  1. Vichy forces also fought alongside Japanese naval forces in the battle for Madagascar in 1942. It would make for an interesting ARMA2 mod sometime in the future!

    The Witcher 2

I completed it last weekend following Roche's path and enjoyed every minute of it, apart from the Kayran fight which I found very frustrating initially. Nevertheless, this one negative point did not detract from a bloody excellent game! The voice acting was superb and the characters were all very complex without being pretentious. I enjoyed the first Witcher immensely but I think the sequel is better, the diverging storyline is superb. I thoroughly enjoyed the combat system of the first game and was a bit unsure about what the combat would be like in the second when I was watching the previews ages ago. The combat system is extremely enjoyable, occasionally a bit sluggish but thats why you have to make sure to time your attacks and parries in the flow of the fight. The blocking system gets easier as you increase your vigour and upgrade your guard and riposte skills so you can parry a blow from any direction etc. The difficulty curve was different to other games in that it was more difficult in the first chapter than in the rest (That's not to say that the rest of the game isn't challenging though). It thrusts you straight into the action from the begginning and you've got to do your best to keep up and adapt! I'd say The Witcher 2 is to the RPG world what ARMA2 is to the FPS world and would recommend it to anyone :bounce3:
  3. Don't forget to mention Tractable as well as Totalize mind! After this mod is finished sometime in the future, I'd love to see people whipping up some missions such as Perch, Martlet, Epsom, Jupiter, Goodwood, Bluecoat, Charnwood and of course Totalize and Tractable. Totalize would be a great mission especially with the opening phase being an armoured offensive at night time involving Kangaroo apcs for the first time :) You'd also have the Brits, Canadians and Poles involved on the Allied side; it would be quite a showcase of different countries (All wearing the same uniform and using the same equipment though).
  4. Wow is the word! The map looks great and puts into perspective how big an undertaking this project is. :) As well as being an awesome map to play on or tinker with it, i'll wager that it will be handy for educational purposes too. Wish you all the best with it!
  5. Is there a possibility of including a couple more British Divisions such as 15th Scottish Division and 11th and 79th Armoured Divisions? These divisions took part in most of the larger 21st Army group operations and played quite a very prominent role in Normandy.
  6. Would we be able to see a British Piat out of interest and will you be adding 2-inch and 3-inch mortars as well? On the explosive side of things would you consider adding mouse-holing charges to the mod? I'm not sure if they'd be of use in buildings with non-destructable walls however.

    Hell in the Pacific MOD

Where are they? All I can see is jungle! ;) This mod is really looking excellent, congrats to the modders for doing a splendi job of things :)
  8. Looks like it'll be fun to fly but a bit of a bugger to land, just as it should be! Had a wee chuckle at "Utesmunde" lol :D
  9. Have you come across this site before? http://aerial.rcahms.gov.uk/worldwide/?PHPSESSID=63vov39dvrg0g5uc0ln0s7aia5 It might be handy for the odd reference or two
  10. Cheers for taking the time to reply to my question XxEnigmAxX, it sounds like one heck of a massive endeavour! The persistent war idea sounds like it's going to be epic. I appreciate all the work you guys are putting in, looking forward to any and all updates in the future!
  11. petrtlach: Yes, you're quite right about the markings. Looking forward to seeing the Cromwell, do you have any plans in the future to include any A30 Challengers? I've been looking through your Arma and Arma 2 threads and the work you've done is impressive! I've been spurned onto finding out a wee bit more about the Czechoslovakian forces in WW2, are there any English-language texts you can reccommend to me? So far i've found (but not bought) "TANKS CZECHOSLOVAK INDEPENDENT ARMOURED BRIGADE 1943 - 1945" by Jaroslav Hajecek and this website http://www.nasenoviny.com/. Are there any other good sources out there?
  12. I think that the "53" symbol was rather a generic symbol amongst the armoured brigades and divisions equipped with Commonwealth equipment. From this website http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=590 you can see that as well as the 3rd Armoured Regiment of the 1st Czech Armoured Brigade using the "53" symbol, the 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade, 27th UK Armoured Brigade and the 5th Guards Armoured brigade used it as well. I agree in saying that the Churchill equipped tank-brigades did not use the "53" symbol as far as I know (http://northirishhorse.net/articles-2/Insignia/Churchills.html) but I think that pedantic people like myself need to recognize that: -The modders are doing an excellent job at the important things - They're devoting their spare time to this project -They're introducing new units not seen before in Arma 2 - They're embarking on a mod of epic and challenging proportions Ultimately, the issue of a tank having inaccurate markings shouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things, it's best that we don't bog modders down by the little things when they're doing a such fantastic job on the big things. :) @ XxEnigmAxX With regards to the Commonwealth side of the battle for Normandy, are you planning on recreating elements of any of the following major operations of the campaign? -Operation Perch -Operation Epsom -Operation Goodwood -Operation Bluecoat -Operation Totalize -Operation Tractable @petrtlach looking forward to your work on the Czech Armoured brigade at Dunkirk 1944-45, I don't know a lot about the siege so it's always good to see a mod tackling this area
  13. I must congratulate you on this mod, the Brits are looking great! I'm going to nit-pick however and point out a possible wee mistake i'm afraid. (The mistake is minor though and ultimately would not affect the end product i'd wager so I apologize for being a pain in the arse and pointing it out) The mailed fist divisional symbol sign on the Churchill in the picture is the symbol of the 6th Armoured Division which was not equipped with Churchills nor was it depolyed in NW Europe with the 21st Army group. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6th_Armoured_Division_%28United_Kingdom%29 The following Tank Brigades however used the Churchill in Normandy. (Website used is http://northirishhorse.net/articles-2/Insignia/Churchills.html) 6th Guards Tank Brigade Symbol: 31st Tank Brigade Symbol: 34th Tank Brigade Symbol: In addition to the 3 Tank Brigades there were 8 Armoured Brigades (inc. Canadian, Polish and Czech) in Normandy which were equipped with Shermans rather than Churchills and 6 Armoured Divisions (Inc. Canadian and polish divs and counting 79th Armoured Division as an armoured division in this case) with Shermans (Cromwells in 7th Armoured Div case) in the main regiments and Cromwells in armoured recce regiments. http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=399 Apologies again for the pedantry :o, looking forward to seeing more awesome work in the future!
  14. Bohemia have done their research extremely well! :bounce3: Not a massive fan of the PMC theme but i'm definitely going to purchase this DLC to support Bohemia and to have a crack at the campaign once i've finished off the BAF one.
