  1. After a year of playing ArmA 2 and later on ArmA 2 OA, things tend to get more and more boring playing with AI and random players. This is the Operations X secret forces group, I would like for anyone to try and get involved with us if they are interested in getting used to a small group of players. Our purpose is to take on special operations and missions that the U.S. Army and Marines would prefer not. Missions that change the fate and destiny of Takistan, and Chernarus... and possibly Sahrani. In the world of Ox, we are top secret and are only used whenever the government need the best agents and spies possible. [Training\Procedures] - Tactical Training [Guns, Formations and Basics] - CQC and Room Entry - Evaluation and Battle Discipline - Squad codes *Morse Code* - Counter Terrorism Training - Test survival mission [simulations\Live Action] - Playing online with units requires proper use of team work - Simulations are STRICT on procedures of engagement and tactics - Clan Battles require certain mods and terms of agreements [Joining] - Must be 18 years of age or older - Must know weapons, vehicles, and squad based familiarization - Must accept all training from operations - Must follow the rules and play fair
  2. Ray tracing is far more than just rays of light beams, maybe I had not mentioned. But, moving on. Ray tracing is also when light is observed by objects; and absorbed or repelled dependent on the objects color or density. If the object has dark colors, it will absorb the light. If the object has bright colors, it will repel. If the object is opaque [solid] then it will in fact show density of color depth. If the object is translucent or transparent, it will simply ignore light. What games of today do not have is color and light reflections, Crysis is simply the closest game to it. Other than Far Cry 2, but anyways... coming down to my conclusion. Movies of today, such as Avatar and other stunning 3d worlds use Ray Tracing as its primary pool of graphical effects. Other wise, it would look like something from 10 years ago that is displayed on games of today. Btw, look up Ambient Occlusion and Field of View to see a little more compatible version of Ray Tracing... it can be activated through Nvidia Control Panel in the 3D Application Settings dialog. Here is a good example of light and color; compacting and repelling. 4. For some reason, my game always has an error with the M16 Burst\Single fire sounds. And it never does anything, I have different mods installed. And it seems as if it only works when no mods are enabled. My mod list is... JSRS, ACE, ACEX, ACEX_SM, JTD Fire and Smoke, WarFX tracers + effects, H.A.R.C.P Sound echos.

    ArmA 2 Lightraytracing

This topic may only be based down to a simple question, but this idea is pretty interesting. Since Crysis and some other games have this, objects in our ArmA 2 environments would literally look more vibrant. For instance, when light hits a pine tree... the blades of light from the sun seep through the object specifically the needles them selves. This may only be a DX10 or DX11 feature, but if anyone would like to talk about this... you can talk about it here. For more information on what ray tracing is, click here.
  6. Yes, I have recently done benchmarks concerning distance between AI. It seems that when activated sound mods such as ACE or HiFi are in play, when the AI is all together firing at each other. The CPU cannot process all of the sounds shooting at once in a small location, however if you spread out the players in distances. Less sound is made, and less CPU is being used up. Another scenario is that these AI enhancements from ACE and SLX etc... can actually cause CPU lag. The reason I say so, is because the AI can spot each other EASILY and will not disengage until that person is dead. Basically saying, the amount of AI times the amount of bullets fired is insurmountable. It's wild to think one's computer could run a game as futuristic as this.
  7. Hello, I have been playing ArmA 2 for a while now. I have noticed that the more mods I add to the game, the more stress and suppression is put onto my gfx card and cpu. So I finally saved up enough money for an ASUS GTX 480, and I was wondering if anybody has got higher frames per seconds in bigger battles with this card. Perhaps in perspective of a AMD Phenom cpu??? And since the first release of the game till the last update. FPS have incremented over time, so I could imagine that since my old 9800gtx+ is able to give me 30fps whenever there isn't anything going on. Maybe a better card could give more like 100 or a little less. 9. Ok at first I thought it was just because of custom content loaded on the server, but then it got more serious. Someone joined with all of the content and no mods, and the server kicked him right back out. Any suggestions :\
  10. **Note** All procedures and techniques are simulated in wide variety's of training, however do not amount up to the actual Navy Seals. Joining the Seal Team 7 is for fun and to simulate realistic warfare and tactical methods on engaging objectives. [speech 1'] Some time within September, I will start Seal Team 7 for STANDARD ArmA 2. However, applying prematurely will give me time for searching a group of individuals that want to embark in a simulation of TACTICAL inland combat. While finishing a clan website and training methods. Rules and regulations come last, however I will be giving temporary rules that must be held accountable. Exploiting prior knowledge of your team, and tactics or strategy are the basic ways of the Seal Team. The main idea isn't to make an EXTREMELY realistic team, but to make it fun and interesting. For one, the navy seals go through training to react fast to orders and learn how to maintain well put reflexes. This is not going to be THAT well brought up, however... I will be coming up with methods to exploit on the double behavior. Keeping everyone's eyes peeled and all will make it work better, for one major reason is because this is a game and it is not as difficult to play as your own life. So if you are going to apply now or later, you must give me interests and prior knowledge of weapon, formations, vehicles, and other specifications. Down below is a list of requirements during enlistment, as of now a website would be helpful. But I am too busy to come up with one yet, it will be hear by some time in September. Also I am looking for help on hosting a server, minor issues and glitches. Up till now, training COULD take a month or two before graduation. For you have to learn a extreme amount of discipline and requirements if you want to become a member. I am looking for top notch players who are willing to communicate well with a team of 5 players max and I am one of them. Once you are in this group, there is no such rank other than Commando. ( During training, after each week you will use your previous teachings during the following and upcoming training days. And all players in the group must be on at least twice during a week at the same time for training) [**Training**] T-Week '1': Running, Formations, Stances training. (Learning how to operate stances and movement organized) T-Week '2': Firing Range, Battlefield simulation, Map and Tools T-Week '3': [T.E.T] Tactical Engagement Training T-Week '4': [b.S.T] Buddy System Training on Two Man teams T-Week '5': [N.S.V.F] Navy Seal Vehicle Familiarization T-Week '6': [R.E.T.W] Room Entry Tactical Warfare T-Week '7': [L.S.A] Leadership Skills Association Q-Week '8': [T.T.Q] Tactical Thinking Quiz S-Week '9': [s.S.M] Survival Simulation Mission G-Week '10': [G.T.M] Graduation Test Mission in Domination ------------------------------------- You have earned your way up to a S-7 Commando [**Requirements**] -Acknowledging other players leadership -Words such as You, I, He, Her, No will not be associated whenever in training or combat unless in a urgent matter -Mature language only, impolite gestures towards team mates result of dismemberment -A good enough computer for high quality battles and adventures -Only Ages 17+ older are accepted into the team -Some mods will be issued on order by the Leader, for realistic aspects -A LEGAL copy of "Stand alone ArmA 2", or "Insurgency" -Reading ALL policies and descriptions about S-7 and Agreeing to the terms -Team fire or civil slaughter will not be permitted at ALL times -Once you are enlisted as a S-7 Commando, you die as one. That means as long as another S-7 Commando is in the server, you work together as trained -You must be an American, British, or Australian citizen to join [**Extra Acknowledgment**] -We do not go 100% by Navy Seal training programs, however end up with the same procedures and team tactics as it offers. -We are NOT a clan, we are a Squad... and only ONE squad. -Ammunition varies by HIGH amounts towards S-7 due to the small size of the S-7 Squad. -We are for realism, and realism clans are much less organized when it comes to 20-30 players. We are a 5 Man Team and the training will be more extreme, and organized during enlistment as you go. -If your team misses everyday during a week of training, you will repeat your entire program again. Days that are missing during a week of training are known as "Rainy Days" or "Drop Days". [**Terms of Agreement**] I hear by sentence my self as a recruit towards the teachings of an Officer, during training I will do as instructed by my superior Officer, and I am no longer one but I am a team. For all that I have read, I agree to the terms of enlistment. [**Applying**] 1) Read all categories listed on this database, and agree to the terms. 2) Sign your first and last name [You will be assigned a code name later] 3) Explain why you want to join the S-7 Commandos 4) You must be an American, British, Australian citizen to join 5) List your knowledge of the Navy Seals, and possibly any tips 6) You are a (Student\Worker\Veteran\Writer\Programmer\Artist) 7) Past clans you were or are still associated with 1(5) Recruits are Enlisted
