  1. how the hell did I not see this before? it's looking pretty epic, although I was never too sure about one thing:

How well do OPX objects fit into the graphical level of ArmA2? Don't they kinda break the overal impression by being lowres or missing some special A2 related visual features?

I'm not trying to disrespect Opteryxes work at all, I loved his ArmA1 additions, I'm just asking.

They are actually perfect, and also the fact that they are really good on performance makes me think that all desert maps should switch over to using mainly those objects.

  2. How so? When you install / upgrade to DX 11 doesn't it just replace DX9 (like a video driver update more or less?).

I've never had 2 DX versions running on a computer system. It always just shows one...

With that said...I guess I might as well just stiick to DX 9 then...for now anyway.

No, The software uses dx9 opposed to dx11, it will still use 9 when 11 is installed.

  3. How important is to use Win7 64Bit instead of Win7 32Bit ?

Does it make any difference if I have 6 or 8 gb memory?

I heard that the game cant use more the 2-3 gb memory.

Right now I have GTX 275 will I get a much better performance with the GTX 460?

    1.Not very

2.I don't think so maybe if you are using a ramdisk

3.Probably not, not so sure about that.

  4. Ok guys! First let me say I have played since the get go, I bought Ofp the day it came out, as with everything else released up to Arma 1, Then Arma 2 came out and I had no computer that was able to handle it. Now I have mapped out my new P.C Finally and will finally get my Arma 2/OA fix.

I-7 950 at 3.06ghz (My first buy, got in on black friday for 200$ :)

evga 480 or the new 580 (please help me decide on this one)

    ASUS P6X58D-E LGA 1366 X58 SATA 6GB/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel MOBO

    Ram: G.SKILL PI Series 3 x 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 1600 CL7 (6 gigs)

HD: Western Digital 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s

These are the most important parts oblivsouly, I don't need to mention my case, power supply, etc.... But What do you guys thing? Anyone have something similar? Any changes I should make? How would you expect this for Arma 2 OA I wan't to run everything high besides Post processing.

To be honost, that thing could probably run high besides post at 60+ fps, probably could run maxed with 50+ fps, not sure about that though.

  5. Okay, last thing I could find:

  6. Pointless overkill. There's no need for such a powerful and expensive PSU. As for your choice of cards, they're equally over-sized. Leon86 said it well "you can run A2 fine on mid-range hardware". You just have to be smart rather than simply throwing money at it and hoping it sticks.

Moreover contrary to your declaration "Anything better would require an upgrade" couldn't be further from the truth. Apart from the very top end (enthusiast) cards, practically all modern cards have similar, if not lower power requirements. If you like ATi then I'd opt for a 6850 - powerful, reasonably priced and meagre (only 19W more than 5770). Provided you have a decent PSU 450W should be fine. So the money you save on replacing your PSU you can put towards the 6850. I'd recommend the Sapphire Radeon HD 6850. This review analyses its power requirements in quite some detail (OK its the 6870 puts its comparable).

Here's a decent benchmark that allow you to compare the gains that might be delivered by upgrading from a 5770 to 6850.

I wouldn't say save money on the powersupply, go buy a 650 watt that way you can future proof yourself.

  7. Hi everyone

Well I'm not exactly here to know if my PC can run this game but to know why it can't handle it better...

    My rig :

    i7 860 @ 2.8Ghz

    GeForce GT 320

    4 Gb DDR3

    Win 7 64Bit

    Native resolution : 1920x1080

Ingame settings for a map like Chernarus or Takistan :

    Textures : Normal

    Video Memory : Normal

    Terrain detail : low/normal

    Object detail : Normal

    Shadows : Normal

    Aniso Filter : Off

    AA : Off/low

    PP : Off/low

    View Distance : 2500

    3D resolution : 1440x900

And with this I get an average FPS of 20-25 and it quickly drop to 15-20 when I walk into chernarussian forest...that's not exactly what I expected...

Like this the game is quite playable and not ugly but there's a lot of aliasing.

1 year ago I was playing ArmA2 on my 2 years old laptop which didn't even met the required spec(C2Duo 2Ghz with a Geforce 7600, all settings on very low/low and res: 800x600).

So with an i7 I was really expecting to be able to put a few settings on high...

I don't want to push everything to the maximum but I'd like to play in Native resolution with an average view distance of 5000 on any map.

I have a big drop of FPS when I try to push up the 3D resolution to fit my screen resolution.

I know my GPU is the weak point of my rig but I'm really a dickhead when it comes to hardware and I don't know which one should I choose to fit what I want.

As I said I don't want to play with everything on very high, I'm quite happy with the rendering I have now all I want is to play in native resolution to get rid of this damn aliasing,

especially annoying in a game like arma where you have to spot and shoot ennemies at long distance.

    Thanks for your help

    Graphics cards:

If you're on a budget: 6870, best value

If you want something really good: 5970, 6990 (Not out yet), gtx 480, 580 (Not out yet)

  8. i have an idea that this is a retardedly stupid question but will a AMD Sempron LE-1200 2100mhz and 3.0 gb of ram run it i have no idea how to fiqure out what video card a i have so can any one tell me how to fiqure that out

No, you will need a better processor (Preferably a i5/i7/core2quad/phenom II) Also to find out what graphics card you have there is a cool app called cpu-z, that should tell you all your system specs.

  9. CPU: i5 760 (2.8ghz, 3.33 w/ turbo boost)

    GPU: Nvidia geforce 9400 gt

    RAM: 6gb 1333mhz

I have OA And Arma 2 on steam, and Currently playing on very low (going to upgrade gpu to a 5850 or a hd 6000). Sometimes in a game it will drop to about 20 fps when I come across a city or a forested area, is there some way to reduce this? Is it my CPU causing it or my GPU?

  10. I uninstalled everything and installed the demo, api, and facetracknoir 1.3 with the patch. Same error. :/

found a fix to this, uninstall the ipp included in the setup folder by rightclicking the installer and clicking uninstall. Then install api demo which includes the correct ipp installer and will install automatically.
