev branch release, i feel like it's okay to just only post in the changelog if stuff actually happens... whats the point if every second entry is "no release this time because X" ?

    Fixed wing flightmodels

no it was already said by devs with jets dlc that this was the last adjustement of the flightmodel because of no time available. You should also know by now that hot development phase of A3 is over. You can make a force based custom flight model (addForce, addTorque script commands) - in theory. Only question is how stable that would be at varying fps counts and also how performant/well it would sync in multiplayer.
  22. steam is using markup (or markdown?) one of them many mark<insertdirection> BI is using... BI stuff - scroll down to bottom to see formatting rule. https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Advanced_Hints_(Field_Manual) Its... not really eye friendly to type in. idk maybe if you really go balls deep you could do something with macros to get around this but eh...
